Heimdall Sees All

While Tony was napping in the library, Thor and Evie were making their way to the training yard. Evie was so excited about seeing Bjørn again she would have run to the training yard if she had known where it was. Thor had mixed feeling about his little girl being so excited about seeing a boy. On the one hand, he was happy that Evie had a friend; on the other, it worried him that their friendship could lead to something else in the future, and Thor wasn't ready for his little girl to grow up; even though that was still a long time from now.

They arrived at the training yard where Evie and Thor could see Bjørn sparring with his father, Tyr. They were both using swords as they circled each other in the ring. Thor and Evie sat down and watched as father and son clashed. Evie gasped when Tyr swept out Tyr swept Bjørn's feet out from under him, and he hit the ground hard. Then his father came at him with his sword raised. But Bjørn was able to block and get to his feet. Evie cheered, and Bjørn glanced towards Evie. He smiled then went back to fighting with his father.

The sparring lasted for another thirty minutes until Tyr pinned Bjørn with a sword at his neck. Tyr laughed and helped his son up, “You have improved.”

“Thank you, father.”

Tyr wrapped his arm around his son's shoulder and whispered in his son's ear, “Could it be that you were trying to impress a certain princess?”

Bjørn flushed at his father's observation, but he denied it. Tyr laughed and patted his son on the shoulder, “Of course it isn't, my son. Come, let's get cleaned up so that you can greet the princess.”

They went around the corner and took a quick shower and changed their clothes, then came back out. Tyr and Bjørn made their way towards Thor and Evie, “Good afternoon, Thor, Princess Evie,” Tyr said.

“Good afternoon, Tyr, Bjørn. That was a wonderful spar, was it not, Petal?”

Evie blushed, “Yes, it was, Daddy. I thought that you were going to get hurt, Bjørn, but you did excellently.”

“Thank you, Evie. What brings you back to Asgard so soon?”

“Oh, I had to see my grandmother for some things.”

Bjørn nodded. He knew that if Evie wanted to tell him, she would say to him later. Bjørn smiled at Evie, then looked at Thor, “My Prince, would it be alright if I take Evie into the city? To visit our friends.”

Thor thought for a moment, but he looked at his daughter, who was giving him the puppy dog eyes, and he sighed, “Yes, but, you must have a guard go with you, and you must be back into time to get ready for the feast.”

Evie hugged her father, “Thank you, Daddy,” Evie said as she hugged and kissed her father.

The children ran off with a guard following behind them. As they ran out of the training yard, they ran into Lady Sif and The Warriors Three. Evie smiled at them and said hello.

“And where are you two off to,” Sif asked.

“To the city, Lady Sif,” Bjørn answered with Evie nodding.

She then walked towards Volstragg and smiled at him, “I'm sorry for how I reacted the first time I saw you, Volstragg. I'm not used to seeing men your size be nice to me. But Daddy explained that you're not like my Uncle Vernon.”

Volstragg smiled at his Princess, “I understand, My Princess. Your father explained everything, and I don't blame you for being afraid of me. But I swear by the Allfather that I will never hurt you.”

“I know, Volstragg, thank you,” Evie said, then hugged the big man.

Volstragg teared up, and he sniffled. He reached down and picked Evie up to hug her properly. She then kissed his cheek then asked him to put her down. He put her down, and Bjørn offered his hand, and they took off running, once again with the guard following them.

“What was that about, Evie,” Bjørn asked.

“I'll tell you later.”

He nodded, and they took a transport to the city to meet up with their playmates. As they made their way to the city, Evie started to tell Bjørn about her life on Midgard until her father found her. She said to him that her Uncle Vernon used to beat her and that he was a large man, and because of him, she was afraid of large men. Bjørn could not believe that Evie's relatives could ever treat her like that. It was inconceivable that someone could treat sweet little Evie like, let alone her relatives. At that moment, Bjørn swore that he would do everything in his power to keep Evelyn Thorsdottir safe.

Bjørn nodded to himself and looked at Evie and smiled, “Come on, let us go to the sweet shop. The others will be meeting us there.” He then offered his hand to Evie.

Evie smiled and took Bjørn's hand, and the two children took off running with the guard running after them.

Meanwhile, on Midgard,

Sirius and Remus had gotten up early and had gone to have breakfast. They were going to continue their search where they had left off the night before someone severed Sirius's weak bond with Evie. Sirius was in a bad mood that he could no longer feel his bond with Evie. He didn't understand what was going on. Why was his bond weakening? Was Evie dying? Or was there something else at work? All that Sirius knew was that he would find his goddaughter and take her home with him where she belonged.

Remus could see that Sirius was becoming frustrated and that the bond that he and Evie had was weakening. Remus had his ideas as to what was causing it. Mainly, that magic did not consider Sirius Evie's godfather because he was longer worthy, or someone had replaced Sirius in Evie's heart. It was not something that Remus was going to tell Sirius until he was sure. In the meantime, they had to find a different way to track Evie.

“Padfoot, if you can't feel your bond, we need to look for another way to track Evie.”

After wandering around New York for a while, Sirius finally agreed, “What do you suggest, Moony?”

“Why don't we try a tracking spell? We can start with her last location and work backward.”

“See, that's why you were always the brains of their group. Okay, let's get started.”

Remus cast a complicated spell that led them to Macy's Department Store. Three sets of footprints appeared, and Evie seemed to be standing in between them. One of those sets of footprints seemed rather large. Remus and Sirius walked into the department store, following the prints. Sirius gasped when they were able to see something like after the image of Evie and the people that had her. They couldn't make out their faces, but Sirius was sure that Evie was being forced to accompany these men. They watched as the image of Evie broke away from the men and ran away. Sirius's heart clenched when the bigger man caught her again. “She almost escaped, but that bastard caught her.”

That's not what Remus saw. He saw Evie running ahead and eagerly wait for them to catch up. The after image didn't show in detail what was going on, but one thing was exact, Evie was excited about something and wanted to share it with them.

They continued to follow the footprints. Everywhere Sirius looked, he found a sinister plot, but from what it looked like to Remus, these men were buying clothes for Evie. After a while, Remus and Sirius walked out of Macy's, “Sirius, I don't think these men were doing anything other than buying Evie clothes.”

“They plan to keep her for a long time, Remus, of course, they're going to get her clothes. Let's continue our search.”

Remus and Sirius walked throughout Manhatten, backtracking Evie and the men's footsteps to a building. It was closed at the moment, but that wasn't going to stop Sirius. They disillusioned themselves and unlocked the gate. After doing that, Sirius did the same thing to the front door, but Remus told him that muggles used alarms to summon the police. With a wave of his wand, Remus disabled the alarm. When they got inside, they began looking for any traces of Evie. The only thing they found was that Evie and the men were sitting in an office with another man discussing something.

“This is another dead end, Moony.”

“Not really, Padfoot. If you had bothered to notice, this is a primary school. So, I guess that they were enrolling Evie in school.”

“What's going on, Moony? Why are they doing all these things for her?”

“Maybe they don't know that Evie is magical and want her to keep up with her studies?” Moony offered.

“I don't understand why are these men treating Evie so kindly?”

“I think Evie went with these men willingly, Padfoot.”

“But why?”

“Think about it, Padfoot. We both know that Petunia and Vernon were going to be cruel to Evie because of who she is; maybe Evie thought this was the lesser of two evils.”

“Well, Evie has me and you now. We'll take care of her. Come on; we need to find where these people have taken her and get her back.”

Remus nodded, but he had the feeling it wasn't going to be as easy as they were thinking. But Remus followed Sirius anyway.

Back on Asgard,

Heimdall had been watching what was happening on Midgard. He instantly knew that the two men searching for his princess magicals would be a problem for Prince Thor, not that he couldn't handle them. But Heimdall felt it was important for his prince to know about these two men and be prepared when they went back to Midgard.

Heimdall decided to leave his post and seek an audience with the Allfather and the Queen. Heimdall arrived at Odin's study. He and Frigga were sitting reading when a servant announced that Heimdall was there to see them. Odin and Frigga looked at each other. They knew that it must be something important if Heimdall left his post.

“Enter.”

Heimdall entered and bowed to the two monarchs. “Your Graces, I have news from Midgard.”

Frigga and Odin looked at each other, “What is it, Heimdall?”

“Some magical Midgardians are searching for Princess Evelyn. They have been retracing her steps throughout the entire city. It will only be a matter of time that they reach Stark Tower.”

“And do you know the names of these magical Midgardians,” Odin asked?

“Sirius Black and Remus Lupin. And from what I heard this person, Black, things he has a rightful claim to our princess.”

Odin scoffed, “This Midgardian is in for a rude awakening if he thinks he can take my granddaughter from her father.”

“There is a bond between Black and our Princess, Your Majesty, but it has weakened significantly since Tony Stark made the magical vow with our Princess to be her godfather.”

Odin thought for a moment, he then called for a guard to bring his sons and Mr. Stark to him, “I will inform them about the two magical Midgardians.”

The guard bowed and left to inform the men that Odin had requested their presence. A few minutes later, Thor, Loki, and Tony arrived in Odin's study. They greeted the monarchs then Odin motioned for them to sit down. Thor was surprised to see Heimdall there and looked between the Guardian of Asgard and his parents with a concerned look on his face.

“Mother, Father, Heimdall. Is there something wrong? Is Evie alright.”

“The young princess is fine, My Prince. She is enjoying her time in the city with Bjørn and her friends,” Heimdall said.

Thor visibly relaxed, though Tony stiffened at hearing his goddaughter was in the city with the infamous Bjørn. Loki chuckled at Tony's reaction, “So, what's the problem,” Tony asked.

“Two magical Midgardians are looking for the Princess in New York right now,” Heimdall informed the three men, “And they are getting closer to finding your residence, Mr. Stark.”

Thor, Loki, and Tony looked at each other. Tony furrowed his brow. He wasn't prepared to deal with the wizards of Earth yet, but Thor and Loki didn't seem worried at all; Loki even laughed, “So what are we going to do about these wizards, guys.”

“Nothing. These mortals are no match for me. And once you have receive training, Stark, they will be no match for you either,” Loki assured him.

“Are you sure?”

Loki deadpanned.

“Right, of course, you are. Then, do we confront these guys or wait for them to show up and try to take Evie?”

“Why don't you wait and hear them out,” Frigga suggested, “After all, they pose no threat. It would be interesting to see what they have to say.”

“Should we return now, Mother,” Thor asked.

“No, my granddaughter is enjoying her time here, and I believe she may need a few more sessions. Is that not correct, My Queen,” Odin asked.

“I think Evie has made significant progress, though her fear of larger men still exists. Getting to know Volstragg and Tyr will help her, perhaps even meeting Baldur. However, he has yet to return from Vanaheim; he should return tonight. Evie needs to understand that not all men will try to hurt her, or else she will never feel truly safe in Asgard without you, Thor,” Frigga explained, since large men were the norm, not the exception.

Thor nodded, “When do you suppose we can return to Midgard? Evie's school begins in a few weeks.”

“No more than a few days. As I said, Evie has made significant progress. The feast tonight will help.”

“Then, it is agreed. We shall stay a few more days, then let the magical Midgardians approach us. But we will make no mention to Evie,” Thor said.

Everyone agreed.
