Miscommunication
Walking, just walk focus on that. You can do this Remus, it’s just Sirius. Beautifully stunning Sirius who makes me bloody weak at the knees. With his perfectly tousled hair, and perfect eyes, his perfect smile, his perfect laugh and his perfect neck which stands tall accentuated by that chiselled jaw and defined collar bones. Merlin this man is gonna kill me. Now all I have to do is stand before the man I’m in love with and say well say I love him… alright that’s easier said than done, or thought than done I suppose. Come on focus Remus. What how am I still in the common room. Oh merlin people are looking at me, I’ve been pacing this entire.
“You alright mate?” Remus turned to face the man he’d been thinking about- stressing about for the last two hours. Mate? Oh this is already bad… abort mission? No I can do this come on lupin! “Moony?” Oh man his voice, it’s so hot when he’s concerned. Smooth with an edge of gravel.
“Sorry? I mean” Remus cleared his throat. “Yes I’m pads fine. I mean I’m fine pads.”
A small laugh broke through Sirius’ ‘punk exterior. Oh merlin he’s already laughing I can’t do this. Im a mess I just need to tell James before he says anything. Yeah I need the map. Without thinking twice remus turns and runs up to the dorm room faintly hearing Sirius call from behind him “alright bye then?”
Remus burst though the door his heart still hammering in his chest, he spots James sat on Sirius’ bed looking at the map. Guess I don’t need the map anymore. “James!”
A smirk crosses James lips, shit he probably thinks I’ve already told Sirius. “Yes moons?” Ew why’d he call me moons James never calls me that. Focus Remus!
Panting slightly as his heart beat try’s to regain a healthy speed, he speaks. “James I decided I’m not gonna tell Sirius I love him, I’d rather have him as a friend than not at all. And I mean think of the marauders it will throw off the whole dynamic and I know you said you think Sirius feels the same but I don’t see it I mean look at him. He’s a bloody god!”James just sits there staring at Remus with… disbelief. “Just promise me you won’t say anything yeah?”
James blinks a few times, and within a blink of an eye he’s standing before Remus… kissing him. What the fuck… JAMES?!?! Remus pushes James away from him as soon as his brain finally catches up. James looks like a kicked puppy, a small pout displayed on his lips.
“I- um…” Remus stumbles not knowing what to say. I’ve just confessed my feelings to this man about being in love with his best friend and then he kisses me… what?
“Was this a prank?” James whispers hurt evident in his voice.
Was what a prank? “What? I don’t understand, why’d you kiss me?”
James eyes trailed across Remus’ face, James still held a look of fear, and confusion. “Saying you loved me? Was it a prank?”
Did I say that? I mean I love him like a friend maybe even a brother… but what the fuck “James I don’t-“
“OH BLOODY MERLIN! No no no I’m Sirius. Fuck I took a polyjucie potion. Remus it’s me!” James or maybe Sirius grabbed Remus face holding him as he stared into his eyes.
Sirius likes me? Sirius kissed me? Oh merlin… no that can’t be, Sirius doesn’t… he can’t. Remus pushed James’ hands away “stop it James, it’s not fair. I get it you think I should tell Sirius. But this is just cruel.”
“I swear to you moons it’s me. Um… I remember that yesterday I crawled into your bed after I heard you having a nightmare, you told me about it. And I just held you until you fell asleep. I left before you woke but I just didn’t want to put you on the spot in-front of the others. You don’t know how badly I wanted to stay.” Remus watched James- Sirius intently as he spoke. “Please moons it’s me.”
Merlin, this is not how I expected this to go. I really wanna kiss Sirius right now after that confession but I can’t kiss James… even if it’s just his face. “Why in merlins name are you James right now?”
“It was for a prank, it should wear off in about an hour.” Sirius smiled. “So you love me?” Remus nodded shyly. “Moons I love you too!” He stepped forward going to close the gap between them.
Remus pushed Sirius back. “Nope to weird, I’ll kiss you when you’re you again.”
“But that’s an hour away!” Sirius moaned trying out his signature pout but not having the same effect in James’ body.
“Well tough you should have thought of that before.” Remus crossed his arms.
“But I’ve waited years to kiss you!”
“Years? Plural?” Sirius simple smiled in response.
