Walk him like a dog
Everyone who had seen Remus and Sirius around the school knows Sirius got Remus wrapped around his finger. It was no secret, if you asked Remus he would be more than happy to tell you it’s true.
“I mean, what’s wrong with it? It’s not my fault if you can’t treat your girl right,” was the answer Remus once gave to a guy from Hufflepuff who had tried to mock Remus for the way he always seemed to do as Sirius asked him to.
There was not a moment where Remus wasn’t holding the door open for Sirius, or holding some of his books if Sirius was occupied doing something else. What really had proved it to the whole school was the night of Yule ball. It was well into the night when Sirius had been dancing along with many other students on the dance floor, meanwhile Remus was sitting at the side talking to whoever was sitting close to him.
Sirius excused himself from the dancefloor and made his way to the side to find Remus. Sirius approached him slowly, not wanting to interrupt whatever Remus and the other people around the table were talking about. But Remus noticed him right away and turned to him.
“Hello, gorgeous,” Remus said, settling his hands gently on Sirius’ hips. Sirius smiled sweetly and rested his own hands on Remus’ neck.
“My feet are hurting,” he said quietly. Remus looked down at his feet. Sirius looked absolutely breathtaking that night. He was wearing a black suit, with a black silk shirt underneath. He had left the first three buttons open showing his pale smooth skin along with the necklaces he had carefully picked to match his earrings. With shoes he had chosen black shiny boots which made him a bit more taller than he really was.
“I can only imagine with those heels and all the dancing,” Remus said and received a bout from Sirius.
“Moony,” Sirius whined, but Remus was already on it. He took his own platform Dr. Martens shoes off before gesturing to Sirius to raise his leg to his lap. He first carefully took the other boot off and held Sirius' hands as he put Remus’ shoe on before doing the same with the other. They were a bit too big for Sirius, but Remus made sure to tie them tight enough.
“Better?” Remus asked. Sirius bit his lip and nodded his head.
“Yeah, but now you don’t have shoes,” Sirius pointed out to Remus’ socket feet. He wouldn’t put Sirius shoes on, not wanting to ruin them by stretching them out. Remus just shook his head.
“Don’t worry about me,” he said and squeezed Sirius’ waist. “Now go and have fun”
Sirius grinned and leaned down to press a kiss to Remus’ lips who hummed to the kiss.
“Thank you, I love you,” Sirius said before turning and making his way back to the crowded dance floor.
“Love you, gorgeous,” Remus called after him, before putting the boots next to his chair and turning back to the other students he had been talking with before Sirius came up to him. They all were looking at him, others with a shocked impression, others, most of the girls, with an awe.
Remus looked at all of them and raised his eyebrows, “What?”
One of the guys, Oliver, shook his head, “Did you just give your shoes to him?”
Remus just struggled, not really knowing what’s the big deal. Sirius’ feet were hurting so he gave him his shoes. “Yeah”
“Why?” Oliver laughed and glanced at his friends. Remus furrowed his brows.
“His feet were hurting. What’s the big deal?” Remus asked, getting a bit defensive about it. Oliver pointed towards Remus’ feet.
“So you’re just going to be without shoes?”
Remus looked at his socks too. He could be without shoes, it wasn’t like he was about to go dance. And even if he did, it wouldn’t matter. He could wash them.
“Yeah, I don’t care,” Remus chuckled and reached for the boots next to his chair and brought them up. “I mean try dancing and walking with these for several hours and let’s see how you feel”
“But like,” another guy, Asher, started. “Why? He would have survived”
Remus rolled his eyes. He couldn’t tell if he was just stupid and didn’t get why it was such a big deal or were these guys just real douchebags.
“Because he’s my boyfriend and I love him and he deserves to be treated right,” Remus listed. One of the girls, Julia, nudged Oliver with her elbow.
“You know, maybe this just tells you that you should be making more effort,” she said suggestively. Oliver just rolled his eyes. Remus turned away from them to look at Sirius on the dance floor and smiled as he saw him dancing with Marlene.

But the first time Sirius heard anything about this gossip that went around Hogwarts was just the morning after Yule ball. Sirius had been sitting in the common room alone. Remus along with James and Peter were in class so Sirius had decided to try and be productive. He was in the middle of writing an essay when a girl from the year below sat next to him.
“So how do you do it?” Sirius startled. He hadn’t heard anyone sit next to him. He really tried to get his essay written, so he would be done with it. He had delayed it for weeks now.
“Do what?” Sirius asked and put down his quill. He didn’t remember the girl's name and felt a bit bad about it.
“You know,” she said and leaned closer. “Get Remus to do all those nice things to you”
Sirius narrowed his eyes on her. He didn’t understand what she was going after with the question.
“What do you mean?”
“Oh come on,” she smirked. “He’s always doing something for you, helping you out. Like last night when he carried your shoes all night while not wearing his own one’s, ‘cause you were wearing them”
Oh
Sirius had never thought of it that way. Remus has always been that way with him. Helping him around, maybe sometimes putting Sirius’ needs before his own one’s which Sirius did feel bad about from time to time. But he had thought it was just Remus being himself. He hadn’t realised it had anything to do with others. He hadn’t thought it was something Remus did to get attention from others. It had been going on since they started going out, which was ages ago.
“Um..,” Sirius said, now feeling extremely insecure. He had never thought he was being used to stroke Remus’ ego. It couldn’t be right? Remus wouldn’t do that… And now thinking about it, was Sirius just as bad as he? Was he taking advantage of Remus?
“So what do you give him as a reward? So that he agrees to do all that” the girl asked, her eyes wide. Sirius swallowed and glanced at the parchment in front of him.
“Nothing- … I mean, he’s just.. nice?” he stuttered and then quickly gathered his things. “I’m sorry, I have to go,” he rambled and made his way to the stairs.
“Oh, Sirius, I’m sorry I-,” the girl called after him, but Sirius didn’t hear the rest of it as he closed their dorm's door.
-
Sirius was sitting on his bed as the room's door opened. Remus stepped in and his eyes immediately went to Sirius.
“Oh I thought you’d be here. Should we go-”
“Are you taking advantage of me?” Sirius asked, interrupting Remus’ question. Remus’ eyes widened and he stared at Sirius. Then he closed the door and walked closer. Sirius turned his head away from. He was upset and he really hoped he was wrong about this.
“What?” Remus breathed and came to stand in front of Sirius. “Taking advantage of you- how.. I- Why would I do that?”
Sirius blinked his eyes. He had promised himself he wouldn’t cry.
“Did you… Did you always act to be so nice and do nice things so that other people would notice it?” Sirius whispered. He didn’t trust his voice to not shudder if he talked any louder. He didn’t want to meet Remus’ eyes, keeping his eyes strictly on the floor. Remus didn’t say anything, but then Sirius saw how Remus sat down on the floor in front of him and took a hold of his hands. Sirius let him.
“Sirius, sweetheart, why would I ever do that?” Remus asked quietly and ducked his head down so he could see Sirius’ face. And that totally broke Sirius as he let out a sob. And then another as his shoulders started to shake. Remus let out a breath and pulled him to the floor too to sit completely on top of him. Remus’ arms wrapped around his shoulder, his other hand coming to rest at the back of Sirius’ head. He let Sirius cry and just ran his hand through his hair. Sirius clutched to Remus with all he had, squeezing his arms around Remus’ waist.
“I-,” Sirius tried to say, but the rest of the words got stuck in his throat. He didn’t really know why he was crying. A part of him had been so scared it would have been true, but just those words made him believe Remus. He would trust Remus with his life.
“I was so scared,” he whispered as he could finally swallow the lumb down in his throat.
“I would never use you or take advantage of you in any way,” Remus whispered back. His voice was filled with emotions too as he buried his nose in Sirius' hair, before pulling back to look at him. “What made you think that?”
Sirius looked at him as Remus wiped the drying tears away from his cheeks.
“This girl came up to me earlier,” Sirius started explaining. “Asked me what I do or give to you in reward and.. I didn’t understand what he meant”
Remus looked mad as his jaw tightened and he looked over Sirius’ head to somewhere in the room.
“Then she explained how you are so nice to me and just kept asking and asking what I do to get you to do all the things you.. do”
Remus just shook his head and finally looked at him. “I’m sorry. I should have told you about that”
“That?” Sirius asked carefully.
Remus sighed, “People are weird. Some time ago other student started asking why I was being, as you said, fucking nice to you. Which I didn’t understand, because why wouldn’t I be nice to you”
Sirius nodded his head slowly.
“Then last night, after I gave you my shoes, Oliver and Asher started questioning why I did it. I was about to go mad and just said that it’s simply because I love you and you deserve it”
“You love me?” Sirius asked, before he could think how stupid he sounded. Remus raised his eyebrows at him, a small smile playing on his lips as he raised his hand to Sirius’ forehead.
“Are you okay? Are you sure you’re not sick? You do feel a bit warm,” Remus joked and got Sirius to smile. “Of course I bloody love you, I’d be mad if I didn’t”
“I know, I’m sorry,” Sirius sighed and burrowed his face into Remus' neck.
“You do deserve it you know right? And I don’t care what other people think, call me whipped if you want. I won’t even deny it,” Remus said and pressed a kiss to Sirius’ head.
“Thank you,” Sirius mumbled and raised his head. “I really do appreciate everything you do, I just feel like I don’t say it enough”
Remus just shook his head with a smile, “I feel like I do it as much for myself as to you, to be honest. It makes me happy to see you happy, that’s all”
Sirius grinned and pressed a kiss to Remus’ lips that, honestly, was more of their teeth knocking to each other than their lips.
“Are you telling me I got my finger wrapped around you?” Sirius teased between kisses. Remus breathed out.
“Oh yeah, leash and all”
