Epilogue (II)
“And that, children, is how the great and noble house of Malfoy found its well-deserved peace and greatuncle Barabas’ ghost finally left for the afterworld and stopped haunting the peacocks. No thanks to a certain grandfather dog, mind you.” Lucius finished his good night story, smiling serenely at his three grandkids before shooting a murderous glare to Sirius.
Mentioned grandfather dog promptly detached himself from the wall he was leaning against. “Don’t listen to your gramps Lucy, kids. It most certainly is to your granddogs Sirius’ credit that your parents married for love and not for blackmail.” He grinned at Lucius, showing his sharp canines.
“That’s enough, boys. You only make the kids more excited with your fighting. They should sleep”, Narcissa admonished. She rolled her eyes in exasperation. Honestly, these two grown men never got over that argument. Even after 15 years.
Properly chastised, both men grumpily exited the bedroom. Narcissa kissed each of her grandchildren lovingly on the head before leaving, too. She gently shut the door and promptly heard the kids excited chatter. Well, no one could expect anything less from those three wildlings. They were just like their fathers.
Instead of reentering and demanding silence, Narcissa let them be. It wasn’t too often the kids had a sleepover at their grandparents’ house. But Draco and Harry finally decided to take a much-needed holiday, without the children. No doubt they would return with Draco being pregnant with grandchild number four. Those two were still as much in love as when they were engaged.
Smiling softly to herself, Narcissa made her way to the salon where the two grandfathers were still bickering. While she poured them both a firewhisky she thought that the Potter-obsession of the Malfoys truly was a wonderful tradition.
The End.
