Prancing Pedo

Her first day of lessons had gone relatively smoothly.  Neither Harry nor his Gryffindor friends had spoken to her, though she caught them sending accusatory glances her way more than enough times to know she had been a hot topic of many conversations between the red clad teens.  Amaris decided she would no longer care. She had done nothing wrong in this situation, Harry was the one who was being a prejudiced git, not her. She would just get on with her plans and not bother with her stupid brother.

The only rocky occurrence that day was the incident during her first potions lesson.

When Amaris had finally gotten her way through the maze-like dungeons and found her class, she was frustrated to find she was three minutes late. The greasy haired teacher, who Amaris had  discovered was the Potions master and Slytherin head, froze when she walked into the classroom, but quickly regained his composure and snarled at her to take a seat in the only remaining empty desk, right in front of him.

Once the lesson, in which Amaris had tried to ignore her professors judging gaze that never seemed to move from her, had finished, he called her back and reprimanded her earlier tardiness with a detention.

Great, she was already getting detentions on her first day. How wonderful. It was scheduled to be the following monday with the DADA Professor, Gilderoy Lockhart. DADA was a lesson she was quite excited for, having heard in passing that it was one of the better courses on the Hogwarts curriculum from some of the older students.

Though something about Lockhart gave her the creeps; she had passed him in the halls a few times so far and she couldn't help but notice how his smouldering eyes would trail up and down across the Female students as they walked.

So when her second day of classes finally came, and she entered the DADA class with her fellow second year Slytherins and Gryffindors to find that instead of giving the students a general defense knowledge quiz, Gilderoy Lockhart gave them a quiz about himself, the red alarms going of inside Amriss head only got louder.

She sat in the back of the class observing as Lockhart flounced and strutted around the room sending cheesy grins and winks to the second year girls.

Why in the bloody nine realms would a grown arse man wink at a child?!

Amaris did not like this man at all, and she decided she would do her very best to rid him from the school.

It was 7:30 pm on her second day of Classes, and Amaris had just sat down at the far end of the Slytherin table when she noticed someone walking up to the empty seats in front of her from the corner of her eyes. She lifted her downcast head from where'd she'd been neglecting her plate of food and instead reading 'creatures of the moon - Walter Aragon' (something she had picked up from Hogwarts' extensive library earlier that day for research purposes) It was just her luck that it was in fact Draco Malfoy his two goons that come to sit before her.    “Hello Malfoy"

"Black" he courtly nodded in response, placing a chicken leg on the empty plate infront of him.

She quirked her brow at the use of 'black' instead of Potter; most people so far had addressed her by Potter, making it all too clear they were uneasy at the mention of the Black family, even if no one had said it outright.

She looked back down at her book an continued to read.

he interrupted the short lived silence with a slight taunt "Potters twin, a Slytherin? Who would've thought. Ha, certainly not me, that's for sure."

She didn't even look up as she answered "yes, a truly unthinkable prospect"

The young blond seemed to huff at her noticeable dismissal of the conversation.

As soon as her name, the girl who had basically assaulted his father at flourish and blotts, had been announced at the sorting ceremony he knew he had to write to his Family about her. Potter-Black, how would Harry potters long lost twin be related to the Most ancient and noble house of Black, his own mother's original house, if her brother wasn't? Draco couldn't rap his head around it. He had heard that Black was Harry’s godfather, but who was he to the girl if she was able to take up the family name?  His confusion only tripled when she was sorted into Slytherin, a Potter in Slytherin? It just didn't make any sense, and he wanted answers, and seeing as his family had no answers for him as they'd explained in their response letter, he knew it would be best to just... speak to her, as much as he didn't want to.

He pressed on, trying to salvage the conversation, taking a different approach and removing a tad bit of smugness from his words "I have to admit, I didn't expect a Potter to willingly take on the black name"

This seemed to prick at her attention. Amaris closed her book and looked up at him. "And why is that?"

Something seemed to click for draco and his eyes widened ever-so slightly, the pureblood pompous facade dissolving for a split second. He put down his knife and fork he had just been about to use.

"You mean you don't know?"

"Know about what, Malfoy"she replied, her face cool but annoyance in the tone of her voice.

"Sirius Black was the one who told the Dark Lord where your family was hiding. He betrayed them and then murdered 14 others, 13 of them being muggles" Draco spat out the last word, but he grimaced as he spoke the lot. He may not like the Potters but that didn't mean he wanted to be the one to tell their daughter why they had died.

"Oh" was all she responded with. He had expected her to seem upset, or angry, anything but calm, Yet that was what she was. She sat just as she had done a few moments before, now just with a look of contemplation on her delicate features as she stared blankly into the space behind him, her head cocking slightly in thought.

Amaris knew why Moony had called Sirius as traitor, now. Though something nagged at the back of her mind telling her there was more to it. She had no memories of black that seemed bad, she certainly didn't remember him to be an evil dark lord supporter, that was fore sure. And if by some chance, him being a psychotic murderous traitor was true as everyone else seemed to believe, why had he blood adopted her? If he wanted her entire family dead, it made no sense.
