What is family without ...
After Minerva left and left him in a calmer emotional state, Severus decided to check on the boy. He slowly walked past his room and watched him from a distance only to find him sleeping soundly. That night Severus slept peacefully with the reassurance of having Harry with him.
In the morning as Winky brought breakfast and he got ready for the hustle and bustle of the day, Severus remembered that well, he had to be a responsible father first and foremost and as Minerva had told him, she could lessen his punishment for the whole year if Severus would talk to Harry about his insecure and unconscious actions and teach him a lesson as a father himself. In the end, he thought that limiting his Quidditch hours, taking away his toys for a while, and not letting him visit Hedwig for a while would do the trick. (Except for transformation classes).
Maybe they were a bit strong measures, but he definitely wouldn't raise a spoilt child like James, Harry had been through so much, but he had put his life in so much danger this time that. He couldn't imagine what he would do if he lost him, as it was stressful enough to think about his health condition that it almost invaded every aspect of his life, now having to think about his actions was more than enough.
Harry went downstairs and connected his oxygen cannula to the machine in the living room. Severus smiled at him and as he approached he ruffled his hair as he passed him.
"How are you feeling this morning, lion?
"Very well dad.
"Are we short of words today, lion?"
"That's what I'm asking you.
"Harry..."
"Me, I'm tired.
"I understand, I'm sorry I woke you up with the noise, but... I still think it's better this way.
"I don't have a problem with getting up early, I'm used to it dad."
"I... I mean we still have about 10 minutes before I leave. Poppy gave you a three-day rest period. Now, I can't look after you in the day...do you understand that?"
"Of course, I was thinking of going to the tower."
"No, you're not going to Gryffindor tower until you're here with me for three days, I want to keep you close. However, I have to talk to you about your actions."
"I understand... what you mean.
"Perfect. That makes it easier, I want you to reflect on why the actions you took with Weasley, and why those were wrong. Even if I hadn't responded to you, some teacher would have come to the station to pick you up. I don't know why or in what crazy second it occurred to the two of you to do such a -"
" I'm sorry, I know ...what we did wasn't right and ...I don't know maybe we were scared, but I tried to call you" Harry looked sheepishly towards the dining room chair and sat down as Severus finished packing some books into his briefcase.
"I know, but, still, it wasn't right."
"Please don't scold Ron," Harry said as he tried to wipe a few tears on the edge of his pajamas.
"I have already had a conversation with him and his hours, along with yours, of detention, will be reduced if and only if he keeps both keep their grades above average for the entire term. One low mark Harry and you will have detentions all year and every day as set by your Head of House."
" But dad...that's a lot, that's unfair!" Harry was getting annoyed, he didn't understand why his dad had changed from being a being of floating love to someone serious about giving detentions.
"Harry, I know you're upset, but I want you to understand the risk you took. Do you know what I would do if... if I lost you?" Severus stopped packing things and knelt in front of Harry, who looked at him with glassy eyes.
" I..."
" It would be the end for me, you are all I have and all I live for and all I ask of you is that you don't do that sort of crazy thing. Don't be so quick to make decisions, tell me, wait and see. I don't want you to have to pay the consequences one of these days".
"Dad, but that was almost impossible, I couldn't talk to you!
"Harry, I m sure that someone would have come for both of you".
Harry stood up and walked across the plush living room carpet with his back to Severus.
"I think it's a lot of work, Dad."
"Are you complaining about a fair punishment?
"I'm pointing out that it's a bit excessive, even Hermione told me that-"
"I'm not interested in the opinions of others about the punishments that I decided over my students and specifically about my son. "
"But .. you're overreacting, besides I'm not good at all subjects, getting Exceed expectations in all of them will be very difficult."
"Then work on it."
"It's not that easy.
"I know, but you'll have to work hard Harry. I expect nothing less from my son. And just so you understand in these three days I don't want you lying in bed doing anything, but I don't want you running around the house either. I want you to be quiet, take your medication and while I'm gone Winky will supervise you."
"I'm not a little boy."
"I'm not finished."
"But..."
"But, even though you're not a little boy, you get into a lot of trouble and you also have a particular health condition that worries your father a lot. Now you will stay here and I want you to write 1000 lines of an essay on why it was irresponsible to have blown up a car over London with all the consequences you have as a minor with the ministry, the disciplinary proceedings, the disgrace to your house, the worries you caused to the school teachers and me."
" But Dad !!!!!!" Harry turned around crossing his arms and looking angry.
"That's Enough Harry. Now, here is your timetable. Get your notebooks and other supplies ready. I want everything ready and get some rest, I don't want to see you running around the rooms."
"It's not fair.
"Harry, it's more than fair. The Ministry almost expelled you.
"What?
"Thank Professor Dumbledore that he was able to go to a trial to testify on your behalf. Now getting good marks and having detentions with teachers isn't the worst thing that can happen to them."
" Sure it is."
"You will no longer have a 10 hour Quidditch training, now it will only be 3 until we assess how we will handle your meds and flying on that infernal broom."
"It's not an infernal broom and you can't do this to me, Quidditch is everything to me."
" Precisely, you will learn that your actions have consequences."
Harry had started to build up tears that were pure angry at what was happening, he couldn't believe that just because he had committed such a simple thing even quidditch was affected. Harry walked over to the table in the living room and kicked it gently in an attempt to release his anger.
"Stop kicking the table, Harry. The poor piece of furniture is not to blame for your actions."
"I don't care! "
"What did you say?"
"I don't understand why you're being like this with me, it was just a silly mistake that won't happen again and you're taking everything away from me. Absolutely everything I want"
"Every action has a consequence and if you are going to spend this year being punished, then I hope you are because for the first time I find myself disappointed about you and your attitude. "
Harry kicked the table hard and stood up pouting and with his arms crossed towards his rec room. Severus raised his wand, pulled Harry's wand out of his pajamas into the air, and locked the room where the toys were with Harry's Quidditch equipment.
"No! What are you doing! "
"Don't behave like that with me Harry Evans Snape! Have some decency and act like a rational being."
"But... you're taking everything away from me, Quidditch, my games, giving me detentions, writing, and asking for perfect marks! I don't know what else you want from me!"
" I want you to understand what you did. "
" Fine! I'll stay locked up here if that's what you want, but at least give me my wand!"
"No, you'll do everything without the help of magic."
"I don't understand why you're doing this to me dad."
"I hope you give me an explanation because I don't know why you and Weasley did that. You're supposed to be intelligent children, but these are not the actions of someone who can reason"!
"Don't talk bad about Ron, he's my friend and..."
"And he should have told you it was the worst idea to get in a car."
"I hate you! You don't want any of my friends and you don't even love me!"
Harry took three puffs from his rescue inhaler and watched as Severus approached him with a worried look on his face.
"Breathe Harry, It's pokey. Just calm down ."
"Don't tell me what to do."
"Harry, I'm not going to put up with this attitude of yours."
"Then let me go to my room in the tower and you'll never have to see me again. " Harry coughed hard that Severus thought that he screwed up all that conversation.
" You know that's not what I mean "
"At least there I can be with Hedwig, who seems to be the only one who understands me."
"Is strictly forbidden to let that bird into your room."
"What, no, that's not fair, it's Hedwig!"
"And we haven't determined if she causes attacks, so for the time being you will not touch the animal unless it is very necessary and you will not be able to bring her in"
"I HATE YOU, I HATE YOU, I WISH MUM WAS HERE, YOU'RE THE WORST! RON WAS RIGHT ABOUT YOU ALL ALWAYS."
"HARRY, COMO HERE, NOW!
Harry took off his oxygen cannula and his inhaler threw them hard on the floor and ran to his room. He hated his dad with all the strength of his soul right now. Even the Dursleys at least let Hedwig in his room. Even they were better than Snape.
Ron was right, Ron was right, Ron was right, Ron was right, Ron was right, Ron was right.....
Harry got to his room and threw the bracelet out of the room and locked himself in.
