It was a quiet night at Grimmauld Place. The ticking sound of the old grandfather clock was echoing, the silence was unbearable. Sirius had a glass of firewhisky in his band while Remus watched him in silence. It's been weeks since Remus left Hogwarts and take refuge at Sirius'. It seems an invisible wall was between them and there wasn't any charm or spell to break it. Remus sighed deeply and spoke
"Are you ever going to forgive me ?" he asked. Sirius just snorted and kept sipping his drink
"What is there to forgive Remus, you did what you thought was right," Sirius said flatly.
Remus flinched at his tone. It's been ages since Sirius addressed him as Remus, he was always moony to Sirius as he was Padfoot to him. But time changed them both. They were no longer two teenage boys who were unsure about their feelings about each other. But Remus couldn't take it anymore, the silence, bitterness and cold shoulder, he can't deal with it. He got up abruptly as Sirius looked at him
"I- I know I abandoned you, I betrayed you. I'm the worst, just say it. I can't stand this any longer, for Merlin's sake Sirius, say something!"
Remus shouted, his voice sounding weird to his ears. Remus was about to leave when Sirius got up. He approached Remus and spoke
"You know Moony, how it feels like. when the one you love the most doesn't believe you" Sirius said. Remus took Sirius's hands In his and spoke urgently
"B-but I did- do believe you, I do!," Remus said.
Sirius just shook his head as Remus held Sirius' hand more tightly.
"You believe me now, maybe but that time you thought I was responsible for Prongs and Lily's death. You never visited me at Azkaban, instead, you left Britain" Sirius accused
"I-I was alone and heartbroken. My best friend was dead and my boyfriend was in prison. Who was also accused of killing his other friend?. What do you think I should've done?"
Remus asked on the verge of tears. Sirius huffed and turned away and spoke in an emotionless tone
"We can't mend what is broken". Remus' eyes went wide on this. He forcefully turned Sirius at him and look him in the eyes
"Yes, we can. I'm not giving up on us and I'm not letting you give up on us either" Remus said stubbornly.Sirius just scoffed.
."There's no us, Remus"
Remus crashed his lips to Sirius'. Sirius went still during the akward kiss as Remus was about to pull away, Sirius pulled him closed. The kiss was heated and full of passion. Without breaking the kiss, Sirius led Remus to his room where they clumsily removed each others robes and everything was a blur
The next morning when Remus woke up the other side of the bed was empty. A sense of dread coiling inside of him. Was last night a dream?. Maybe Sirius was right one night can't mend at was broken years ago. He'll just pretend as if nothing happened between them and the last ght was just a dream. As Remus was about to get up and dress, the bathroom door open and Sirius came out with a towel wrapped around his waist, water was dripping from his hair. Remus blushed and looked away. Maybe just maybe there's still hope for them.
