Independence Day

Gotham City

July 4, 12:00 EDT

Freeze attacked the picnickers in Gotham City park, ignoring their screams of fear and freeing them.

He cornered one family as they stand there, unable to do anything due to shock.

"Enjoying family time?" Freeze asked rhetorically, freezing the family directly after. "My family has other plans." He then slid down the ramp, jumping off the cliff, taking aim at the running citizens of Gotham, only for a batarang to throw off his aim.

"Batman," he said, as if he was expecting this, "I was wondering when-"

He turned to find no one there, childish laughter echoing around him, which in an open area is an impressive feat.

A black shadow jumped out of its hiding spot, yet what landed on him wasn't Batman, but Robin, decked out in red, yellow and black tactical gear.

He then knocked out the ice-villain, grabbing two birdarangs and cracking the glass of his helmet in the process.

"Oh. Boy Wonder," Freeze drawled, "The Bat sent you to drag me off to prison? Frankly, I'm underwhelmed."

"Great, but I'm kind of in a hurry here," Robin dismissed, despite the fact that the gun was blazing back to life.

"Kids. Always in a rush."

"Not talking to you," Robin rolled his eyes in a sing-song voice, as Freeze looks up, only to see Batman arrive — a punch flying to his jaw. The glass helmet shattered even more.

Main Bridge, Star City

July 4, 9:01 PDT

Icicle Junior landed and iced up the bridge, using his powers to create a shell of ice — knocking cars off balance and many vehicles crashing.

He laughed almost maniacally before a shower of arrows starts raining down in two colours, red and green. A green arrow hit him in the shoulder and started blinking red and beeping before blowing up and knocking him back to where he was.

As the head trauma begins to subside, he turned his head to one of the towers, only to see two heroes dressed in green and red, both aiming arrows at the ice-themed villain.

"Finally! I was wondering what a guy had to do for attention around here!"

His left hand, now facing the pair of archers, grew in size, becoming more mace-like in style, before he brought it back and began launching icicles at the archers.

The two began releasing arrows with ease, not letting the villain's rage distract them.

"Junior's doing this for attention?" Speedy asked, surprised. The first batch of arrows explode thanks to their arrows, but the second set still comes through, forcing the two to run across the tower, dodging them. "I'm telling you now, this little distraction better not interfere."

The two launched a pair of arrows at Icicle Junior, who created a shield in front of him. However, the arrows were explosive, creating a hole in the shield. Using this to his advantage, Junior launched an icicle at the younger archer.

Speedy jumped, flipping them over as he grabbed and strung another arrow. As he straightened out, he took aim and fired at Junior, hitting him right in the jaw, knocking him down and out.

Green Arrow chuckled, standing mere feet from where Junior ended his slide. "Kid had a glass jaw," he commented as his partner landed gracefully a few feet away.

"Hilarious," Speedy deadpanned, stepping closer to Green Arrow. "Can we go?" his patience was clearly wearing thin, "Today's the day."

Pearl Harbour

July 4, 6:02 HST

The harbour had many large shards of ice sticking out of the water, many of the ships frozen in place. Killer frost iced more of the ships, and created even more snowfall. However, she threw it at Aquaman, who dodged and came down from the open bridge to the turret, then to the second turret before jumping to the deck.

She predicted this, freezing him before he could get more than two feet down from the deck. Behind him and off to his left was Aqualad, jumping down from the first turret and over to his almost frozen mentor, who he breaks out and follows after him.

"Don't tell me you're not excited," Aquaman said, starting a conversation between him and his partner.

"Right now, My King, I am more focused on the task at hand," the dark-skinned Atlantean told him, his voice expressing in a very formal tone. He dodged a shot of ice, before tricking Killer Frost into shooting him.

Right before she could shoot him, he took out his water-bearers that form into a pair of maces, causing the tattoos on his arm to glow brightly.

He managed to defeat her by knocking her out. Aquaman stopped a few feet behind him, arms crossed, gaining the teen's attention. "Well?"

"Yes, I'm excited." Aqualad confessed. "Today's the day."

Central City

July 4, 11:03 CDT

Ice covered the edge of a whole in the wall of a jewelry store. On the road, Captain Cold was trapped by the Flash and Kid Flash running circles around the villain. He attempted to shoot them, twice, but wasn't even close to hitting them, missing them each time. He shot ice a third time, nearly hitting the Flash, only to miss and end up hitting a car — freezing it solidly into what it would look like if it had crashed.

"Stealing ice? Really? Isn't that a bit cliché for even Captain Cold?" Flash asked, still running circles around him.

"Come one!" Kid Flash called out, "We don't have time for this!" and with that he slipped on his red goggles, stopping running in circles and heading for Cold's turned back instead.

Cold turned towards the sound of his voice, his talking giving away his position, and turned the gun towards him.

Kid Flash dodges the stream of ice, though some manages to hit his shoulder, and faced towards the ice-themed villain, snagging the gun away and knocking the ice off his shoulder as he skids to a stop.

Cold growled, clenching his empty fist in frustration. As he goes to hit the yellow-themed hero, Flash hit him hard in the face, knocking him out cold.

"Calm down, Kid," he says nonchalantly.

"Oh please!" Kid Flash cried out in annoyance. "You'll chat up with the cops, with bystanders, even with Cold!" he gestured the now unconscious villain to prove his point.

"No. No way!" he stepped towards his mentor, despite the height difference, Flash seemed to be taking him seriously. "Today's the day!" his green eyes glowed with excitement.

Washington D.C

July 4, 4:45 EDT

"And tell me again why I can't go out as your protege?" Estelle whined while her mother dashed across the room, packing for a mission that required the full Justice League. Something about a sorcerer or something, she wasn't paying attention.

"Because, it's too dangerous, and you don't have a firm hold of your newfound powers." She was specifically talking about Estelle's parentage and abilities. After she found out she was a witch, she was trained by a magician named Giovanni Zatara, who helped her control her magic. He even had a daughter her age, Zatanna. They were close.

After seeing how uncontrolled her magic was, he suggested a blood test and a trip to Gringotts — a Wizarding bank.

Long story short, she was part siren and could control someone using her voice, as well as being the next Mistress of Death.

That was shocking news, also the fact that she had someone's soul living in her scar — which was disgusting. The goblins had said that they could remove it, which she readily agreed to. It was painful, but she got that disgusting Horcrux out of her system, and her scar was healing.

And now here mother was being so unfair about not letting her go out a her protege!

"But every hero has one! Aquaman, Flash, Green Arrow, even 'I work alone' Batman!" Estelle listed off, using her fingers.

"Not right now, sweetie. You're not ready yet. Now, I need to go take care of this mission, while you stay put and practice your magic, alright?" Diana sighed, grabbing her bag so that she could change instead of walking outside in her suit.

"Fiiiine," her daughter whined.

"It's for your own good, Estelle. I need to go now. Bye!" the moment her mother walked out the door, Estelle pulled out a dark leotard and leather boots, a black cape with a skull clasp attached.

She smirked, she definitely wasn't going to 'stay put.'
