In the distant past, J is woken up for the first time after being fixed by Tessa. In the brief time he spends awake, he finds himself yearning for an impossible wish. Not only that, but something within his code causes the view of his mistress to be obstructed by a blackness that hurts to look at.Tessa, on the other hand, desperately wants to escape her mundane human life and finds herself building drones to fulfill this. But she knows it'll never satiate her.The two watch each other live the lives they wish they had and begin to grow closer.
