It was stupid. She knew it was stupid. Ron was off doing Merlin knows what with Lavender and here she was crying alone. She shouldn't be doing this. She was better than this. She could be doing so many other productive things right now. For instance, she could be with Krum or Harry, doing research, or spending her night curled up in bed with Crookshanks. However, she couldn't find the motivation to do anything else other than sit in silence. She couldn't get up or stop crying. She couldn't stop her heart from aching over a boy that she had a massive crush on but failed to even comprehend the feelings that he had for her.

At the sound of footsteps down the steps behind her, she turned around to see none other than Draco Malfoy dressed in the finest robes money could offer.

She scoffed. Just her luck.

"What is it, Granger? Did your red headed rat run off?" The witty comment stung, and she shut her eyes to stop more tears from falling. It was only going to make his torment worse.

"Merlin, can't you tell when to not worry about something if it has nothing to do with you?"

"What'd he do this time?" He asked ignoring her question and sitting down next to her.

Hermione looked at him with wide eyes. What did he think he was doing talking to her like an old friend? They weren't friends. They didn't share secrets. They didn't talk.

"Didn't you hear me? Just leave it alone." She muttered curling up and wrapping her arms around her knees.

"No." Her head snapped to the left to look up at him. "No offense, Granger, but you could do a lot better than him. Especially when he chooses to ignore his blatantly obvious feelings and kiss that other girl."

"That supposed to make me feel better?" She rolled her eyes, shifting back into her curled up position.

"Granger, dance with me." She arched an eyebrow at him as he stood up in front of her and offered her his hand.

Not only had he sat down next to her and had an actual conversation with her, but he had also complimented her in a way. Not to mention, he was now asking her to dance with him.
