Chapter 1
The dark and gloomy sky outside of your childhood home reflected exactly what you felt inside. Spinners End was not the place to be after you had just gotten heartbroken but it was the only place you had left. You couldn’t go back to the flat you and Remus shared because it just held too many memories.
“Stop sulking. You should be glad you got rid of the werewolf when you did,” Severus’s voice said as it echoed throughout the living room.
“I’m not sulking. I’m simply just thinking,” you replied.
“Well stop thinking. It will do you no good,” Severus commented.
When he was Professor Snape he was intimidating and an extremely rude man but, when he was just Severus he was an amazing brother who deeply cared for his little sister. To be honest, he was really upset when you and Remus started dating but he learned to not comment on it or else it would end up with the two of you fighting and he really hated fighting with you. He learned his lesson with Lily. Never let the ones you love go.
“How about we go out and do something then. We could go to Hogsmede and chat up Madam Rosmerta I haven’t talked to her in a while,” you suggested.
“Absolutely not. I am not going anywhere near that castle until I am forced to go back,” Severus scoffed at the suggestion.
“Weren’t you the one who suggested I stop sulking,” you challenged.
Severus thought about it for a moment then sighed.
“Fine but If I see one student I will go home and leave you there.” Severus was reluctant to accompany you but he couldn’t just leave his only sister to fend for herself after a heartbreak. You were there for him when Lily died so he shall be there for you.
You were overjoyed that for once your brother finally agreed to go with you to Hogsmeade. During your Hogwarts days, Severus, never went to Hogsmede unless Lily was going to accompany him. Lily was always “too busy” or would “forget” to invite him. You couldn’t blame her though, she was pretty and popular so she had far more important matters to attend to.
You both put on your coats over your tall, lanky, bodies and headed out into the world for the first time since you had arrived at Spinners End.

The Three Broomsticks was empty except for an old man who looked completely out of it by the time you and Severus had arrived. Both of you were relieved to find the pub empty. Neither of you felt completely ready to handle the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
“Rosie! I’m back,” you called out to the curly-haired woman who stood behind the counter.
“How’s my favorite Lupin,” she beamed. Your smile immediately turned into a frown. You couldn’t blame her for still calling you by his last name. You hadn’t told everyone in the wizarding world about what happened so how could they know. Technically it still was your last name considering the divorce papers still haven’t gotten through.
“Did I say something wrong?” Rosmerta asked as she noticed your sullen mood.
“He cheated on me, Rosie,” you cried. You didn’t even notice that you were holding all of your emotions in. This was the first time since that day that you allowed yourself to cry. The memories of that night kept playing in your head and made your heart pang within your chest.
“He did what!?” she shouted.
“You heard her woman! Don’t make her repeat herself,” Severus said with annoyance.
“I’m sorry it’s just a shock to me that’s all. He didn’t look like the type to do such a thing,” Rosmerta commented.
“You can’t judge a book by its cover,” you sniffled as you tried to sound clear as your voice was trembling with sadness.
“I’m really sorry love. Can I get you anything?” Rosmerta sympathized.
“Four shots of FireWhisky. I could use it,” you decided.
“I think two’s enough,” Severus chimed in. You rolled your eyes but agreed to only have two.
As the night went on you laughed and cried some more but all good times have to come to an end right?
“I think we should get going. It’s almost midnight and I dont want you out that late,” Severus said as the older brother in him kicked in. You hesitantly agreed. You finally were having a good time and didn’t want it to come to an end.
“Be safe you two. Good night,” Rosmerta bid farewell.
“Night,” you replied as Severus just stayed quiet. You seemed to be the only person he could talk to without yelling at for the entire conversation.
Outside the pub was eerie and silent. There was no wind, no breeze, no nothing. Only the sound of your breathing and that is exactly what you needed at that moment. Complete and utter silence.

Spinners End was once again dark and gloomy but that didn’t reflect your mood anymore. Last night in that pub allowed you to let all of your pent-up feelings out. You no longer felt sad or angry at the world. Some would say you were “moving on” too fast but you weren’t the one who was caught cheating.
The grandfather clock that was sitting in the far right corner of the living room read 10:00 am. By this time you usually would have been up and out of the door ready to head to work at Tomes and Scrolls which was a book shop in Hogsmede. Instead, you were at home with your brother listening to him complain on and on about a handful of his students.
“He really can’t get it through his thick head that Granger won’t always be there to help him,” Severus drawled on about his least favorite student after the golden trio, Neville Longbottom.
“Leave the poor boy alone. He’s probably terrified of you and your only fueling his nightmares,” you chimed in, you were starting to get annoyed at his ranting.
“I cannot simply just leave him alone when he constantly does thi-” Severus started but was interrupted by a knock at the door. That was odd, you two weren’t expecting anyone. Severus went to go get the door while he instructed you to stay put. When the door opened you heard Severus and a very familiar voice start to bicker with each other then, the door promptly shut and locked itself.
“Who was it?” you asked, suddenly curious. There was another knock at the door.
“No one important,” he commented. You knew that he was hiding something. There was another knock at the door this time it was much more persistent.
“I’m going to check,” you said as you got up off of the couch. Severus tried to stop you but you didn’t listen.
When the door opened you saw him, the infamous Sirius Black, the best friend of your cheating ex-husband. You were surprised to find him alone, if he ever traveled out of 12 Grimmwauld Place he usually had someone with him but there were no familiar faces in sight.
“What are you doing here? I swear if you’re here to talk to me about Remus I will close the door on you just like my brother did,” you whispered.
“I’m not, I swear. Just let me in and I’ll explain everything,” he pleaded. You thought about it for a moment and sighed. If you were going to act like an adult you should let at least one person explain themselves. You opened the door wider and allowed him to slip right in.
“Why would you let him in?” complained Severus through gritted teeth. You only rolled your eyes and gestured for Sirius to follow you into the living room. Severus followed of course. He couldn’t let you be alone with any man, especially Sirius.
“So, explain yourself,” you urged Sirius.
“Alright,” he took a deep breath in and let it out, “When Molly found your note that morning she showed it to all of us. To make a long story short, I got angry and punched Remus on the nose then I kicked him out and he’s also no longer a part of the order. I haven’t talked to Tonks yet but I’ll owl her mother and let her do the reprimanding,” he finished.
Severus was in the corner of the room, arms crossed and a stone-cold face. After Sirius’s explanation, he had a microscopic smile on his face. He was happy that your bastard of an ex-husband was finally getting what he deserved. You although, were stunned. Why would he do all of this just for you? Your nothing special to him (or so you thought) so it was odd that Sirius would go through all that trouble and risk his last friendship just for you.
“You did all of that for me? Why?” you questioned.
“Because I love you,” both you and Severus let your jaws go slack at the confession. “I have for a while actually but I never said anything because it was already too late. You and Remus were already married by the time I realized it wasn’t just some silly little crush. You made me feel happy and you genuinely cared for me. You didn’t try to fit in like the other girls did and that’s what got me. You are unique and kind and so beautiful. No man could ever resist loving you,” he answered.
Goddammit. That was the most beautiful thing someone has ever told you. Not even Remus had said such powerful words when you two got married.
“That was disgusting. Now if you two will excuse me, I am going to throw up,” Severus groaned as he walked away and stomped all the way to his room.
He was never really a romantic type of guy.
“Sirius, I don’t know what to say,” you pondered. You really didn’t. You had found out that you had gotten cheated on three days ago. This was far too soon.
“Say you’ll come back with me. I’ll give you everything you’ll ever need and you’ll never have to work another day in your life. I promise to stay by your side and love you till the day I die,” he pleaded. He was on both knees with his hands clasped in front of him. He looked as if he was pleading to the gods for forgiveness for his sins.
“This is all moving so fast. Can you give me some time? How would you prove to me that you’ll love me and stay loyal to me for the rest of your life?” you asked. You would give him a chance but one chance only. You weren’t one to give people who had done you wrong a second chance.
“Everything it takes,” he said looking into your eyes, “Let me take you out on a date. We can go where ever you want. It’ll l be on me,” he offered.
“I’m free next Friday,” you let him know. That got him smiling.
“I’ll make every second worthwhile,” he winked which made you shake your head and roll your eyes playfully.
“I think it’s best you get going. Severus doesn’t like it when guests stay for long,” you commented.
“That’s another thing I wanted to address, I will also learn to act civil with Sniv- I mean Severus if that what you want,” he added
“How thoughtful of you. I’m not sure that that would make up for the years you lot bullied him but it could help you two establish some sort of healthy relationship,” you reasoned. Remus hadn’t thought to be somewhat civil with your brother until you forced him to.
“It’s best I get going, wouldn’t want to upset your brother,” he said as he stood up.
“Would you like me to walk you out?” you asked as you also stood up.
He nodded, “If you wouldn’t mind.”
You walked him to the front door and opened it, letting the cold air from outside in. You grimaced as you thought about Sirius traveling home in this weather.
“Thank you for letting me explain myself. I dont know what I would have done if you didn’t,” he added.
You nodded and offered him a small warm smile, “Your welcome I’m glad we talked. Goodbye Sirius, I’ll see you next Friday,”
When the door closed, Severus, emerged from his room looking annoyed.
“Is the mutt gone?” he asked.
“Sev, stop being rude. He told me he would start to act civil with you. I need both of you to get over your stupid rivalry and act like adults,” you affirmed. Severus only rolled his eyes and went back into his room, the door closing roughly behind him.
You didn’t let your brother’s sassy attitude ruin your mood. Right now you felt giddy and excited. The last time you felt this way was when Remus had asked you out on your first date. For the first time in a while, you felt appreciated and it felt damn good.

When Sirius arrived home he had a little pep in his step. Everyone noticed it, they also noticed that he didn’t bring back the one thing he was supposed to.
You.
Molly nearly cut his head off when he appeared home empty-handed.
“I couldn’t get her to come back but I did get something even better,” he answered.
“What is it?” the twins asked simultaneously.
“I got a date with her instead!” he exclaimed. He threw his hands up in the air and high-fived the twins who were now grinning widely.
Molly simply shook her head and went back into the kitchen where she had dinner cooking. She could still hear the boy’s voices in the main area talking about anything and everything. She was really worried about you and hoped that the two of you could talk in person soon. She couldn’t go and visit you because if she did, there would be no house to come back home to so she has to resort to letters.
That night, Sirius dreamed of you. In his dream, you were married and had two children. The four of you lived in a secluded cottage in the woods where no one from the outside world would disturb your little fantasy. In his dream, you never married Remus. In his dream, the war never happened and James and Lily were still alive. In his dream, he was finally happy.
