I gave you my heart

"Have you told them yet?" Lily asked.

James shook his head, "I was thinking we could do it together, when everyone's here."

Lily nodded, and Peter came through the door.

"Hey, I'm a little early but I come bearing cookies."

Lily's head shot up, "Peter thank you so much, I'm starving."

James gasped, "why didn't you tell me? What are you craving? We've got left over meringue? Fruitcake? Some Roast?"

He searched through the cupboards, as Lily rolled her eyes.

"Calm down, I'm fine."

Peter sat down on the sofa, pulling on his sleeves, "What's wrong with James?"

"I'll tell you later, we've got an announcement."

"Announcement? I hope it's good?" Remus said, walking in.

James came running over to him, "Remus!"

Remus smiled and as James hugged him, he winced slightly.

"What's wrong?" James asked.

"Nothing, I'm fine." He replied, walking away to sit with the others.

"Do you need your cane?", Lily asked, getting up to give him the one they kept at their house for him.

"No, It's fine." he said, waving her away as he walked over to one of the chairs.

"Why isn't Sirius with you?" Peter asked.

Remus turned to him, "Oh, I came straight from, uh, work."

Lily frowned, "I thought you said you didn't have work to-"

The sentence was left unfinished as Dorcas and Marlene came in.

"Remus! I haven't seen you in like 2 months", Marlene said, waiting for Dorcas to sit down so she could sit in their lap.

Remus nodded, "yeah, Sirius' birthday."

Sirius came in at that moment, as if on cue, "Prongs! I found this new polish for my bike, and you should see that beauty now. It's so shiny, I swear."

They stopped as xe saw Remus sitting across the room.

"Hey", he said.

"Hi", they replied, and promptly left the living room.

"What are you doing in here?" James asked, turning around as Sirius walked into the kitchen.

"I didn't know Remus was coming", Sirius said, jumping up onto the counter.

"You live together, how did you not know that", he replied, taking something out of the oven.

"Right, sometimes I forget that", they mumbled.

"Take this since you're here", James dropped a tray of food in xyr arms, "Me and Lily have an announcement to make."

As everyone sat down, James and Lily smiled at each other and got out of their seats.

"So, we have an something to tell you all", Lily said, "I'm preg-"

"Lily's pregnant, We're having a kid", James interrupted with excitement, jumping up and down.

"I wanted to say it", Lily said, glaring at him jokingly.

"You snooze, you lose", they grinned back.

"You're having a kid but still act like kids yourself", Marlene laughed.

"Congratulations, when are you due?"Dorcas said, pushing Marlene off their lap to Marlene's protest, and hugged James and Lily.

"Around July or September", Lily replied.
Peter, Marlene and Sirius then got up to hug them as well.

"Baby Marauder?" Sirius grinned and James nodded in reply.

Lily walked over to Remus and sat on the arm of the chair, "There's a baby… in there", he said, pointing to her stomach.

They nodded in reply.

"That's terrifying, but in a good way", he said.
Lily laughed, "We wanted to talk to you and Sirius later."

Remus cringed, "good or bad?"

"You ask that about every piece of news you hear."

Remus shrugged, "Need to know whether to be worried or not… I'm happy for you though."

"I'm terrified, don't tell James that."

Remus crossed his fingers, "You two willl be great parents, and you've got all of us to help you through it."

"Well you haven't exactly visited much recently", She pouted.

"You're acting like Sirius", he laughed, "I promise I'll be around more, I think my boss is going to stop calling me away as much."

"He better, I hate your boss so much."

Remus nodded in agreement.

As it got later, Peter left, having to get up early for work. Around an hour later, Dorcas and Marlene left, a little drunk.

"Before you two leave, we wanted to ask you something", James said, getting out a bottle of champagne.

"What's the champagne for?" Remus asked.
"Drinking", James said, leaving the bottle in the middle of the table.

Lily and James sat across from Remus and Sirius, staring at them.

They were silent for a few minutes before Sirius spoke up.

"Are you going to ask us now?"

"What are your thoughts on children?" Lily asked abrubtly, hands clasped together.

"Is this an interview?" Remus laughed.

"Answer the question."

"They're great? Very cute." Remus said.

"Very playful… and sticky", Sirius added.

"If you were ever babysitting our future child, would you put its happiness and well-being above all else?" James asked, copying Lily's clasped hands.

"Of course", Sirius replied instantly.

"Yes", Remus replied afterwards, as all three turned to him.

Lily and James looked at each other and nodded.

"Would you like to be our child's godparents?" Lily said.

Sirius grinned, "Yes! Fuck yes"

"No swearing around the kid, though", James warned.

Sirius nodded, still grinning widely.

"Remus?"

"Are you sure? I can't even look after myself, let alone a baby. And with my lycanthropy-"

"You'd only be raising them if something happened to both me and James, Likely you'll just have the title of godfather, and babysit them a few times."

"We can do all the godparent duties together", Sirius said, sliding their hand into Remus' to hold it.

It was the first thing they had said to each other all afternoon, since they had came in the Potter's home.

Remus nodded, "alright. I'd love to be one of their godparents." He smiled.

James whooped and grabbed the bottle of champagne, spraying it everywhere.

"James!" Lily yelled, laughing and pulling her jumper over her head to avoid getting wet.

Sirius stuck his tongue out and cheered, to the laughs of Remus.

As it got later, Sirius and Remus started getting their coats and shoes on to leave.

"Are you coming back tonight?" Sirius asked, stepping out the front door.

"Yeah, I am" Remus smiled, following them out.

"But I am not getting on your bike", he added.

"Oh come on!"
