Chapter 19

Draco’s POV

Draco didn’t think twice about leaving Potter back at the broom shed. He had much bigger things to deal with than to sit than fight with stupid Potter. He stormed through the castle as he headed towards the dungeons.

If Draco was thinking clearly, he might not have ended up in front of Severus’s study, but he was blinded by too much anger to care. He pounded on the door until Severus opened it.

“Draco? What are y-“ Severus started, but Draco pushed him out of the way and walked inside.

“Draco what’s wrong?” Severus asked worriedly.

“What’s wrong? What’s wrong is you’re going out into the woods to talk to Quirrell about stealing the Sorcerer’s Stone!” Draco yelled.

“How do you know about the stone?” Severus asked sternly.

“That doesn’t matter. What matters is I have been defending you for months, and you’ve been trying to take the stone and use it for yourself!” Draco exclaimed.

“Draco you need to stay out of this. The stone doesn’t have anything to do with you.” Severus told him.

Draco looked up at his godfather. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “So you’re not even going to deny that you want the stone? I trusted you.” he said hurt.

Severus sighed but before he could say anything else Draco left the study slamming the door behind him. He started to walk back to the Gryffindor common room when he heard someone call his name.

“Draco!” He turned around expecting it to be Snape, but was relieved when he saw his Pansy, Blaise, and Theo standing in the hallway.

”What are you doing down here?” Blaise asked. Draco sighed as he walked over to them, “I needed to talk to Severus about something.”

They nodded and then Theo asked, “Are you okay Draco? You seem upset.”

“Just stupid Potter and his need to be right,” Draco explained.

“We were just about to head to dinner. Do you want to join us?” Pansy asked softly.

“I’m not really hungry right now,” Draco said.

“Come on,” Pansy said and started to drag Draco back towards the Slytherin common room, “I’ll have one of the elves from the kitchen send up some food, and we’ll eat in Blaise and Theo’s room, Okay?”

Draco smiled and nodded as he followed the others inside the Slytherin common room. Draco almost forgot what the common room looked like. As he looked around, he tried to take every detail back into memory. He hated it, but this place felt more like home than anyplace he’s been in a while.

”Come on Draco. Our rooms up this way,” Blaise said as he led them up the stairs to the right dorm. Once they entered the dorm, Draco realized how much he missed this place. He looked around and saw all the Slytherin stuff lying around and remembered how that stuff used to be his.

”Whose bed is that?” Draco asked, pointing at the bed that used to be his. “No one’s. Just an extra,” Theo answered and plopped down onto his bed.

Draco was relieved to hear that no one had taken his spot. He sat down next to Blaise and sighed. He didn’t realize how stressed he’d been today with everything going on.

”I’ll go fetch a kitchen elf to get some food,” Pansy said and started to walk to the door.

“Pansy wait!”, Draco said trying to stop her, “You don't have to go down.”

Pansy looked confused, “What are you talking about?”

“I’ll just call Dobby to come here. Dobby!” Draco said. The group waited to see if the elf would actually come and in seconds a pop echoed in the room.

Dobby looked around the room and smiled once he saw Draco sitting on the edge of the bed. Dobby bowed and asked, “Master Draco, what can Dobby do for you?”

“Hello Dobby! How have you been?” Draco asked the elf. Dobby’s smile grew wide as he answered, “Dobby has been great. Dobby has made lots of friends in the kitchens and is loving Hogwarts!”

Draco gave Dobby a small smile. He was happy the elf was enjoying it here. “That’s good to hear. I’m sorry I haven’t stopped by too much. I’ll make sure to visit the kitchens more often.”

“Dobby would really like that, Master Draco,” Dobby said. “Anyways, Dobby we were wondering if you could send up some dinner for us from the kitchens?” Draco asked politely.

“Of course, Master Draco. Dobby will be right back,” Dobby said before he left back to the kitchens.

Blaise, Theo, and Pansy had been watching the interaction between their friend and the elf in silence. They didn’t really know what to think. They weren’t used to Draco being so nice to a house elf.

“Since when were you so nice to Dobby?” Theo asked, breaking the silence in the room. Draco looked over at the three Slytherins and saw the confused looks on their faces. He then realized that he hadn’t treated his house elves like that in front of others. “Umm… I guess I always have. I’m just not as nice as home though because of my father,” Draco explained.

“So are you going to tell us what’s got you so upset?” Blaise pestered and bumped his side. “Yeah, I’ve rarely seen you that angry before,” Pansy commented.

Draco sighed knowing he couldn’t tell the whole story. “Potter and I got into this fight. He said somethings about Severus and just had to prove he was right,” Draco said, getting as close to the truth as possible.

“What a git he is,” Theo exclaimed. The other two Slytherins nodded in agreement and chimed in, “Who does he think he is?” “Bloody Hell man, what did he say?”

Draco thought back to his conversation with Potter and Severus. All the emotions he felt before resurfaced. “He was just saying that Severus was a terrible and greedy person basically,” Draco sighed.

“Since when does Potter know anything about Snape?” Theo questioned. “Exactly you can’t listen to what he said about him,” Pansy backed him up.

Draco just nodded knowing they really couldn’t understand that maybe what Potter said could be true. Draco shook his head. He couldn’t be thinking like that.

Draco was about to say something when Dobby popped back into the dorm with another elf. They both carried big trays full of food that even Draco had to admit looked really appetizing.

“Master Draco, where would you like Dobby and Cosa to set these trays at?” Dobby asked politely.

“Can you set them on the trunks in front of these beds?” Draco replied.

“Of course Master Draco,” Dobby said and quickly placed his tray down as Cosa did the same.

“Thank you Dobby, Cosa,” Draco told the two elves.

“Is there anything else Dobby can get you Master Draco?” Dobby asked.

“No, that will be all. I’ll visit you soon Dobby,” Draco said and the two elves left the room. They all started to fill their plates full of food and sat down on Blaise and Theo’s beds again.

“So,” Pansy started looking around at each of her friends as a smirk grew on her face, “What are we thinking for revenge?”

❀ ❀ ❀

The next morning Draco was sitting in the common room reading a potions book when he felt both sides of the couch dip beside him. He looked up and saw a pair of redheads with wide grins.

“So Draco,” Fred started, taking the book from his hands and setting it aside.

“We heard you were in the market for prank supplies,” George continued.

“Actually, I am,” Draco replied surprised.

“Well, we have-” George said, pulling out a box filled with different items

“-Exactly what you need,” Fred finished.

Draco smiled and started digging through the box to see what it contained. This will definitely work, he thought and started to pick out what he wanted.
