Chapter 2

Draco slept soundly through the night for the first time in a while, but he was woken up earlier than he would've liked. He groaned as his eyes adjusted to the sunlight streaming into the room. He glanced around his room and felt that something was different, but he just brushed it off as anxiety for what was to come. He just needed everything to be normal, and for Severus to contact him soon. A voice then spoke and drew Draco's attention to beside his bed.

"Master Draco, you are expected downstairs for breakfast in half an hour," said Dobby.

Draco's eyes grew wide. "Dobby, what are you doing here? You're going to get hurt if they see you," he whispered and quickly stood up from his bed.

Dobby looked at him confused and answered, but Draco was too distracted to listen. The house elf had seemed to have grown at least a foot as he was as tall as Draco's chest, but as Draco looked closer, he was the one who had become shorter.

"Dobby, get me a mirror!" Draco ordered.

The house elf ran off to the bathroom and came back with a handheld mirror. Draco took the mirror and held it up to his face. His stomach dropped at what he saw. He looked exactly like his eleven year old self.

"Master Draco, is something wrong?" Dobby asked.

Draco was still stunned but unsurely answered, "I don't know."

"Might I remind you that Master Lucius is waiting for you downstairs," Dobby offered.

Draco snapped his head away from the mirror to look at the house elf. "My father is here?"

"Yes, Master Lucius just got back from Scotland last night. He said he needed to talk to you about your plans for today."

Draco tried to wrap his mind around what was happening. He somehow ended up inside his eleven year old body, and his father had escaped from Azkaban. It didn't make any sense until Draco came to a realization. It can't be, he thought.

"Dobby, could you bring me the newspaper?" Draco asked.

"Right away, Master Draco," Dobby answered and left the room only to come back just as quick with the newspaper in his hand.

Draco swiftly took the paper from the house elf's hand when he offered it to him. The newspaper unfolded in his hands, and he looked down at the front page. He wasn't interested in the headline news though and he looked directly at the date instead.

Draco's stomach dropped once more when he saw the date, and his thoughts were confirmed. Today was July 31, 1991. He had time travelled five years into the past and had no idea how.

Draco didn't know what to do but the only thing that was clear was that his father was waiting for him, and unless his father had a character change, he shouldn't keep him waiting. This issue would have to wait.

"Tell father I'll be downstairs in ten minutes," Draco told Dobby, who was waiting for a sign to be let go.

"Of course, Master Draco," Dobby replied and left the room with a pop.

Draco was freaking out on this inside. He was so confused and had so many questions with no one to answer them. He didn't have time to dwell on this now. He needed to meet his father downstairs.

He went to his closet and looked through his clothes for an outfit. Once he found something that would please his father, he headed to the bathroom and changed clothes. He then brushed his teeth and started to fix his hair. As he started to brush it out, he noticed a container of hair gel sitting on his counter and knew he needed to slick back his hair like he did when he was young for his father to be satisfied and not notice anything different about him.

When he finished his hair, he headed out of his room and walked downstairs. He soon faced the same double doors of the dining room as he did the night before, or at least what he remembered the night before was. He found it astonishing that one day this was the room where his worst nightmare unfolded and the very next it never happened.

This time Draco pushed the doors to enter the room himself. The room wasn't filled with Death Eaters, none of the Manor was anymore. Instead, his mother and father were the only occupants. His mother was eating her breakfast in peace, and his father was reading another copy of the Daily Prophet, though he was interested in the articles and not the date like his son.

Draco walked over to his usual seat and drew his father's attention when he sat down. His father's blank stare turned into one of annoyance as he looked towards his son.

"Nice of you to finally greet us with your presence," Lucius said, "We've been waiting for ten minutes. Breakfast has started to become cold."

Draco nodded in acknowledgement, and filled his plate with eggs and toast. As he began to eat, his father spoke again.

"Today is going to be a busy day and we can't have anymore setbacks in the schedule."

"Yes, Father," Draco mumbled as a response.

Lucius grew angry at his son's response and slammed his fist into the table. "How many times do I have to remind you, Malfoy's do not mumble. If you have something to say, then speak up. Do you understand?"

"Yes, Father," Draco replied, clearly this time to not anger his father any further. No one spoke after that and they all focused on the food in front of them.

Their silence was soon broken when a house elf came into the room and delivered a letter to Lucius. Lucius took the letter and looked to see who it was addressed to. With a pleased look on his face, he handed the letter to his son and said, "I expected this to arrive today which is why our day will be so busy."

Draco took the letter from his father and as he looked down at it, he realized it was his Hogwarts letter. He opened it and read what it said to himself. It was the same letter he read five years ago, but the excitement he felt all those years ago was replaced with anxiety. He would have to relive the next five years of his life, but maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

"You and I will go to Diagon Alley at eleven o'clock sharp to buy your school supplies and an owl. We will need to be back at the Manor by six because Severus will be meeting us for dinner. Afterwards, you and your godfather will have your weekly potions tutoring. Do you understand, or are you going to make me repeat myself?" Lucius said sternly.

"I understand Father," Draco answered.

Nothing else was said as they all finished their food, and once Draco was finished, he asked if he could head back up to his room. After his father dismissed him, he rose from his seat and left for his room.

When he got to his room, he immediately went over to his bed and laid in it. As he stared at his ceiling, he tried to process what was happening with his life. Only last night he was a sixteen year old boy whose life was about to change forever, and today only half of that was true. He felt lost and unsure about where to go from here.

He knew enough about time travel to know the only ways it was accomplished was by being an Unspeakable, having a Time Turner, or coming in contact with a cursed object that was cursed for time travel. Since he's never had a job or ever held a Time Turner in his life, it must have been a cursed object. The only question was what was that object?

Draco started to think back to last night to see if he remembered anything out of the ordinary. He tried hard, but couldn't recall anything being usual, though the Manor had become very hectic over the last summer. With Death Eaters coming in and out, any item could've been cursed.

He sat up and tried again to remember anything when he looked over at his night stand. He locked eyes with a silver, dragon necklace, and everything made sense. After he left Severus's room and went back to his own, he found the necklace he had been missing for months just laying on his bed. Someone had to have planted it there for him to find. This wasn't an accident. Someone wanted him to travel five years into the past, but why and who? Those were questions he couldn't answer, and it was hard to find the answer to something that technically hasn't happened.

Draco looked at his clock and realized he needed to meet his father in half an hour. He got off his bed and went to his bathroom to check if his hair was still in place. He then picked out a new outfit that was better fit for going to Diagon Alley then staying at the Manor. After he was done changing, he looked back into the mirror and felt that he was missing something.

He walked back to his night stand and grabbed his dragon necklace to put around his neck. As he finished hooking the clasp, he noticed a piece of paper lying where his necklace once was. He picked it up and looked at what it said.

"You can only tell five," Draco read aloud, but before he could give it a second thought Dobby entered the room.

"Master Lucius is waiting for you downstairs, Master Draco," Dobby informed.

Draco nodded and set the note back on the nightstand. He followed the house elf out of the room to where his father was waiting for him in front of the fireplace.

"Go ahead, Draco. We haven't got all day," Lucius ordered.

Draco complied and grabbed a handful of floo powder. He stepped into the fireplace and threw the powder down as he shouted, "Diagon Alley." Green flames erupted around him, and he was transported out of the Manor.
