Epilogue
“Can I help you?”
“Yeah, please. Can I see a newspaper?”
“Of course. Did you come from a comic con or something, with those outfits?”
“A masquerade party, thank you.”
“And who might you be?”
The blond faltered for a second, before the brunette interjected. “Hermione Granger,”
“And Regina Foster. Pleased to meet you.”
“Pleased to meet you too. These energy readings you’re giving off are fascinating. Are you carrying any strange technology? I’m a researcher, and you’re walking anomalies. Might it be that strange jewelry?”
“Thank you, but we’re good. Have a good day, but we really do need to get back.”
“Back where? Where are we?” Regina hissed at Hermione.
“Are you lost?” The stranger asked.
“No, we’re alright. Thank you.” A tight smile and Hermione pulled Regina along, further down the street. In a low voice, she said in Asgardian, Allspeak off, “Regina, this isn’t your world, this is my world, but these aren’t the versions we know. I don’t know what this place is like, but I need time to figure this out. So please, just follow me.”
“It’s not in my blood to follow orders.”
“Then listen to your maternal X chromosome. That one seems to be the more reasonable one of the two.”
