Presence
Summary
There is something weird happening during the full moon.
Note
In chapter 10 of Consequences Remus transforms the first time with wolfsbane potion. Here is what Moony thinks of it. This was supposed to be just a short drabble, but I had too much fun writing it. I hope you enjoy.

There was something weird happening and Moony wasn't happy about it. He knew his pack was somewhere close, but he could feel a presence he wasn't used to having around. Somehow the presence was stopping him from running to his friends and that made him extremely frustrated. Moony wanted to get rid of it, but it was somehow inside of him. He never had enough time to play with his pack and now this strangeness was ruining it. Nothing he tried, got the presence to leave or made his body move. The presence seemed confused and it made Moony annoyed to no end.

Moony could hear his pack move closer and then his dog was whimpering. His eyes opened suddenly and his head moved a bit, but somehow the presence that was controlling his body, couldn't do it properly. He could smell his dog and his stag very close. His rat was missing, but Moony cared most of the dog. They had the most fun. He just wanted to play with his dog.

His dog barked and finally Moony could do something. It was only wag his tail, but at least his dog would know he was happy to see him. The presence was somehow upset, but couldn't stop the tail from moving. It felt like a small victory, but he still couldn't see his friends and the presence was distracting. At least it had stopped panicking.

To Moony's surprise, his body started to move a little and the idiot, who was moving it, clearly didn't have any idea what they were doing. He couldn't do anything to stop it, when his body stumbled and fell off the bed he was used to wake up in. It hurt and his pack was laughing at him. This stupid presence was ruining everything. He just wanted to say hello to his friends that he hadn't seen in forever. His body tried to get up from the floor, but stumbled again and his friends were laughing even louder. He hoped they knew something was wrong and it wasn't Moony making an idiot out of himself.

Suddenly Moony could feel something change. He wasn't trapped in his mind anymore, but felt like he could move. At the same time he could feel the presence more clearly and he recognised it as the man, who was controlling his body, when he only had two legs. He didn't like the man very much. He had made his dog and the dog's human form abandon them and now he was there to ruin the one night Moony had for himself. However, he could now move, so he rose to his legs and turned to his pack. He was afraid that the man would stop him, if he moved too quickly, so he walked slowly towards his friends. He halted in front of them. They had stopped laughing, but didn't look as excited to see him as they usually were.

Moony wanted them to be happy to see him, so he leaped in front of the dog and excitedly licked his snout to make sure he knew, Moony was glad to see him. He hadn't expected the man to intervene, but he took back the control of his body and rolled them away like an idiot, who couldn't even walk properly. His pack was laughing again. What bad had he done to deserve this idiot to be there.

His dog stopped laughing and walked towards him. Only part that Moony could still move, was his tail, so he wagged it enthusiastically to let his dog know, he was pleased. The dog didn't seem as glad, as he sat in front of him. He looked at them in a way Moony couldn't understand, but apparently the man could, since he moved his head. His dog and stag looked at each other in a way that usually proceeded them going outside. Moony couldn't wait. He didn't much like the insides, since there wasn't room to move around or play. He had been locked there alone, when his pack abandoned him and he had been so scared and frustrated. He could hardly see, hear or smell anything when he was alone in the small, dark place, he couldn't get out of.

His stag walked to the place that would let them out and Moony couldn't wait. He let his antlered friend go out first. It seemed that the man was hesitant to go outside, but at least his dog was still beside him. When he felt the human giving him control, he decided to be cautious. He didn't want to give it back immediately. He walked outside with the dog and stopped when his paws reached the lawn. The human seemed a bit confused and Moony gathered that he wasn't very smart and he would have to be patient.

Moony's pack was already running around, but the human was just frozen on the doorstep, like he had never been outside before. Moony wanted to join them, but no. The human refused to move. He used the human's lack of focus to whimper, so his friends would notice him being left out. Fortunately his dog saw his distress. Moony didn't understand immediately what he planned, when he stopped running and started to dig some flowers, but then he could feel the human get angry. Moony wanted to join his dog, but was happy to chase him away as long as he was allowed to move. The dog was so much smarter than the human.

Finally Moony could move his body as he wanted and chase his dog like he was used to. He could feel the human give up the control and enjoy the movement. He seemed to be more relaxed than once during the night, but Moony didn't want to pay much attention to him. He just wanted to play with his pack and that they did. His dog and his stag were finally running around with him as always.

When the moon reached the highest point, Moony stopped abruptly and threw his head back to howl to the moon that made him who he was. His pack joined him and made him feel, he would never be alone. His stag made rather odd noises - well, not as odd as the rat - but his dog singing to the moon, was the most beautiful sound Moony had ever heard.

Moony tried to tolerate the human presence that was now sharing his body, but it was very trying. The human started to try to take control of his body sometimes and to Moony's surprise, it wasn't all bad. Then the human intervened just as he was chasing the stag really fast and ran them straight into the bushes, making his pack laugh at them again. Moony wished he could somehow explain that it wasn't his fault at all. After that the human was more careful and didn't embarrass him again.

Moony could feel the moon reaching the horizon and he saw his pack getting tired, but he didn't want the night to be over. It wasn't fair, how little time he had with his friends and then he had so long to be trapped inside the man's body, not really existing, but still there. He wanted to spend all the time with his pack. He wished he could be a wolf whenever like his friends could, but he was cursed to be a human when the moon wasn't full.

Moony didn't want to follow his friends underground to the darkness, but he knew his night would end in the horrible pain as always and there was no use to resist. He gave one more glance towards the moon that was hiding behind the trees and walked down, hoping he didn't have to share the next moon with the man.
