27th January 1976

The dimple in her left cheek when she smiled: her crooked smile when she laughed: the way her fingers seemed to find their way to her’s: the soft feeling of her hand as she placed it against her cheek: the small movements she would make to signal to her what was on her mind: the flowers she seemed to find no matter the weather.

Marlene could easily sit and list everything she loved about Dorcas.

Whilst it was common for people to not realise when they loved someone so completely, when they would move the stars for them, Marlene could give an exact date and time. It was eleven-thirty-seven am on the sixteenth of January.

They had been sitting in transfiguration, and Marlene had given up writing her notes, insteading opting to stare at her girlfriend and watch her scribble on the parchment. Dorcas was chewing on the end of her quill, oblivious to the fact that Marlene was watching her with a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.

She noticed her friends in their usual spot by the fireplace, with Dorcas between Sirius and Lily. “Budge up Black,” she said, not giving him time to move as she sat down next to Dorcas.

Grinning at Dorcas who smiled back, she placed an arm around her, kissing her cheek. “Good to see you too, McKinnon,” Sirius muttered, rolling his eyes.

“Evening, Love,” Marlene grinned, feeling her heart skip a beat when Dorcas smiled at the name.

“Evening to you too,” she replied, intertwining their fingers.
