Seongho had been close to his parents ever since he was little. Chaeyoung and Aeri had each other and Jaesun and Tahee had each other. That only left his parents for him to become close to. Of course, he was close to everyone in his family, but in particular it was his parents. Which is why it made this news so hard to hear.
He and his partner had been trying to have a child for months now and nothing was working. His papa, Min Sungjin was the best potioneer in Wizarding Britain and for some reason it wasn’t working. In order to find out what was going on and if there was a fix, the spare heir went to a fellow healer to figure out what was wrong.
The diagnosis took a while, but by the look on the healer’s face the news wasn’t good. “You’re a Min, correct?”, the healer asked to make sure that there wasn’t anything else about the results. Seongho nodded his head in reply with slight confusion on his face. What did him being a Min have to do with any of this? He couldn’t see any correlation. It wasn’t until the healer dropped this bombshell of news, did he understand.
“I apologize Seongho, but you’re unable to have children. Whatever curse your father has, has transferred down to you and this is the cause. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this curse and I doubt there will be.”
The brunette couldn’t believe his ears. Everything he and his husband had worked for went down the drain. He couldn’t have any children of his own. He wouldn’t get the chance to see them grow up like he had with his younger siblings. Everything he imagined and wanted fell apart with one simple spell. It sent him reeling and he was still having trouble processing this piece of information. He thanked the healer and apparated to the Min Manor.
He arrived in the main parlor where they greeted guests and saw them out. A soft pop alerted him to the arrival of his house elf. “Master Seongie has arrived. How may I help?” Teely asked, bowing to the boy she had helped raise. “I’m here to see my parents. Are they here?” He asked, his gaze soft at his personal house elf. He was always fond of Teely. “They’re in the Lord’s study. I’ll let them know you’re coming.”
The spare heir nodded his head and made his way to his father’s study. It was a place he frequented a lot in his youth. His drawings were still on the walls of Jiwoo’s study. He knocked as a courtesy before entering. “We weren’t expecting you, Seongho, but it’s always a pleasure to see you.” Jiwoo said with a soft smile on his face.
“Did you know?” the second eldest of five asked his parents. “Know what Seongie?” Sungjin asked concerned as to what was going on with his son.
“That the curse you placed on Papa affected us. I can’t have children, Father! And you know that’s all I wanted. I could’ve cared less about the curse because I know you wouldn’t have done that to Papa if it would hurt him. I’ve seen the two of you together more than the others have and it’s clear that the two of you think the world of each other. However, I will forever resent you for this damn curse because of this! Sure blood adoption and adopting are options, but I will never have the joy of having children like Papa did.” He had let it all out with his chest heaving. Seongho had always been the emotional one out of their children. He took after Sungjin more than he did Jiwoo. He was always a little softer than his siblings and that led to him being bullied even though his family still loved him.
A sharp gasp left Sungjin’s lips at the revelation. Jiwoo’s jaw tightened as his fist clenched in anger. He looked down at the cuff on Sungjin’s wrist in disdain before storming out of the room, taking the oppressive air of magic with him. Sungjin looked after Jiwoo with a concerned look on his face before turning to his son. “Your Dad didn’t know about that Seongho and if he did then he would have told you. All of you. He loves you guys with his whole heart even though he struggles to show it. He’ll speak to you later about this. For now, why don’t you go let your siblings know along with your husband.” Sungjin murmured, squeezing Seongho’s hand before leaving in the direction his husband went.
Seongho sighed and ran a hand through his hair, not sure what to make of this. He did know that his siblings should know what the curse did to them, but first he would have to let his husband know. He dreaded having that conversation. It would be more emotionally draining than the one he had with his parents. He headed back to the main parlor to apparate out, knowing that his Dad would talk to him later. It was best for his fathers’ to deal with this information by themselves. He would have to proceed with his partner about what their best course of action was, now that they knew what was wrong. He was partially leaning towards blood adoption, but he wasn’t sure if his husband was comfortable with that, being as he was an American wizard. He just knew that they still wanted children, no matter what.
