Chapter 6
Lorcan smiled in his sleep, after a large dinner filled with pizza, pot stickers, and sadly kale (much to the horror of both Kara and Lorcan, and the amusement of Lena), Lorcan had been shown to the guest room of his mom's penthouse so that he could sleep for the night.
Meanwhile both Kara and Lena sat in the living room, Lena held a glass of red wine in her hand, and Kara simply drank a cold beer.
Lena would've preferred something stronger, but for some reason she couldn't bring herself to grab any of the stronger liquors that she had.
Maybe it was because she couldn't bare the thought of drinking heavily whilst her son was in the other room.
Not like Lionel did when she and Lex were younger.
Alcoholism ran in her family, and alcohol induced abuse also ran in her family.
Knowing that she now has a partner and children in the future made Lena subconsciously choose her alcohol more than she ever would have before. She chose the alcohol that wouldn't get her drunk with a couple of glasses.
She'd probably honestly stop after one drink to be honest. She needed a clear mind for this next discussion, even if she wanted to get plastered and wake up from this weird dream she believed she was caught in.
She couldn't truly believe that this was happening.
A son from the future. A son with her best friend, her superhero best friend.
A boy who seemed to be a shining beacon of hope just like his other mother.
Lena didn't deserve either of them, or her other two future children that she also apparently had.
Or so that was what she believed.
It was hard for her to digest that she had a chance for a brighter future than she could have ever hoped for when she moved to National City after seeing Supergirl's debut.
Back then all she could have ever hoped and prayed for was to wash the sins of her family away by becoming an ally to the girl of steel.
She wished to wipe away the bad blood between the Luthors and the Supers.
Never in her wildest imagination could she have ever predicted that not only would she befriend a super, but that, that super would become her best friend, her personal hero, and her future wife and mother of three beautiful children, if what Lorcan said was true.
Which to be honest, she has seen no reason to doubt the young teenager boy.
Lena wondered what else the universe had in store for her? Everything in her future seemed to be something to look forward to.
That has never happened before, not to Lena, and definitely not to any Luthor that she knew of.
Their family was cursed with bad luck and madness/insanity depending on how you wanted to put it.
Lena seemed to be the only semi-sane one of the whole bunch, because let's be honest, you don't spend most of your life surrounded and raised by Lionel, Lillian, and Lex and not come out of it a little insane.
Maybe that insanity is what caused her to decide to date and then marry her family's greatest enemy. A giant F U right to their hearts.
Actually, now that Lena thought about it, that definitely seemed like something she'd do. She was as vindictive as any other Luthor after all.
Thankfully though, she actually already did have feelings for Kara Danvers, aka Supergirl, or else the news of their future together might have sounded insane, even to her own mind.
She couldn't lie to herself and say that she wasn't happy that she ended up with the Kryptonian though.
She was actually pretty happy with the future her son had laid out for her and Kara both.
It seemed like something that came out of a fairy tale.
But he was living proof wasn't he?
So she would just have to believe it. She married Kara Danvers, she had three children, Lorcan, Alura, and Elizabeth from what Lorcan had told them.
And she was also apparently a witch too?
All of this was confusing and making her brain hurt. Maybe some sleep would be a good thing? She had been up every since yesterday after all.
...
Kara was different from Lena.
Yes she had her own doubts, not about Lorcan actually being from the future, or being their child, but about being a good parent.
After all, she had failed in her mission to raise Kal-El, the man had even abandoned her with the Danvers as if she was a burden and not family, he didn't seem to want to learn many of their customs or keep Krypton alive, he was more of an Earthling than a Kryptonian in heart seeing as this planet is all he'd ever known growing up.
Kal-El was not a true Kryptonian, even if he seemed proud to wear the emblem of the house of El on his chest everyday as he fought crime, he just wouldn't ever be a true Kryptonian like Kara was. Which is why she would always be stronger than he was.
Kal-El limited himself subconsciously to Earth's standards. He never seemed to push past those mental blocks that he seemed to have engrained into his brain, which is why she would always physically be more powerful. Kara was a Kryptonian first, a human second.
Unlike Kal-El who was a human first and Kryptonian second. He did not want to know of his true home and barley understood the language, he didn't know the true meaning of the light of Rao.
And neither would his children, who are Kryptonian only in name. Given that Conner is the only one alive at this point in time.
Kal-El hadn't even given the boy his Kryptonian name, something that grated on Kara's nerves. She had long since decided that if Conner were to ask, she would give him his Kryptonian name, she was the head of the House of El after all, even if Kal-El liked to assume he was the head.
Which is why Kara was hoping that she could pass on all of her teachings to her future children.
She wanted to keep Krypton and their history alive somehow. Sam had abated some of those internal worries, having shown great interest in Kryptonian culture, giving Kara hope that Krypton would remain alive in both of their hearts.
Kara hoped that Lorcan and her future kids would also be able to grown up immersed in the history that was Krypton. But she worried that she wouldn't be a good parent because of her failure to teach Kal-El.
Though from what she's seen of Lorcan so far, she could see that Lorcan too was a proud Kryptonian.
He seemed to use Kryptonian words in his everyday language subconsciously.
He chose a fine hero name that would've made any warrior Kryptonian proud to have him in their ranks, and he seemed to be the perfect blend of Kryptonian and human.
Something that Kal-El nor his kin would ever be able to pull off.
Lorcan was Kara's hope for a better future, and by Rao was she going to keep her son and his future alive no matter what rogues she had to face at the end of the day, Lorcan was her family, and if there was one thing that Kara prides herself on, it was her ability to always be there for her family.
Even if they are from the future and quite possibly an alternate universe.
Family was family, and that was the most important thing that mattered to someone from the house of El.
Now, the only other thought in her mind was, how was Lena handling this discovery of their entwined futures?
