An Evening Dance
Remus felt nothing but warmth from the embrace with Sirius. His boyfriend’s head was resting delicately on his shoulder while the two of them were gently twirling around their flat. That day had been tough. Remus and Sirius had argued over the order in the height of the war. Both of them had said things they didn’t mean and regretted it deeply. The wounds had been covered now, and the two were brought comfort in each other’s company.
Remus felt Sirius’ humming against him as The Beatles played crackling in the background. The two of them swayed gently as Baby It’s You melted into You Really Got A Hold On Me. In this moment, all of Remus’ worries were forgotten. And he could swear he felt Sirius’ own concerns drift away from him. Remus felt a damp patch form on his chest. “Sirius?” Remus whispered, bringing his hand up to stroke his boyfriend’s hair. “Sorry.” Came the snivelling reply. “Didn’t mean to.”. The two broke apart, but remained close. Remus used his thumb to wipe Sirius’ tears from his cheeks. “What’s wrong, Pads?” Remus asked, rubbing Sirius’ arm soothingly. “I'm so sorry. For earlier.” Sirius hiccuped. Remus sighed, gathering Sirius’ shivering body closer to him. “It’s okay. We’re okay. I’m not going anywhere. I promise.” Remus told him, every word laced with audible sincerity. Sirius nodded against his shoulder, winding his arms around Remus’ body.
Remus placed a loving kiss against Sirius’ head. “I promise.” He repeated. He rested his head against Sirius’ humming gently to Anna, Go To Him. “Me too. I promise I’m not going anywhere either.” Sirius whispered into Remus’ neck. Remus began swaying the two of them again, regaining his composure. “I know, love.” Remus said. And meant it.
