Watching from afar

Classes have started a few days ago at Eden's Garden Academy. As much as exciting it looked like to go to a "Ultimates" school, it wasn't so different than a common high school. Everyday, there would be activities to improve their talents and to get along with each other.

Diana, the Ultimate Cosmetologist, had preference to art classes due to her passion, but she was very attentive at how would the other students get to improve their talents. Some examples of it would be: how Grace, Eloise and Desmond would do their best in sports at PE or some deep discussions between Ulysses, Wolfgang and Damon at History or Philosophy classes. She considered everyone there as her friend, even though she didn't talk to everybody, but then, she noticed something about her roommate:

"The X is 2,98." Eva said, unusually loud considering how quiet she is.

"That's correct, Eva."

It was the first math class they were having. The talents of everyone didn't need math as a need, so just a few students actually were paying attention or responding the teacher, with one of them obviously being Eva, the Ultimate Mathlete. Diana could her some chatting behind her, people talking about boredom, about lunch time, but mainly...

"How do you even end up being a Ultimate Mathlete? Jeez."
Grace speaks, rude enough to not even whisper her comment

"And to think she even tried to hide it with a "Ultimate Liar" title." Eloise whispers, probably to Desmond.

"I'd kill myself if i was a mathlete..." Kai says to Diana, turning back to look at her since he was sitting right in front of the girl.

"That's kind of rude, you know? Also, if she is the Ultimate Mathlete, she probably loves math!" Diana answers.

"Liking math sounds like the type of things that make you go to hell, seriously... But she's your roommate, isn't she? Don't you see her studying all the time?"

Oh yes, they were roommates, Diana nearly forgets.
"Not really, she's usually not in the dorms at all, just when we are going to sleep..."

Kai continues to talk, but the Cosmetologist has her eyes focused on Eva now. Does she love her talent? Where does she usually goes? Diana don't remember seeing her even at lunch time, is it because she lied about her talent?

It was an embarrassing memory, at the halls there was a huge list of the students and their talents, revealing Eva's lie right away, making some of her classmates dislike her right from the beginning. The pink haired girl remembers now, how Wolfgang usually mocks the mathlete for being some minutes late, how Wenona always displayed a look of disapproval when close to Eva, how rude Grace always is to her. Eva probably didn't had no friends at all, and she felt guilty it took some days to notice that.

"Helloo? Diana? Are you still listening?" Kai's voice suddenly wakes her up from her thoughts.

"Oh! Sorry, i zoned out for a bit. Don't you think Eva look so lonely? I just realized this now."

"Yeah, i mean, she's kinda weird so it's understandable." He answers.

"Weird? She looks like a normal introvert girl to me. Maybe i can cheer her up sometime!" Diana smiles, redirecting her glaze to Eva again.

Classes were over for today, so why not try to find out where the Ultimate Mathlete goes at the end of the day? That was the idea Diana had on her mind, silently following after Eva on the hallways. The walk didn't last too long until the black haired girl entered the Library, sitting on a table far away from anything and anyone else. Eva opens her backpack, taking out what looked like a videogame console and focused only on that.

"So Eva goes to the Library to... play games?" Diana whispers to herself, watching her while hiding behind of of the bookshelves.

A few minutes go by and Diana decides she should try to approach and have a conversation.

"Eva! It's so good to see you here! May i sit with you?" The girl exclaims with excitement.

"I know you were watching me, you know..." The other says, bluntly, leaving Diana silent for a few seconds "Can you explain why? We sleep in the same room, if you wanted to talk to me, could've waited till i went to sleep."

"𝘎𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳" Appears on screen, Eva sighs.

"W-well you see, i just wanted to know what you do after classes, since i can't find you anywhere." The Cosmetologist responds, embarrassed.

"...Really?" She turns her head to the other, making eye contact for the first time.

"Of course! We are not just roommates, we are classmates too, so it means we can be friends, right?"

Eva looks silently at her, until a small smile forms on her lips.
"Friends, huh... I suppose so."

Most of the days of the week now, Diana would try to talk to Eva about random things, hangout with her at the Library or the Academy's Yard, or go with her to her favorite Coffee shop.

She could organize all about the Mathlete in her head. First of all, she wasn't just amazing at math, but also science! Diana spend hours listening to her theories about the universe and would never get tired of it. Eva was also kind of a game nerd. The pink haired didn't understand much of those game talks, but still appreciated it. They would also gossip about the other students, having different opinions off all of them, where Diana saw a positive thing about someone, Eva saw a negative one.

"I don't know about Jett, he is so energetic but no one thinks about how mysterious he is." Eva mentioned, taking a sip of her apple juice.

It was Saturday, and Diana felt like inviting Eva to get something to eat close to school. They were chatting as usual.

"Mysterious? You mean Jett himself, his talent, or...?"
Diana asks, confused.

" He doesn't take of his helmet even at PE, or show his body at all. Usually, people would be embarrassed or insecure about their bodies, but even when we all we went to the pool at the other day, he was wearing a tight swimsuit, covering his skin but showing his body type."

"Well, if he's not insecure about his body type, maybe it's the skin. But that's such a pessimistic thought! No one would react bad to his skin color." The pink haired frowns.

The sound of the door opening its noticeable, and just as it echoes, Eva seems to tense staring at the door. Diana looks behind her right away and sees two familiar faces.

"Oh? What a coincidence to find you here, Ms Venicia, and..." Wolfgang greets the Cosmetologist kindly, but his empathic look goes away when we met eyes with the mathlete. "...And You. Good afternoon, girls."

"Hey! Good afternoon to you too, Wolfgang!" Diana happily greets him back.

"Hi there make up girl and-- Ugh, what are you doing here with her?!" Grace complains, disappointed with who Diana was hanging out with.

Eva swallows her food, looking down at the table.

"You don't need to talk like this, Eva is my friend you know!"
The pink haired says with proud.

"Tch, you're quite strong to hangout with that weirdo, watch out with her lies or whatever." Grace says, loud as usual.

"Ms Madison, it's not necessary to cause a scene... It's very kind of you to make company for Eva, Diana. But if she causes you any trouble..."

"Hah, what kinda trouble? She's gonna beat Diana with the pythagorean theorem or something? That's just a weird kid."

"My point is that isn't really good to stay alone with a person who claimed to be an "Ultimate Liar", I'm just making sure Ms Venicia is feeling safe." Wolfgang smiled, looking at both Diana and Eva.

"I'm... I'm going to the bathroom." Eva flees from the place, making an obvious excuse.

"I guess we talked a little too loud, heh. Whatever, let's just take a seat, Wolfgang." Grace says as she goes with the Lawyer to search for a table.

"Ah! Eva, wait!" Diana runs after her.
