Steve Rogers liked to think himself a reasonable man. That's why when they landed at the Avengers compound he wouldn't treat Tony too harshly. He would make the man grovel for their forgiveness but he would forgive him. He did love Tony after all. "I can't wait to go home," Wanda said wistfully. Wanda had taken the separation from Vision very harshly and everyone tried to reassure her that when they returned things would go back to normal. But it had 2 years so there was no Guarantee That would happen, for all they knew vision had moved on. Everyone in the team was angry that Tony took this long to get their pardons, how dare he keep them away from their families this long?
"Me too," Steve agreed, placing a gentle hand on Wanda's shoulder.
The quinjet landed just outside the compound, where the 'welcoming' Committee stood before it. To go over ground rules.
James Rhodes stood tall and proud, his legs back to 80% efficiency since his fall. With the help of Tony's leg braces he was back on his feet only weeks after the accident. It did not mean however that he had an easy time. His legs ached often and physio was sometimes excruciating.
Standing next to him was Vision Stark, who'd been asked by the council to stand with Colonel James to ensure no one was biased. Even if Vision was no longer friends with the rouges everyone knew he'd be polite. More so than anyone else. Since Wanda had flung him through several ceilings he'd spent a lot of time learning about how polite humans would act, especially in relationships and learned that what he'd had with Wanda was certainly not healthy. During the 2 years the rogues were away, Vision was granted humanoid status and officially named as Doctor Stark's son. And in that time he'd managed to find love again, with the very eccentric Luna Lovegood. They complimented each other perfectly. Luna was also present in the welcoming committee.
"Be careful not to let the wrackspurts in Jim," Luna warned quietly to which the man smiled fondly and nodded. It took people a while to realise if Luna warned you of something it would be best to heed it.
The ex-avengers exited the quinjet like they owned the place. Seeing Wanda again put Vision on edge, he did not want her around his family. Luna grabbed his hand softly with a smile. "Welcome back to the compound," Jim announced as they smiled almost smugly at him. Sam wilson's eyes darted between the colonel's face and his leg braces, a guilty look on his face.
"It's good to be back, Rhodey," Steve said with a smile.
"It's Colonel Rhodes Mr Rogers," Vision pointed out. Earning a raised eyebrow from the group. "We are not friends here, do not presume your actions have been forgiven."
Rhodey's face brightened at the sassy humanoid. He was definitely Tony's son. "Well, as the one of the Co-leaders to the avengers I was instructed by the council to ensure you have read everything you signed off on. If not I will have to go through the ground rules and ensure you read the accords at a later day."
Steve at least had the decency to put on a fake guilty face, "Sorry Rh- Colonel Rhodes we were so excited to return we didn't have time." What Steve really wanted to say was as soon as he saw Tony he'd force him to change the accords to what they had written out during their exile. Which included a lovely cause that made Tony all but a slave to the avengers initiative.
Jim sighed annoyed, "Right. So the compound was sold to the accords council a month after you left. Since then there have been many changes. You'll receive passes that will allow you into areas of the building. As we have weapons specialists here, among other things. Living quarters are downsized, you'll no longer have your own floors. As most people live off sight, if this is an issue for you you have to take it up with the council. All your weapons and other equipment will also go through them, you'll have a personal liaison officer to do so. Group training is mandatory, as well as monthly physical health checks and psych evaluations." He paused. The avengers faces were priceless and hilarious. They were fuming. How dare Stark take their homes from them? "You have to attend mandatory Accords meetings until you are caught up with the accords. Any questions?"
"What do you mean we don't have our own floors anymore, what happened to our stuff?" Steve seethed.
"Exactly what I said Rogers, you left. You did not rent a space here, technically you were Tony's guests. Anything you owned and paid for with your own money was put into storage. Anything Tony provided and did not want to keep was given to goodwill."
Steve looked as though he was going to punch Rhodes in the face, so Vision politely stepped in. "Mr Rogers, you and your… team have had a long journey. Might I suggest you get reacquainted with the building and freshen up. We have a team meeting tomorrow at 8000 hours so you and your team can meet the newer team members. Please, do not be late." He handed each of them a room keep, that had a floor and suite number on it, along with their pass codes and left with Rhodey and Luna. Ignoring the quiet "vis…" he heard from Wanda.
"How can Stark do this to us?" Clint seethed as they reconvened in Steve's room. It was way smaller than they were expecting and was a struggle for them all to fit. It reminded Clint and Natasha of their quarters at shield.
Natasha rolled her eyes, "he's trying to prove a point that he's washed his hands of us. We just need to stroke his ego for a few days. Then we can get back to normal."
"Why should we have to do anything? He killed my parents, he needs to make amends for that!" Wanda wailed. Each of the ex avengers tried to comfort her as Scott rolled his eyes. He only agreed to come back so he had a chance to see his daughter again.
For a moment Natasha wondered if she'd bet on the wrong horse, betraying Stark was a risky move. The man had friends in very high places- hell he could literally rule the world if he so wished. She was hoping that Tony's crush on Steve would make the man see sense and welcome them back. But 2 years to receive their pardons suggest Tony had nothing to do with it. If that's the case, and he didn't want them there, things could definitely become tricky. "Wanda it's okay, just breathe," Sam coached. Natasha barely concealed the roll of her eyes. Wanda had all of them fawning all over her with her doe eyed child act. Steve wanted to protect her, and everyone else wanted to fuck her. It's probably why Clint left his family, and the reason he and his wife were having so many arguments prior to his departure. Natasha expected divorce papers any day now, if Laura ever gets the confidence to leave him.
The day passed quickly, and before anyone realised it was time for the meeting. The rouges entered the conference room 10 minutes early, hoping to catch Tony off guard. Or anyone that could procure them what they wanted. That however was not the case. The first to arrive was a blond haired woman who they believed was called Carol. She raised an eyebrow at the rouges who'd placed themselves at the top of the large conference table. After her entered Rhodey, who greeted the woman with a gentle kiss to the cheek.
Spiderman stumbled in clumsily a few seconds later, knocking over a coat rack in his rush. "Sorry Uncle Rhodey!" The young boy apologised.
The rogues filed that piece of information away, whoever this boy was he was definitely comfortable with the new avengers calling to be Rhodes uncle, that or he truly was related. But Steve couldn't see Rhodey allowing the young boy on the field.
A big shock was when Bruce Banner entered the room, they hadn't seen the man in 4 years. He looked good, healthy and peaceful, something cap's team had never seen in the man before. What shocked them, Natasha especially, was his complete ignorance of them. They realised Tony must have already gotten to him. "Bruce! Your back!" Steve said as he stood and made his way to the man.
"Evidently," the doctor replied before finding a seat far away from the team. Causing spider man to snicker. A tall ginger man entered the room with a big grin on his face, taking his seat next to Bruce.
"I don't like that look," Carol teased the man.
The ginger just smirked back when Thor entered, who's hair was pink? Everyone, bar the rouges, laughed and spiderman high fived the ginger. "George," Bruce groaned though there was no heat behind it.
"He's not George I am, honestly love you, call yourself our boyfriend." Teased an identical ginger, walking through the conference door with a smirk, taking a seat next to spiderman and his on the other side of Bruce. Steve's face displayed his disgust.
"Ooo don't tell me Mr Americas a homophobic asswipe!" A new voice snarled.
The new voice was covered head to toe in spandex, like spiderman, but with the addition of two large knives on his back. Natasha pulled Steve away from the men at the sight of him, shaking her head to show Steve not to engage. If these people were as dangerous as natashas look suggested then they shouldn't be on the team. The red clad man sat next to spiderman. "Seems so poolie," 'George' or 'Fred' agreed. And Steve had to bite his tongue. They'd see when he and Tony got together and he kicked them out of the compound.
Vision and the woman from yesterday entered next. The blonde woman seemed to be holding a green twig, "Don't worry Sid, I'll get you back to mummy," she cooed. The rogues looked at her like she was insane, she seemed to be off her rocker. But Vision looked at her as though she'd lit the stars herself, causing Wanda to glare hotly at the two. All of Cap's team were surprised to hear the little twig squeal at the sight of them and hopped into the blonde woman's hair. "Sorry about him, bowtruckles are extremely shy and don't like new people," Vision explained. It was the nicest he'd spoken to them since they'd returned and it gave Wanda unprecedented hope.
"Just be glad it was the bowtruckle to escape and not the niffler," the blonde woman smiled.
After they sat Hope van dyne, the fantastic four and more 3 gingers entered along with another blonde and a teenage boy. Finally, at 8 o'clock on the dot, Tony entered with another ginger woman. Who appeared to be heavily pregnant. Tony pulled out the chair for her, and then took his own. Surprisingly Sharon Carter also entered, glaring at Steve and taking a seat next to Tony with a smile.
"Right now we are all here we can get started, introductions. All of us know The returnees, however as you can see there are many new faces," Rhodey began, mainly talking to team cap. "Did you read your information pack?" None of the rogues made a move to confirm or deny, so everyone knew they hadn't.
Jim pinched his eyebrows and passed over to Carol. "Right so everything about certain people must stay in this room. Quite a few of us are wizards, namely the gingers, luna and fleur. They were sent here by the British wizard ministry to help with Thanos. However, there was the statue of secrecy to contend with. So everyone believes these people are the only wizards in the world thanks to mutant experimentation. We managed to forge all the official documents and only higher ups know the truth. It has to be kept that way, if you betray them you'll be in contempt of the accords- as per the agreement- and sentenced to life in azkaban prison. With no way to escape, even with your special abilities."
The rogues went to open their mouths to speak when Jim took the floor again. "So the gingers, we have Bill weasley. He's a curse breaker for the bank. He only goes on specialist missions and is highly valuable. Next is the lovely Fleur Delacour, she will be the woman to go undercover in missions if needed but is mainly a field agent. Charlie Weasley, Dragonzooligst. Again, mainly goes on specialist missions. Fred and George, Field agents. Highly intelligent and volatile. Do not eat anything they give you. Ginny Weasley, she flys the iron rescue suit. No one has ever out flown her. And last but certainly not least, Primrose Stark-"
As soon as her surname was dropped all hell broke loose. "What do you mean Stark?" Steve practically snarled.
"What he means is, this is my wife Rose," Tony snapped protectively. This was the first time since they had entered the room that he'd spoken to Cap's team.
"Right, primrose was a key player; she is a magizoologist with all speak, animal wise at least, and a mediwitch. Which she still oversees just off field." Jim explained. "Would have been helpful to have her on field in the fight with Thanos but I can't let my two nephews/nieces get hurt."
"Twins?" Wanda snarled. Her eyes flickering dangerously between Stark and his wife. Natasha sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. "How dare you have twins when you stole mine from me!" She screamed her hands blazing red as she stood from her chair. Only to be tied to it once again with her hands behind her back.
Cap's team saw Primrose was the culprit. "Come on she's just a kid you can't treat her like that!" Cap exclaimed.
The woman's head turned to his, "You said he was delusional. I didn't realise how much," she said to Stark in her delicate British accent. "She was threatening my children. And why? Because she was a twin? So was I but you don't see me having a temper tantrum whenever some else has twins."
"Stark took my family from me, my twin brother."
Primrose actually began to laugh in wanda's face, "No lovely. That Stark bomb in your house was counterfeit. Stark bombs are 100% successful, the one you had was a fake. Nothing to do with Tony." Wanda went to speak again but Primrose continued, "Don't worry I did a little digging for you, Accio Wanda file." Less than two seconds later a file comes bashing through the door.
Primrose united Wanda to allow her to look. And once she did the colour drained from her face, "No."
"Yes. HYDRA sent that bomb. HYDRA killed your parents and then you went and joined them. You put the Vision in Tony's head that created Ultron. You killed your twin. No one else. His blood remains on your hands. " Wanda flipped the page to find a million names and ages.
"What's this?"
"Those are your kills, HYDRA and ULTRON and Hulk. 456 children on that list Wanda. 198 twins. ``Wanda began to cry hysterically, Tony stood next to his wife and put a calming hand on her arm.
“Wanda tell me you didn’t know they were HYDRA, that this is a lie,” Clint practically begged. He’d lost his family to this woman,
"How can you be so callous? What do you know about loss or war?!" Steve screamed at the woman. "Wanda is just a child who's lost everything."
Primrose laughed humorlessly. "What would I know? Well Mr America. The wizarding world had two wars, both quite recently. The first ended when the leader of the other side killed my parents to attempt to end my brother and I. Twins like Wanda, and instead his spell backfired and he disappeared for 11 years. I was raised as a child soldier in a war I never should have to fight. I lost my parents, godparents, friends, boyfriends and my twin brother. Don't tell me I don't know loss Mr Rogers. You may be a man out of time but you've had time to adjust. It's been years. And we all know the only reason you said no to the accords was because that meant Tony would no longer be funding the crusade to find his parents' murderer. "
"It wasn't him."
Sam and Scott leaped up in surprise. "Bucky killed Howard and Maria Stark? Did you know?" Sam snarled at the man. "Oh my- fuck that's what you fought about in siberia wasn't it? You knew!"
"Not only did he know, he then left tonypie to die."
“Captain America, the nazi sympathiser,” Primrose taunted. Steve Rogers liked to think himself a reasonable man, so he was completely within his right to punch the pregnant lady.
