The pub was packed, yet it felt empty without Dorcas. Marlene scanned the room - it was wide, a vast amount of people, wasted. In the corner of her peripheral vision, she could see Sirius and Remus flirting in the corner, in their own little bubble. To the left, there was James, telling a story to the rest of their friends, with Lily at the edge of the circle, eyes on him and him only, full of adoration and love.
There were the people who were laughing in the corner, near the pool table. There were angry party-goers who were being escorted out by the bouncers. The security guards shoved past her, trying to get to the entrance. Marlene did not notice. They decided to head to the bathroom for a minute, where she was hit with the smell of vapes and drugs. Ignoring the stoner girls in the corner, Marlene entered a stall and sent a text off to their partner. Dorcas didn’t reply. She texted Sirius, who also didn’t respond.
He’s probably flirting with Rem, I don’t wanna bother them.
She didn’t know how long they’d stayed there, but after what she assumed was ten ish minutes, they figured it was silly to stay moping in the corner. Might as well have fun whilst she was as it, huh. Marlene checked the mirror, ignoring the stank that was in the room. They ran a hair through their long wolfcut, fixed up her fringe a bit. The bangs in which her Dorcas had so lovingly trimmed. Marlene fixed up her eyeliner - accentuating the white outlines of it once more to keep the edge. She adjusted the black shirt they were wearing, and pulled her maroon-coloured pants up a little - Siri’s suit set. Marls had abandoned the blazer long ago - they believed Remus had put it on as a joke, having been shirtless when they’d all arrived at the bar. The couple were probably fucking in the men’s stalls by now.
The scene was different when Marlene reentered. It was a dance scene. Pole-dancers swung around in their little cages, smirking and flirting with eager-eyed watchers. Many of which were old groping men, Marlene noted, scrunching their nose with disgust. She ordered herself a cocktail, and held it protectively, heading for their friends. Lily, Mary and Alice were laughing in the corner as Marlene made their way to them, but a sound from the front entrance put a stop to her tracks.
It was dead-silent in the room, with small chatters. Even the dancers had stopped, gawping. The music faded a little, the thump-thump-thumping slowed.
“I sure hope the party didn’t stop because of me - do keep on going, I’m only here for one…” it was Dorcas Meadowes, dressed in a skimpy yet elegant outfit - a little black dress. Her hair was voluminous, makeup simple yet flawless, eyes fierce and eyebrows raised slightly. It was Dorcas Meadowes, dressed in all her glory, making the most dramatic entrance into the glitzy pub. Marlene stood still, transfixed, watching their partner’s eyes sweep across the room until they landed onto her. She was making heads turn all around the room, and Marlene? They couldn’t stop looking at her.
“…person.” Dorcas finished. The crowd parted as she stalked through, heading straight for Marlene. They handed their drink to a random stranger and remained stock-still as Dorcas approached.
“I wasn’t gonna stand you up, you know? How could I ever leave my beautiful Marls here with this ‘entertainment’?” Dorcas breathed, her smile dazzling as ever. And to believe it was just for them? Marlene was so grateful, and so proud to have her as their partner.
She smiled her signature side-smirk, and leaned forward so their foreheads were touching. “Oh, the only entertainment I’ll be getting is from you in that little black dress of yours.”
So Marlene pulled Dorcas to her in the most breathtaking kiss. They were intoxicated, but completely sober. They were being watched, yet utterly alone. And when the crowd turned away, no longer interested, Marlene and Dorcas pulled apart and stared into one another’s eyes lovingly. The music started up again, but to a different song.
“It’s so right, the two of us. Did you come here alone?” Marlene asked Dorcas teasingly, knowing just which tune was about to play.
“It’s too late to go home. We’re so right, angel-”
“-I wanna see the way you move for me baby. This little black dress? Who’re you doin’ it for?”
“You. Forever and only you. Now what’s your favourite song?”
“My favourite song is you. Especially in that little black dress.”

Little black dress
Just walked into the room
Makin' heads turn
Can't stop looking at you
It's so right
It's so right
It's so right you know
Little black dress
Did you come here alone?
It's too late
It's too late
It's too late to go home
It's so right
It's so right
It's so right you know
It's so right
It's so right
It's so right you know
I wanna see the way you move for me baby
I wanna see the way you move for me baby
I wanna see the way you move for me
Little black dress
Who you doin' it for?
Little black dress
I can't take anymore
It's not right
It's not right
It's not right you know
Little black dress
What's your favorite song?
Little black dress
I won't do you no harm
It's so right
It's so right
It's so right you know
It's so right
It's so right
'Cause I'll take you home
I wanna see the way you move for me baby
I wanna see the way you move for me baby
I wanna see the way you move for me
I wanna see the way you move for me baby
I wanna see the way you move for me baby
I wanna see the way you move for me
I wanna see the way you move for me baby
I wanna see the way you move for me baby
I wanna see the way you move for me
