Chapter Eight: The Baby
Nine Months Later... February 13, 1992 Raven Dinas and Severus Snape were in St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. Raven was in the Maternity Unit with Severus. She was screaming in pain as she gave birth to her baby. Severus held her hand. "Push Baby." He said softly looking at her. "I can see the head." The doctor said looking at them. "Give me one more big push." The doctor said. She nodded and pushed with all of her strength. Soon they heard the baby crying. "It's a girl." The nurse said as she cut the umbilical cord and tied it. She smiled happily as the nurse went and cleaned off the baby. Soon the nurse came back over and handed Raven the small baby. "What is her name?" One of the nurses asked Raven. "Nina Lily Snape." Raven said looking at Severus happily. Severus looked at Raven. Nina Snape was a beautiful girl with black hair and bright blue eyes. "Can I hold her?" Severus asked as he looked at their beautiful daughter. "Of course you can, Severus." Raven said as she handed Nina to her father. Severus took Nina from Raven to allow her to get some sleep. Severus smiled as he gave Nina to the nurse. He then went and filled out all of the needed paperwork to claim their child. He then went home and got a few things that they would need.
Two Days Later... She smiled happily as she looked at Severus. They were on their way home from the hospital with Nina in their arms. They went to their new home and put Nina into a white basset in the living room. Severus took out a small duck from his frock coat and put it next to Nina smiling softly. Severus went back to Raven who was in the living room sitting on the couch. They held one another and smiled as they looked over at their daughter's room. "You do know that we still need to decide who should be Nina's god parents." Raven said looking at Severus. He nodded gently as he held her close to himself. "I was thinking that Molly and Arthur Weasley should be her god parents. I know for a fact that if anything were to happen to us, I know that they would take her in and love her as if she were one of their own children." Severus said looking at her gently. "Yeah that seems like an amazing idea." She said happily as she looked at him. They sent a patronus to Albus Dumbledore and asked if he could watch Nina for a bit. He came over and they gave him a list of what to do. They took a document and went to the Weasley burrow. Raven knocked on the door gently. Molly came and answered the door. "What brings you here?" She asked Raven. "We need to speak to you and your husband." Raven said looking at her with a small smile. "Oh come in." She said as she ushered the three of them inside. They went over and sat on the couch. Molly left and went to get Arthur. Soon they both came back and sat down as well. "What is it?" Molly asked. "We want you and Arthur to be Nina's god parents so if anything were to happen to us she would go straight to you, to someone we trust enough with both ours and Nina's safety and lives." Raven said looking at Molly. They both nodded understandingly before looking at one another. "We would be honored to be Nina's god parents." Arthur said as Raven looked at him happily. "I have some legal documentation that says if anything were to happen to us, Nina would go straight into your custody. And it will also state that you both are her god parents." Severus said. "All you need to do is sign it." Raven said looking at them. "It would be our honor." Molly said happily. Molly summoned a quill and ink. She signed it and handed the quill to Arthur and he signed it as well. They waited for the ink to dry before copying the document twice using magic. They all got a copy of it the contract. "Would you like to stay for dinner?" Molly asked them. "Yes, we would love that." Raven said as she hugged Severus. They stayed and got to know everyone better before finally leaving. They went home and they thanked Dumbledore for watching Nina. He went back to the school. They fed Nina and rocked her to sleep before putting her in her basset that was in their room. They showered and got ready for bed. They went into their bedroom and laid down on their bed and covered up. Raven and Severus cuddled each other as Raven closed her eyes. Severus closed his eyes and they both fell asleep.
Four Years Later... Severus Snape, Lucius Malfoy and Albus Dumbledore stand at the altar. Everyone stands as the wedding march is played. Nina comes into the room with flower petals spreading them everywhere as Jenny and Kimmie follow her. They go and stand across from the boys. Raven comes down the aisle in a beautiful long beaded white dress. She walks up to and stands across from Severus. "Dear friends and family, we are gathered here today to witness and celebrate the union of Raven Dinas and Severus Snape in marriage. In the years they have been together, their love and understanding of each other has grown and matured, and now they have decided to live their lives together as husband and wife." Dumbledore said. "May you always need one another, not to fill an emptiness, but to help each other know your fullness. May you want one another, but not out of lack. May you embrace one another, but not encircle one another. May you succeed in all important ways with each other, and not fail in the little graces. May you have happiness, and may you find it in making one another happy. May you have love, and may you find it in loving one another." Dumbledore said. "Do you Severus, take Raven to be your lawfully wedded wife, promising to love and cherish, through joy and sorrow, sickness and health, and whatever challenges you may face, for as long as you both shall live?" Dumbledore said. "I, Severus Snape, promise you, Raven Dinas, that I will be your husband from this day forward, to be faithful and honest in every way, to honor the faith and trust you place in me, to love and respect you in your successes and in your failures, to make you laugh and to be there when you cry, to care for you in sickness and in health, to softly kiss you when you are hurting, and to be your companion and your friend, on this journey that we make together." He said looking at her.
"Do you Raven, take Severus to be your lawfully wedded husband, promising to love and cherish, through joy and sorrow, sickness and health, and whatever challenges you may face, for as long as you both shall live?" He asked looking at her. "I, Raven Dinas, promise you, Severus Snape, that I will be your wife from this day forward, to be faithful and honest in every way, to honor the faith and trust you place in me, to love and respect you in your successes and in your failures, to make you laugh and to be there when you cry, to care for you in sickness and in health, to softly kiss you when you are hurting, and to be your companion and your friend, on this journey that we make together." She said happily. "Now for the exchange of rings." Dumbledore said. Lucius gives them the rings. "I Severus Snape give you Raven Dinas this ring as an eternal symbol of my love and commitment to you." He said as he put it onto her left ring finger. "With this ring, I thee wed." Severus said. She smiled and looked at him. "I, Raven Dinas give you Severus Snape this ring as an eternal symbol of my love and commitment to you." She said as she put it onto his left ring finger. "With this ring, I thee wed." She said smiling softly. "Wedding rings are made precious by our wearing them. Your rings say that even in your uniqueness you have chosen to be bound together. Let these rings also be a sign that love has substance as well as soul, a present as well as a past, and that, despite its occasional sorrows, love is a circle of happiness, wonder, and delight. May these rings remind you always of the vows you have taken here today." Dumbledore said. "By the power vested in me by the Ministry of Magic I now pronounce you husband and wife. Severus, You may kiss your bride." Dumbledore said. Severus smiled as they leaned in and kissed each other happily. "Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you Raven and Severus Snape." Dumbledore said happily. They held hands and smiled happily as fireworks lit up the ceiling of the Great Hall. They both smiled happily as they kissed once more before Nina ran up and hugged her parents. They smiled happily and hugged their daughter back lovingly.
Two Years Later... Raven Snape and her young six year old daughter Nina Lily Snape had lost both a father and a husband during the second world war. They walked up the large mountain to the school building. Once they got up to the building they walked in and went to the courtyard. She went over to a small memorial garden for all the people they had lost in throughout the two wars.

They engraved all of the names onto the small stone plaque that was placed in the front entrance of the garden. The two girls went and set up a small picnic in the garden. "Mommy?" Nina asked gently as she helped put down the blanket. "Yes, Babygirl?" She asked softly as she got out some food. "What was Daddy like?" She asked her mom. "Well baby. Your daddy was very kind, he loved me and you so much. When he found out that I was pregnant with you, he was so happy. He was also the best teacher that I have ever had. He was an amazing and brave person who died protecting the people he loves." She said looking at Nina. "He loved us all so much." She added gently. "I wish I could have known him longer." Nina said softly as she hugged her mom. "I know, baby." She said hugging her back. They both looked out at the sky and saw a beautiful pink, red and orange blended sky. "Let's eat." Raven said softly. Nina nodded and they began taking food and eating it as they watched the sunset. They watched the sky and ate their food. Raven looked over at her daughter who was now finished eating. Nina was laying in a small ball as she yawned softly and rubbed her eyes gently. "I'm tired, Mommy." She said softly as she looked up at her mother. "Okay, baby. Let's pick all of this up then we can go home." She said softly. Nina nodded and got up with Raven. They packed up the picnic and put everything into the small basket they had. "Let's go home, Nina." Raven said softly. Nina nodded gently. Raven leaned down and picked up Nina gently, she made sure that she had the basket. She smiled softly as she apparated home carried her home to a small house that had been built in the countryside of London. She went inside the house, went upstairs to Nina's bedroom. She dressed her daughter and got her all ready for bed before she laid her down, covered her up, tucking her in gently. Raven kissed Nina's head gently. "Goodnight, Babygirl. I love you." She said softly. "Goodnight Mommy. I love you too." Nina said back. Raven smiled, she shut off the lights and left the room. She went to her own bedroom, got ready for bed, she laid down and went to sleep.
