Spilling Tea
Maeve was lying on the couch of Alexandra's living room at Hogwarts, surrounded by various types of books, working on her NEWTs. The girl had decided that she wanted to teach Muggle Studies right after she graduated. Between the classes, personal study, and her muggleborn teacher-girlfriend by her side, there was a high chance that she'd be able to achieve her goal. She dropped the book she was reading and she looked at Alexandra who was grading some papers while humming some muggle tune and sipping her cup of tea. It seemed to be the only thing the woman could drink.
“Alex?”
“Hmm?”
“Do you think that I should change my name?”
“Why do you want to change it?”
“Well, I'm not exactly an Avery now, am I?”
“No, you're right. Do you have one in mind?”
“I could take yours.”
She spat her tea and looked at Maeve as if she was crazy.
“What? You know that no one can know about us. It would be stupid for you to take my name, and dangerous.”
“Calm down, it was just a joke. And I'll take your name sooner or later, once we get married.”
“Merlin, if Minerva spiked my tea I'll drown her in her precious Scottish whiskey.”
Maeve laughed at her antics and threw a pillow at her.
“Eh! Think about it. We could send wedding announcements to our families! I'd kill to see their faces.”
“They'd crash the wedding, that's what they would do. This kind of people can't accept that some people can be different and happy to be different. Yes, they'd definitely ruin the wedding.”
“So you're not against it.”
“What?”
“Marrying me.”
“We'll see after you're out of Hogwarts.”
“You said the same thing for going out with me. And look at us now.”
“So, do you have an idea of name?”
“What about Philyra? It means lover of music. It's rather fitting when you know me.”
“Tell me about it... I already regret introducing you to muggle music and songs...”
“Eh! Be honest, you like it when I sing.”
“I'm lucky that you know how to sing.”
“Spoilsport... But, really, what do you think about that name?”
“Philyra? Yeah, it suits you. I like it.”
“Do you like it enough for it to become your name once we get married?”
Maeve laughed at Alex's face and she received a pillow in the face as an answer.
