At the time of the show most of the contestants were 16 years old, all still in high school with their lives ahead of them some with more potential than others
Unbeknownst to the viewers but noah and cody had gotten close through out the show and even at playa des losers.
The contestants all arrived at the dock on a saterday each giving their introductions perfectly scripted by themselves to show their respective personalities
when cody got off the boat and looked at the group who had gotten there before him he couldn't help but blush upon seeing this one cute guy, he had dark skin and even darker long hair, in the shock cody forgot his lines instead fumbling them and sounding like a creep
Slapping himself in his mind he stood next to a girl with teal hair, cody had always wanted to dye his hair but didnt know how maybe if he became her friend she could teach him!!
On monday cody was sitting outside the cabin his attempts to befriend gwen had failed ending with her thinking he had a crush on her they had only filmed one challenge episode so far as the first two days were used for them to get used to their new surroundings and he still messed up with her "ughhh what the heck is wrong with me why cant i just talk to people" he laid his head on his knees and sighed
"probably because you act like a total creep" his head shot up and saw noah immediately his face went pink and his heart started racing "i uh.. i dont mean to be im not even interested in any of them i just freak out and sound like i am" he looked away embarrassed
"Hm that sucks. Anyways have fun with your moping party im just grabbing my book" cody nodded still blushing like crazy and moved over a bit so noah could go past him and inside the cabin
When he returned he immediately went towards the woods holding a book in pristine shape and a head lamp knowing it was getting dark
The hazelnut boy just watched him walk away before looking at the sky and seeing the beautiful sunset
immediately he shot up and sped towards noah "hey wait man you shouldnt go out there alone its getting dark"
In the cover of the trees he saw him roll his eyes "i could get eaten by a bear for all i care i have a schedule and im sticking to it tv show be damned" cody frowned at this obviously not liking the others wording "well then im coming with you someone needs to protect you from any stray bears" the boy winked and shot him finger guns after he spoke confident in his "strength"
Noah sighed and kept walking as cody followed behind him he was annoyed at the extra addition to his daily schedule but at the same time he was happy the boy he was crushing on wanted to "protect" him despite both of their obvious lack of strength and muscle.
They walked in silence enjoying the peace of the woods quickly finding their way to the unlit bomb fire, the area was still warm from the previous elimination ceremony
Noah made his way to the stumps and sat next to one making sure he was in a reasonable position ,perfect reading and comfort, the same one he sat in every night for the past 6 years for every nightly reading
Cody watched noah do his little sit examination and made his way over sitting on the stump behind him as he opened the book to start reading. Cody wasnt sure what to do he had left on a whim and didnt bring anything to entertain himself so he did what he thought was a bold move and looked over noahs shoulder reading along with him
Noah didnt say a word occasionally non verbally checking if he was done before turning the page obviously at his social limit for the day the two sat in silence for two hours reading, enjoying the calm of the situation before gwen sadly came to find them worried at their disappearance
As they walked back to camp she sent a knowing glance towards cody the events of the week finally making sense in her mind.
The boys continued their new nightly routine until noah got voted off on Wednesday sure cody was upset he didnt help in dodgeball but he would miss his company
He sadly walked back to his cabin just to see a book on his bed with a sticky note attached to it
*i've read this like a thousand times how about you finish it tell me your thoughts on it next time we see each other xo~ Noah *
His face flushed reading the note staring directly at the xo at the end surely it was just meant to be friendly theres no way the boy would like him back... he shook his head to keep his thoughts from spiraling and grabbed the book walking towards the campsite to read it determined to finish it before he gets voted off.

Everything hurt
He couldnt move, he was wet and he was upset. Nobody had cared when he got voted off nobody cared that he was mauled by a bear
but most of all he wasn't able to finish the book like he planned it had been 4 days since noahs elimination and cody wasnt a fast reader at all only making it about half way through before the challenge that left him temporarily disabled
He watched as the boat got closer to the hotel at least he gets to spend his healing time somewhere comfortable, he can slightly see a crowd of people waiting for his arrival
The one that stood out to him the most was a specific Indian-Canadian staring at the boat emotionless obviously attempting to figure out who was on the way
The boy was ashamed he didnt want anyone to see him like this let alone noah the feeling of dread only grew when he saw the pity in the others eyes as they met
Cody was silent as the group gasped at his condition he was silent as everyone left to do their own things he was silent as the intern wheeled him to his room and helped him onto the bed and left him in silence to do more work
The silence finally ended with a soft knock at the door before it clicked open revealing the bibliophile the same look of pity shining in his eyes
"Jesus man are you.. ok? Yaknow other than the obvious" cody had to hold in a snort when he heard the awkwardness in the others voice "other than the in your words obvious im fine no permanent damage other than some manly scars"
He tried to sound like his confident self but the bandages covering his face muffled his voice pathetically "makes sense when you fight a bear your bound to have some trophies"
He could hear the amusement in noahs voice his heart skipping a beat seeing his smile as he pulled up a chair to sit by the bed
"Hey noah?" The other hummed in order to acknowledge the boy "i wasnt able to finish the book in time.. would you be willing to read it to me?" He could feel his face flush in embarrassment luckily hidden by the bandages
Noah hummed again and got up going to codys bags and pulling out the book and sitting back down before wordlessly starting where cody had last left off his voice a calm and soothing tone
The two sat in the room for an hour reading before cody fell asleep leaning towards noah as much as he could, after seeing his peaceful face noah decided to stay not wanting to disturb the sleeping boy
If noah later fell asleep leaning on cody is a question left unanswered for anyone but the two boys.
