An awkward encounter

Severus Snape did not like most children, children like Harry Potter. Who strutted around the castle wanting to know everything about the world and not wanting to do the research himself. Hermione Granger had an extreme thirst for knowledge but was so judgemental about things she did not agree with. And don’t get him started on Ronald Weasley. The only children he’d ever managed to tolerate were Draco Malfoy and his daughter.

He loved his daughter to the very fibre of his bean, even though she was not born his child she will always be his. Her name was Cassiopeia Anastasia Black when he was first introduced to her. Daughter of Anastasia Prevelle, last in her family, and Sirius Black. The two had fallen pregnant during their fourth year summer and had the child midway through fifth. Ana was the primary caregiver to the young girl, living at her family manor with the young child and her parents and floo-ing to Hogwarts every day. She took to motherhood easily and though she was belittled for having a child out of wedlock she never let it get her down. Due to this arrangement sirius did not see his child often and when he was supposed to go and visit her during the weekends he’d often stay at hogwarts with his friends.

After they had all left Hogwarts Sirius seemed to finally want to make an effort with his daughter but struggled to connect to the headstrong young lady, and when her grandparents died that year he did not know how to comfort her, further severing their estranged relationship.

That was when Severus Snape entered the picture, and Sirius firmly left.

Sirius hadn’t known that his ex-girlfriend had started to see the dungeon bat. And was very annoyed when the woman turned down his engagement, he wanted to ‘make an honest woman out of her’ and receive a slap to the face. Sirius hadn’t returned after that.

Severus and Cassiopeia seemed like they were destined for eachother, he was always destined to be her father. He was the one to take her to the park, and her mother of course, he was the one to stay up late reading stories and taking care of her when she was ill. By the time she was six, Severus had been in her life for 3 years, and she could hardly remember her biological father. When the news broke that he was a mass murderer people sneered at her, calling her names. Saying she was destined to go down the same route as her father. So that was when her mother and her real father decided to protect her from these horrid sneers and Severus officially adopted the little black headed little girl. From that day on she was known as Cassiopeia Anastasia Prevelle-Prince.

When Sirius broke out of jail he hadn’t bothered to search for his daughter, he only cared about avenging James.

“I honestly don’t know why I am coming with you,” the gorgeous 21 year old woman complained to her lover. The woman was curvy by nature with long curly black hair and light violet eyes that she had received from her mother.

“I want to introduce you to my family, and besides your dad will be there,” the ginger haired man retorted to his girlfriend. The 26 year old man could not believe how lucky he was to have been dating this gorgeous woman this past year and wanted nothing more than to marry her. Which is why he’d asked her to ensure her father would be at grimmauld place before the year back at Hogwarts started back up and he would have to wait till christmas to ask.

The young girl had a scowl on her face, “If your family hates me i’ll cry.”

“They couldn’t hate you, you’re too amazing for that. And their opinion won’t change anything. I love you,``Bill smiled reassuringly to his girlfriend. He cast a quick tempus, “right, we should probably get going.” he shrugged on his coat and stepped towards the flu network, passing her the small piece of paper with ‘12 grimmuald place’ written haphazardly on the paper. She glanced at it before promptly burning it.

“Right let's go.”

The Weasley family, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and Severus Snape sat around the table in the dirty and dark kitchen of Grimmauld place. The air was thick as no one could understand why Snape was ‘interrupting a family event’ as they put it but he just rolled his eyes and took a seat, taking out a book and reading quietly as though he was waiting. The group tensed at the sound of the flu blaring to life, almost forgetting that bill would be bringing his girlfriend round to meet the family. Molly was not too happy to hear the news of this sudden relationship, which according to the twins had been going on for a year now, and from what she had decided whoever this woman was, she was not good enough for her son. “Mum,” Bill greeted gently as the first person to come through the flu, he hugged his mother tightly as she fretted over his weight and hair.

The flu fired once more and an elegant gorgeous aristocratic lady walked gracefully through. She bowed her head respectfully before giving Snape a tight hug, “hi dad.”

“Wait, Snape has a daughter?” Harry blurted out in surprise.

“Professor Snape, Harry,” his friend Hermione corrected on reflex though she was too surprised to learn that their professor had a child, a stunning child at that.

“You must be Mrs Weasley, it's a pleasure to meet you,” the woman smiled at Molly as though she wasn’t being stared at in surprise. Bill snorted quietly into his hand and placed a lazy arm around his girlfriend's waist.

“It’s lovely to meet you too, this is my husband Arthur, we have the twins, fred and george,” as she introduced the twins she did not gesture which was which as though she truly did not know herself and that caused Bill to tighten his grip on her waist in anger towards his mother. She never truly bothered with the twins and he could see her dislike toward Cassie. “Then we have Ronald and Ginevra, you’ve probably heard of Harry, and Sirius,” Bill could feel her tense at her bio fathers name but masked it expertly. “And last but not least Remus Lupin.”

“It's a pleasure to meet you all, thank you for inviting me,” she said tensely.

“Have we met before?” Remus Lupin asked politely as he looked upon the girl that looks vaguely like Sirius’ daughter. But it couldn’t be, could it?

Severus snorted under his breath, of course it was Remus to remember his daughter. After all he had spent more time with the little one than Sirius ever did. “I should think so, up until 3 i called you uncle moony.”

The room filled with confusion and nobody quite knew what to say. Sirius’ eyes filled with self pitying tears, “Cassie?” he asked quietly. “Where have you been? Are you okay? How is your mother?”

“Ive been in Egypt, not that you would have known, i’m good thanks to my dad. And my mums been dead for 5 years,” she deadpanned. Everyone looked curious as to why Sirius was asking the young girl such questions. Molly was worried they were in some sort of relationship.

“Ana’s dead? I am so sorry I didn't know,``Sirius said with a sad look on his face.

“How could you? You’ve been in Azkaban for 12 years.”

“How come you didn’t go to Remus? He's your godfather,” everyone bar BIll, Cassie, Remus and Snape were shocked at the revelation.

“Why would i stay with a stranger? I had my dad!” Cassie protested pointing at Snape.

This is where Sirius exploded, “HOW dare you?” he seethed, “I am your father. I don’t know what sniverlous has told you but i gave up so much for-”

“No you did not. You barely saw me, I don't even remember you Sirius! Severus blood adopted me at age 6 when you got sent down and everyone thought i would follow in your murderous foot steps. But he was my dad long before that, you abandoned me at age 3 Sirius! Because my mother turned you down! And when you broke out of azkaban you did not make any effort to contact me or even check up on me so don’t you dare call yourself my father!” in her fury she left through the flu network causing the group to sit in a stunned silence.

“Whilst i’m here Sev, do you reckon i could get your permission to court Cass?” Snape snorted in amusement and felt mild pride as he watched sirius black glare at the two. It had been a good day.
