Bet (on you)

Bet (on you)

It was funny how a blink could change everything, really. (Because closing your eyes, for even a second‐ it's dangerous, and Harry can attest to that.)

It's a lesson he's learned many times, a little bit cruel and a lot early. But his eyes open this time, and when they meet Lucius', he feels better. (Because things will always be better when he there, he thinks, and closes his eyes once again. Trust costs a lot for him, but he is willing to pay the price this time.)

See, decisions made by a child are different from one's made by an adult because of one key factor: you know what you're giving up.

Chances are, you now know what it's like to get what you're willing to bet on now. When you're a child, you're not betting. You're out of control and helpless and scared.

But Harry would bet on Lucius all day long, because trust, once earned from him, is priceless. A sacrifice, but a willing one.

(Because Harry wants to bet on him, and he wants to put all of his trust in Lucius. He's always wanted to.)
