Jealous?
“This is so bloody fucking exhausting! I fucking hate this Remus!”
Remus ahead of Sirius stopped and turned around.
“First of all stop cussing, people can hear you. Second you wanted to do it this way, so stop whining and carry the box”
Then he turned around and continued walking up the stairs to their new apartment.
Their apartment
First it was just something they have joked about. What if we moved in together? How funny would that be, they thought in fourth grade. One thing led to another and then it wasn’t two best friends joking about moving to a shared apartment. It was two young men, deeply in love with each other joking about how they would move to this small apartment in London, act like the married bickering couple.
Until one night at the dorm. Peter and James were already sleeping, as well as the two of them. In each other's arms, Sirius’ head resting on the crook of Remus’ neck when he had suddenly perked up.
“Moony”
“Mhmm”
“We should move in together, like for real. No joking”, he had said seriously, like he always claimed to be. First Remus didn’t say anything, he just stared up to the ceiling. Sirius had even got scared for a bit, about to take it all back. Say he didn’t really mean it, when a hand ran through his hair. Then Remus’ lips pressed to his forehead.
“Of course. I would love to, but I would really like to sleep now too sweetheart”
Warmness had spread through Sirius as he had pressed himself closer to Remus and closed his eyes, a smile on his lips.
Right now Sirius was for sure happy, but also tired and annoyed with his boyfriend who clearly didn’t mind carrying the heavy boxes all the way up to the sixth floor.
“You know if you didn’t have so many books we wouldn’t have to walk up and down so many times”, Sirius muttered under his breath. He didn’t think Remus would hear him, but he clearly did. Assumed by the way the other boy again turned around, this time slowly, and pointed his finger at him. Sirius tried to smile as innocently as he could, so maybe Remus wouldn’t be so pissed off.
“You know if I were you I would just carry the boxes without complaining. Or do you want to test how nice it is to sleep on that couch?”
The smile quickly vanished from his face and Sirius quickly walked past Remus, to their apartment door that they have left open.
“Merlin, I was just joking”
“I wasn’t”
Sirius couldn’t blame Remus for being uptight, all the moving had been really stressful and on top of that, lately Remus had stressed about every little thing he could think of.
And yeah maybe he had been a bit of a pain in the ass, but if he didn’t complain, who would?
He would make it up to Remus soon.
“Okay only one box left and then we are done here”, Remus stated and looked around in the apartment.
It wasn’t anything too fancy or big. They didn’t want anything too special or expensive. Remus already felt bad for Sirius paying a bigger half of the rent than he did. The apartment had one bedroom, a small kitchen and an area they would use as a living room. Fill it up with books, photos and things that would eventually make it feel like home.
“I will get it!” Sirius announced, mostly because he felt bad for earlier. He was about to walk out when Remus took a hold of his wrist and pulled him closer.
“Thank you”, he said and kissed the corner of Sirius' mouth before slapping his ass and pushed him towards the door. “Now go”
Chuckling Sirius walked down the stairs and lifted the last box up from the ground and looked at the building. He really liked the way it looked from the outside. It wasn’t anything too monumental or fancy, the polar opposite to be honest. But he liked it because it was so different from his childhood home so when thinking about his new home, memories from Grimmauld place didn’t fill his mind.
“Hey”, Sirius startled the sudden voice that came behind him.
“Oh sorry I didn’t mean to scare you”, a girl about his age walked closer to him. She had long blond hair that reminded Sirius of Marlene and light blue eyes. She was rather pretty and maybe if Sirius didn’t swing the other way or if his literal boyfriends weren't waiting for him upstairs he would have been interested in her.
“No worries”, he simply answered and tried to open the door while carrying the box, but the girl ended up opening it for the both of them. Sirius thanked him quietly.
“Are you new here?” The girl kept talking and followed Sirius inside and started walking beside him up the stairs.
“Yeah, just moved in to the sixth floor”, he doesn’t know why he told her that, but he didn’t want to come off as rude. And maybe knowing someone from their building would be a good thing for the future.
“Oh really! Mine’s on the seventh floor” the girls said and sounded right away more excited. “Oh, how rude of me to not introduce myself, I’m Julie”
“I’m Sirius”
Julie looked at him confused. “Oh okay I mean like yeah I was too..”
He, maybe a little bit rudely, interrupted her rampling. “No, I mean my name is Sirius, you know like the”, he sighed, “like the star”
“Oh yeah Sirius, yeah my bad!” Julie said and laughed on top of it, trying to make it less awkward for the both of them. Sirius didn’t think she succeeded in it.
“So did you move in alone?”
As Sirius was about to answer the question when his lovely boyfriend in his light brown corduroy pants that looked worn, and a big loose dark green sweater on, walked down the stairs. Sirius didn’t know if it was possible to forget what another person looked like in under ten minutes, but if it was, it had just happened to him.
Because merlin
Remus’ long frame looked extremely good in front of him. His hair was maybe a little bit longer than it usually was, wavy and just below his ears curly from the ends, but Sirius didn’t mind it. His eyes were dark in the bad lightning of the hallway, but they were still pretty. He couldn’t see the light freckles that covered Remus’ nose and cheekbones, but he knew they were there.
“There you are, I was starting to think you have somehow got lost- oh hello”, Remus said when he realised Julie next to Sirius.
“Um Julie this is my.. best friend who I moved in with”, Sirius told her. They have agreed to introduce each other as friends to new people. It was easier for them and also safer, because they couldn’t tell how each person would react. And muggles tend to not be as okay with people like them, as most of the wizards and witches.
“Pleasure to meet you, I’m Remus”, Remus said and offered his hand for her to shake with a smile.
“You too”, Julie shook his hand. “It’s nice that younger people are moving here too. And them being this attractive is nice too”
Remus and Sirius both exchanged glances before looking back at Julie, whose eyes were on Sirius.
Remus furrowed his brows.
He didn’t like the way she was looking at him, it looked like she was undressing him with her eyes. Remus would have liked to take a hold of Sirius' hand and drag him inside their apartment, but he couldn’t. He couldn’t because to Julie he was just his best friend, nothing else.
Sirius tried to laugh, but it didn’t come out as anything else than an exhale. “Oh well thank you”
“No but seriously, would you maybe like to go out with me sometime”, Sirius tried not to make a face by Julie’s words. She was trying to be funny, but failed badly.
The situation was way too awkward to Remus, so he decided to take the box from Sirius and leave the two of them alone.
“Well I’m going to go now, but it was nice to meet you Julie”, he said and turned around, but not before looking at Sirius who flashed panicked eyes at him.
“You too Remus!” she said before Remus could close the door behind him. Then she turned to look at Sirius, a flirtatious smile on her lips.
“So where were we? Would you like to have my number? If you have phone in your apartment of course”
Sirius didn’t want to hurt her feelings, but more than that he didn’t want to hurt Remus’ feelings so without even thinking about it, he answered to her.
“Look Julie you seem like a nice girl, but I’m actually seeing someone at the moment and it’s very serious so. And we don’t have a phone, sorry”, he saw how her smile fell from her lips, but just for a second before she forced a smile to hide her disappointment.
“Oh right, no it’s okay. I mean of course someone as good looking as you is dating someone”, she said. “She’s a lucky girl”
“Not necessarily a girl, but I feel like I’m the lucky one”, Sirius spontaneously said. Julie didn’t seem like someone who would judge them, so he was brave enough to let it slip. Maybe that way she wouldn’t try to flirt with him every time they see each other in the hallway.
He heard her let out a little ‘oh’ before he went to open the door of their apartment.
“I’ll see you around Julie”, he said and smiled.
Inside the apartment Remus was already unboxing the many boxes that were laid in the middle of the room. Sirius couldn’t see his face so it wasn’t clear if he was pissed at him or not. But he really hoped he wasn’t.
“Hey, could you help me and take this box to the bedroom?” Remus asked after hearing Sirius close the door. He didn’t turn around to look at him, but was rather busy taking books and other random stuff out of one of the boxes.
“Sure thing”, he looked around at the boxes. “Um, which one of them?”
Now Remus turned around and looked at the boxes too. “The one that literally says clothes and things to the bedroom”
Sirius smiled sheepishly and picked up the box.
“Thank you Siri”
He sat down on the floor and started unpacking the clothes from the box. He doesn’t know where to put them so he just makes a couple of piles for his and Remus’ clothes.
“So how was Julie?” says a voice behind his back. Sirius turns around to find Remus leaning to the door frame, arms crossed to his chest.
“Do you really wanna know?” Sirius quietly asks and folds Remus’ sweater on top of the pile as well as he can.
“Of course I do. It’s important to know if I will have to fight for you now on”, he sits on the floor with Sirius and takes the sweater out of his hands. “Okay let me do that”
Sirius looked at Remus first without saying anything. He looked at how his long fingers folded the pieces of clothing way more skillfully than he had done it. “You don’t have to fight for me, Moony. I’m all yours and you know it”
“Yes I know, just wanted to hear you say it”, Remus said calmly and smiled at Sirius.
Sirius' lips curled up and he got closer to Remus.
“Were you jealous”, he teased
Remus smiled too and a light blush spread on his cheeks. “No, why would I be?”
“Oh you so were! Bloody hell Remus that’s hilarious!” he exclaimed and snickered quietly, an evil grin on his face.
“Okay fine maybe I was! But I had a good reason for it”, Remus said and got up from the floor.
“Don’t run away Remus, you can’t run away from this!” Sirius followed him to the kitchen where Remus was emptying one of the boxes already.
“Babe that’s like so funny! I didn’t know you were capable of even being jealous” Sirius stated and walked closer to Remus, wrapping his hands around Remus waist from behind.
“Why wouldn’t I be?” he looked over his shoulder to Sirius. “If someone is flirting with my boyfriend in front of me I will get jealous”
“It’s not fair I can’t show you off the same way straight people can”, Remus added quieter.
Sirius felt sadness wash over him and he tightened his grip around Remus’ waist. “I know love, I know”, he turned Remus around in his arms and moved his hands to the back of his neck. “But you know even if we can’t walk hand in hand on the street doesn’t mean I love you any less. Or that I would give a shit if our neighbour tries to flirt with me”
“Oh yeah? You’re not interested?” Remus teased and rested his hands in turn to Sirius' waist. Sirius smirked and got closer, almost pressing their chests together.
“Not in the slightest. I almost forgot she was even standing next to me when you came to the hallway. You looked so fucking hot”
“Mhmm”, Remus just said and pressed their lips together. Sirius kissed him back hungrily and pulled on the hairs on Remus neck while Remus’ hands slipped under his shirt, on his bare sides.
But then Remus backed off and moved away from Sirius. He started to look around the empty kitchen cabinets.
“We should go and buy ourselves plates and other stuff”, he stated aloud and turned his head to Sirius. “Could you please go and put the clothes you took from the box back in to it. I don’t even know why you took them out in the first place”
Sirius' mouth opened and he shot an annoyed look at Remus. “You wanker! You didn’t say anything about it”
“Yeah I assumed you would have just set the box down. But I really appreciate it sweetheart”
Sirius stomped out of the kitchen and yelled on his way,
“You’re going to drive me mad Remus you know that?”
“Love you too Pads”
