A random Remus/Severus moment because I feel like we haven't had one in forever
"What does Severus mean?"
"Huh?" Severus looked up st his boyfriend from behind his copy of 'A Christmas Carol'.
"Your name, 'Severus'. What does it mean?" Remus, basically, repeated.
"Oh, it's Latin for stern. But, I mostly just chose it because it sounds like 'severe'."
"Why would you want to name yourself severe?"
Severus giggled a little, trying, and failing, to hide it. "It's just my last name...."
"Snape? What about it? What does it mean?"
"Well," Severus wrung his hands, still smiling "it depends on what language you use."
Remus just raised an eyebrow in response.
"In Old English is means rebuke, in Old Norman, I believe, it means dweller by the pasture, and then there's the Old Norse meaning...."
"I'm guessing you went with Norse?" Remus went on after receiving a nod. "And that means?"
"Outrage, dishonor, or disgrace."
"You named yourself 'Severe Disgrace'?"
Severus couldn't stop the loud laughs stemming from himself after Remus's statement. "Technically, I named myself 'Stern Rebuke'."
"That's not any better, especially since when know what you meant by it."
Severus didn't stop laughing. "Oh, shut it, Wolf McWolf."
"I didn't choose that!"
"Wolf John Wolf." Was Severus's only response.
"I hate you."
"Talk to me when the only not-ironic part of your name doesn't have 'god' in it."
"John has 'god' in it?"
"All biblical names have god in there somewhere. John means 'God is Gracious' I think." Severus informed.
"And what's your middle name?"
"Tobias."
"So, you named yourself after your abusive father?"
"No, I named myself after that pig from the 'Puss In Boots' cartoon."
"I have no idea what you're talking about....What does Tobias mean?"
"That's not important."
"Severus?" Remus pressed.
"It means 'God is good'." Severus mumbled, but Remus still heard.
"And what were you saying about my name?"
"That it's still much lamer than mine?"
Remus sighed. "I hate you."
