Chapter 10, but in a different flavor

Severus was...surprised when he saw his boyfriend at the train station.

It was September 1st, 1976. Today was their first day of their sixth year, even though most of it was just a train ride; then dinner.

Remus's hair was still pink, unsurprisingly, and was pulled into two small pigtails, surprisingly. But, that wasn't the worst of it. Well, worst of it was a bad way to put it. It wasn't a bad thing. There wasn't a 'worst of it' or 'best of it'. This was neutral. So, the most surprising part of it, was his clothes. Remus had on a what looked like pink knee-length overalls, except they ended in a skirt. Under the overall dress was a white tee-shirt and white tights. Severus thought tights were supposed to be your skin color, though he was pretty sure the tights where more an aesthetic choice then anything. As for shoes, the 6'0 tall boy was wearing dark blue maryjanes. This was certainly not what Severus was expecting his boyfriend to be wearing, well, ever.

Severus knew that Remus had worn more feminine clothes in the past, he had seen so over summer break, but he didn't think Remus would choice to. He thought that it only ever happened when Talin got the urge. That could still be true, but now seemed less likely.

Severus hesitantly walked over to the other sixteen year old. "Um, Rem?"

"Oh, hi, Seva!" Remus smiled at the shorter boy.

"Hi. Um, what's with the outfit?"

"What, why? Do you dislike it?"

"What? No, of course not! I just...I didn't think you liked dresses and stuff." Severus was quick to assure, he would hate to accidentally make his boyfriend insecure about something as stupid as cloth.

"Oh. Yeah, no. I love them."

"I thought you only wore them when Talin made you."

"Oh, yeah. I forgot about you knowing about that. No, I like to wear them outside of those events sometimes."

"Then why haven't I seen you in one before? Sorry, that sounded accusatory. I didn't mean it like that, I'm just curious."

"No, I get it. I've just been...nervous to I guess. It's easier to do stuff like wearing a dress in public now that I'm dating you. I've always been scared of losing friends or ruining my reputation or something. But, dating you has already kinda pushed me past that point. Because you're a boy and a slytherin I mean; not you in particular." Remus looked genuinely terrified at the end, he knew Severus's insecurities and didn't want to make it seem like he though dating Severus made him look bad.

"Rem, breathe. It's okay. I know what you meant."

"Oh, good....It's also easier to do now that I'm dating you because I know that even if I were to be abandoned by my friends, I would still have you. Which is more than enough."

Severus couldn't stop himself from smiling. "I love you." He declared.

"I love you to. In fact, do you want to sit with me on the train?"

"Don't you have to be in the prefect compartment?"

"Nope. Just the head girl, head boy, fifth year prefects, and seventh year prefects have to be. Not Sixth." Remus explained.

"Oh. Then what about your friends?"

"I'd rather sit with you."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. Why? Do you not want to sit with me?"

"No, I do! I just don't want you to feel like you have to sit with me."

"I don't feel like I have to sit with you. I want to sit with you."

"You're sure?"

"100%"

"Okay, then. I would love to sit with you." Severus finally conceded.

Neither one knew what others reactions to them sitting together would be. But, did it matter? They didn't think so.
