Ghost Hour at Hogwarts

After the initial shock of having your life turned upside down Danny grew agitated and started to pace through the living room. A nervous habit of his, having as many enemies as he did, it had saved his human half several times. He never knew when Skulker or another ghost would show up and attack him.

Danny tried to calm his nerves, he knew that after everything he just learned he needed to see his twin. Talk to him, get to know him better but he couldn't leave Amity Park. Maybe Harry could come and visit him here? He would ask about that, yeah, that sounded like a plan.

While he was caught up in his own thoughts he almost missed Jazz speaking up, he turned around in time to listen to their conversation "Why did you come now, after all these years? Mr Dumbledore, you said earlier that you only today learned of Danny's status, namely that he is still sound and about. Could you elaborate further please?"

Danny resisted the urge to roll his eyes at his sister's antiques but listened closely. He was quite curious as well. The headmaster nodded shortly and reached into his cloak. He then held up a letter and gave it to Jazz, their parents and Danny leaned in to read the content of the letter. It read:

10/31/1998
Dear Sirius, Dear Remus,

If you read this letter it means that Voldemort has found and killed us. I hope that you are safe and alive if not then whoever is reading this I hope you have come here with a good minded heart and are a friend of ours (if not this letter would be ashes now).

I am writing this letter because James and I are afraid that we might be found and are scared for our dear sons, Harry and Danny. Therefore we decided to keep them safe and bring them to people far away from wizarding Britain so that they may not be found. I know it goes against what we decided on and if worst comes to worst I know how to keep them both alive but I'd rather know them being safe for sure. Today we brought Daniel to an old friend of mine, Madeleine Fenton, she lives with her husband and daughter in Amity Park, Illinois and she promised to take care of my boy. We plan on bringing him back soon but if anything should happen I ask of you to explain the situation to Maddie and then she shall decide if she would like to raise Danny as her own or let him grow up with you. Since it already took the majority of the time today to convince Maddie to take in Danny, James and I are going to bring Harry to my other friend Yukiko Amaya, who lives in Shinjuku, Tokyo in Japan tomorrow morning. I wanted to bring both to Maddie but two more children would probably be too much for them, especially when they are as mischievous as my boys.
I love them both with all my heart and I hope that I can destroy this letter soon. Until then, both Danny and Harry will be fine and that is all that matters to us.

Danny couldn't breathe, until now it seemed like this was all just a dream, a wild fantasy that would end as soon as the wizards left but now, now he had proof. He was the son of a wizard and a witch and he was only alive because they felt like they had to protect them but why? Why was this Voldemort guy after them? Just because they were part of the resistance or was there more to it? There were so many questions and he wasn't sure if he even wanted an answer to them.

The boy looked around, his mom had tears in her eyes but a small smile graced her lips, his dad was hugging both Jazz and his mom and the wizards were really quiet. Mister Snape had a look of melancholy on his face that Danny didn't quite understand and Dumbledore's face betrayed no emotion.

Danny wondered what would happen now when the older wizard spoke up "I found the letter in the children's room of the Potter home today and immediately felt the urge to check on this new information." He looked at the halfa " I needed to know if you really are Daniel Fleamont Potter and you are. You like a lot like Harry, except for your eyes. Harry unfortunately or fortunately was not brought to Miss Amaya, the Potters were attacked the very night Lily wrote the letter and he was then brought to living family members. I understand that it's a lot to take in but I would appreciate it if you would listen to my proposal and give it some thought."

Danny tensed up, here it goes, he would finally learn what the old man really wanted. Dumbledore breathed in and said "Would you like to go to Hogwarts and meet Harry and his friends and receive the kind of magical education that could help you to control your own magic?" The half ghost stared, he had expected this kind of offer of course but it was still weird to actually hear it. Danny knew of course that he had to decline. He could leave for a week at most but then his obsession would kick in and he would need to go back to Amity Park.

He locked eyes with his family and he knew that they knew, he smiled at Dumbledore and said sadly "Thank you but I think I have to decline, not because I don't want to go but because I can't. Can't Harry come and visit me here? I mean, wouldn't he be safe here anyways? After all, you didn't even know that I was living here were it not for the letter, right?"

Dumbledore seemed surprised but answered anyways "Unfortunately no, because of certain circumstances he needs to stay where he is right now. Voldemort has come back at the end of last school year and Harry was unfortunate enough to have witnessed his resurrection. Right now he is the safest where he is. At your aunt's in London and the reason we didn't know of your status was because of Amity Parks unusual high concentration of ectoplasm.

"Ectoplasm confuses our magic and that is the reason that the wizarding community isn't able to find any new witch or wizard in this area, that explains why you never got your Hogwarts or Ilvermorny letter... Ilvermorny is the American wizarding school.
You do not have to come and study in Hogwarts, you really don't, your environment gives you some kind of clearance for that. Any kind of accidental magic would be referred to as a ghost acting up. However I ask of you once more to think about my offer. It would be better for you to learn how to control your magic, as we saw earlier, you seem to be quiet powerful. Harry doesn't know about you and he never will if you decide to stay here but let me just say that after everything he's been through he might need someone whom he can definitely trust."

That was a lot to take in, in all honesty, but Danny just couldn't leave. He sighed, if it weren't for his obsession he would probably go to this Hogwarts immediately. He was about to decline for a second time when Maddie put her hand on his shoulder "Danny, your father and I have thought about your... problem before and we've come up with a solution after experimenting. Don't worry, sweetums, nothing too horrible but we came up with a pill that contains," she looked at the wizards and started anew "it helps with your condition so you should be able to go and stay at Hogwarts."

While Maddie told him about this Jack went into the basement and came back with a pack of green tablets. He gave them to Danny who looked at them curiously. He could feel his ghost core reacting to the medicine and calming down. It was a weird feeling but he immediately knew that it would work, that by taking one of the capsules he would be at ease and could somewhat suppress his obsession. He looked up at his parents who nodded happily "We wanted you to be able to travel around for longer than just a week in case you wanted to move someday or take Sam somewhere. Take one per week and you should be fine, there are no side effects as far as we know." Maddie sighed and added "I know that today was a lot but please know that we will support you in your decision. You may go and meet your brother, you could both come and visit us during the holidays and we promise that we will take care of everything here, okay? Take your time."

The boy didn't know what to say, he always thought that due to his obsession he wouldn't be able to move away since his core was bound to Amity Park and the GZ but now he could not only stay away for longer than just a couple days but also had the back of his parents and the knowledge that his city would be safe. Tears threatened to fall down his face and he hugged his parents in a rare moment of affection. It was great. His parents, ghost hunters, went through so much trouble to help him. He was touched.

He looked at Jazz and saw her smile at him and knew that she would support him just as much. Danny wiped his eyes with his arm and sniffed, he then took a deep breath and turned to the wizards "I guess that I can come with you. Do you mind to wait a bit though? I still have to talk to a few friends of mine and tell them that I'll be gone for a few months."

Dumbledore nodded his understanding and Snape said "You may tell your friends goodbye however you mustn't tell them anything about the wizarding community, else you would be breaking the law."
Danny grinned and nodded but didn't promise, of course he would tell Sam and Tucker about Hogwarts and he was sure that his ghost friends wouldn't even be surprised to hear about wizards and the like.

Suddenly the headmaster spoke up "We will return in two days and take you to the Orders headquarters where you will be safe and have enough time to catch up on the past four school years."
Hearing that Danny paled considerably, of course he'd have to study if he didn't want to join first graders but he only had about one and a half months to catch up... Well he could do it, he was sure of it. Determination crossed his face and he nodded courtly. Two days to pack and talk to friends and enemies alike.

After that they led the wizards to the entrance door and bid them goodbye. They used the rest of the evening to calm down and have some family bonding and for once did nobody mention any kind of ghost weapon or invention.

When Danny woke up the next morning he immediately got dressed and decided to go to the Ghost Zone first before he talked to his girlfriend and their best friend. Standing in front of the portal he changed into his Phantom persona and entered the zone.

As he was flying through the zone he inhaled the air around him and savored every second, who knew when he'd be able to come here again? He didn't see any ghosts but that didn't mean anything, they were acting awfully quiet anyways and it didn't bother him much. Finally he arrived at Dora's kingdom and the guards let him enter without a second thought. He was after all a personal friend of their queen and now a knight.

Danny thought back to when he received the title of knight. It was three weeks after they saved Dora and her kingdom and she had invited him over 'to celebrate' as she said, however she surprised him with honouring him with a title and he was so flustered he couldn't decline. After the ceremony Dora apologized and explained that she knew that he would have never accepted a thank you gift like this if he had known, so she surprised him. Of course he forgave her but the title was stuck. He was now Sir Phantom throughout the Ghost Zone, even though he was technically only knighted in Dora's domain.

Apparently most ghosts thought that the title suited him well especially after Pariah Dark's defeat, didn't mean that they respected him now.
Phantom smiled when he entered the throne room and saw Dora talking to her guards smiling, though it seemed a little strained. The stress of managing and leading a whole country must be hard on her, he thought.

When she noticed him her face lit up and he bowed slightly to show his respect. She dismissed the guards and walked towards him "Sir Phantom! What a pleasant surprise! Are you hungry? If you would like something to eat then just name it and you shall have it." Danny smiled even more "Thank you Princess Dora, I am only here for a short time and I hope I'm not interrupting something important."

Dora shook her head and motioned Danny to follow her. As they walked through the halls of the castle Danny noticed how much the capitol has evolved already and was pleasantly surprised to see happy faces on the ghosts who worked or just did what they wanted to do. If he had to point out in which time the kingdom was now it would be somewhere during the renaissance. Everywhere he looked he saw art and sculptures and fountains and marble, it was a beautiful sight. The streets were clean as well and the forest behind the city seemed to radiate a slight glow and didn't look as eerie as the last time he was here for a visit.

Suddenly Dora began to talk "You know, since we entered the swirl of time again we have progressed real nicely and I am happy with the results. But enough about me, what brought you here today?"
Danny swallowed and answered "I just wanted to tell you that I am apparently a wizard and I will be going to a wizarding school in the human world, so I won't be able to visit you for a while. I guess I just came to wish you goodbye." He rubbed the neck of his head nervously and awaited her reaction anxiously.

"Wizards? Oh I know of them, they are funny! They haven't progressed much and that says something. I think they are further behind than we were up until a few months ago. So you are one of them? That's interesting, I wish you a lot of fun."
"Thanks, I'll keep that in mind, how do you know about them though?"
Dora touched her chin in thought "Brother and I went and attended a few balls there, in their homes, they have their own kind of ghosts, did you know. They are always intangible and can do no harm, so you mustn't fear them. Some of them are able to touch objects and are referred to as 'poltergeists' but they are harmless, too."

Danny was surprised, he thought he knew of all kind of ghosts but apparently he was wrong "How are they so different from us?"
The princess smiled "We are made of ectoplasm and human emotions, which is why sometimes humans with big emotions become ghosts, like you. However wizards who have used a lot of magic already and know of it cannot manifest with ectoplasm. They only consist of their emotions and they lose all their magic with death. You are a special case, Sir Phantom. You died but it was before your magic was discovered or used and it probably acted up while you had the accident, keeping you alive. Have you held a wand yet?"

The halfa nodded in thought.
"What was it like?"
Danny thought back to the day before, it was as though his core melted and connected with his soul, becoming stronger and more focused in seconds "It was amazing, it felt as though two puzzle pieces connected and I just knew I was more powerful in that moment than ever before." Dora grinned "Of course, your magic feeds off your ectosignature and your core feeds off your magic, if called upon either the two parts of you support each other. You are a very strong halfa and you only had your powers for a bit over a year."

"But Plasmius is way stronger than I. So is he a wizard as well?" The mere thought frightened Danny and he hoped that that was not the case but his friend only chuckled "No, Plasmius is without a question very powerful but he had more than two decades to train, if what you told me is the truth, so he is a human ghost without magic. I bet that you will be much stronger as time goes by and soon you will be even more powerful than the other halfa."

Danny could only stare, that was why he was so powerful? Because he had magic and this magic somehow connected with the ectoplasm that shot through him while he was electrocuted? And now his magic and his ghost core are forever intertwined, separated and yet still one? He guessed that was cool.

"How do you know all this?" he asked the ghost next to him, she just shrugged "I was very interested in the topic of magical ghosts and studied a lot in my free time. I also went to the Farfrozen and we had a lot of interesting conversations. Chief Frostbite once said that he wouldn't be surprised if you had magic in you, that's how we came to he conclusion I just told you about."

"You talked to Frostbite?"
"Hahaha, of course, I am a leader and he is a leader, we do have to talk about political and economical relations from time to time. We do have some sort of functioning government here."
Danny held his hands up "Sorry, I forgot, of course you'd talk to ghosts outside your domain... Thank you for telling me all this, I'm sure it'll be really useful for me. I actually planned on seeing Frostbite too before I leave. I'll have to thank him as well."
"Yes you do."

Dora bowed to Danny and Danny followed suit "I wish you a great year and be careful, my hero, if you ever need my help don't hesitate to call me. Oh, that reminds me."
Suddenly she took a ring out of her cloak. It was about two centimetres thick and was a dark green with a black line closing around the middle of the ring. He took it in wonder and put it on, immediately he felt his core thumb and he rubbed his chest. It felt as though the ring was providing him with energy. He looked at his friend questioningly and she answered "It is an heirloom, sometimes ghosts need to go to the human world and are cut off from ectoplasm for longer than good for us and rings such like this one keep us 'alive' and energized. I know you don't need it as much as I would but it also boosts your power, so please accept it. I wish for you to have and keep it."

The white haired ghost couldn't help it, he lovingly touched the ring and bowed once more before hugging the surprised princess. She usually wasn't the type who liked physical touches but after a second of hesitation she hugged him back and bade him farewell once more.

Danny turned around and flew towards the Farfrozen, hoping that their meeting would be as swift as it had been with Princess Dora.
