Chapter 19
You shop with Daisy for hours, watching as she tries on various dresses and chooses flowers. Her excitement is contagious, every step of the process reminding you of the joy of your own wedding day with Severus.
You look up as she steps out of the dressing room again, but this time, your eyes widen at the sight.
This dress is perfect.
It’s an off-white color with thin straps resting on her shoulders. The dress is covered in a thin layer of sheer fabric, entirely covered in silver sparkles. The straps trail down the front of her body, dipping into a low V.
It follows the contours of her body tightly to her waist before fanning out to a fuller skirt. The train of the dress is long, fanning out behind her in a shimmering puddle of white.
“Well, what do you think?” She asks, smiling at you shyly.
You stand up, smiling back at her widely.
“That is your dress.” You answer. “It’s beautiful. Perfect!”
She squeals happily, looking at herself in the mirror. She twirls slowly, letting the light catch the sparkles in the dress and reflect like diamonds falling along her body. You check out before walking out of the store and finishing up the shopping for the day.
As you begin to walk back towards the school, Daisy reaches for Nova, taking her out of your arms with a smile.
“I’m gonna take her back to the school.” She says, grinning at you as Nova giggles in her arms. “And you’re going to go back to town for a while.”
You look at her with a confused expression, wondering what she means.
“Go.” She says. “The Three Broomsticks.”
You laugh nervously, agreeing as you say goodbye to her and Nova before walking back down the path towards the small town. Your heart beats quicker as you walk, wondering what you’ll walk into when you get to the tavern.
As the sign comes into view, you notice a dark figure standing just outside the front door. He turns around, and you find yourself smiling at Severus’ familiar face.
He steps closer, smiling a crooked smile as he reaches for you with one arm. As his hand secures itself around your waist, his other hand presents you a single red rose.
You laugh as you take it, twisting in his arms to press a kiss against his lips. He kisses you back sweetly, cupping your cheek in his large hand.
“What’s this all about?” You ask, letting him lead you into the tavern and to a table.
He pulls out your chair for you, running his finger tips along your back before he walks to his side of the table and sits across from you.
“It’s a date.” He says simply. “I can’t have a date with my favorite lady?”
You smile, a soft blush flooding your cheeks as you look back at him.
“Of course you can.” You answer, leaning closer across the table. “Anytime you want.”
Severus smiles now, his eyes flitting down to the table for a moment as he does. You set your rose beside you on the table as a waitress comes to take your drink orders. Severus reaches his hand across the table, taking your hand in his and running his thumb across the back of your hand softly.
“You look lovely.” He says quietly. “Did Daisy find a dress?”
You smile at him, squeezing his hand softly. You look at him in the dimly lit room, admiring every contour of his face, the flecks of light in his dark eyes, the shine against his silky black hair.
You look hot. You push to him, watching his eyes widen as the message flits across the bond.
“Yes she did find a dress.” You say out loud, not skipping a beat. “It’s beautiful.”
He chuckles lowly, shaking his head.
Hot? He echoes, his low voice filling your head. Interesting.
“Oh good.” He replies, just as smoothly. “I’m sure you’re planning something classy.”
His hand suddenly lands on your knee under the table, sending electricity through your body.
The waitress returns with the drinks, setting them down at the table as your eyes stay locked on Severus’. He smiles slyly, casually running his fingers along the inside of your lower thigh as he orders food smoothly.
The waitress turns towards you, asking for your order, and you stumble through ordering it as Severus’ touch leads your attention away from ordering. She writes it down, looking at you with an odd expression before leaving the table.
Is this “hot”? He asks, his eyebrows raising at you as you turn your attention back to him.
You laugh lowly, nodding as you trace his palm on the table with your fingertips. He raises his eyebrows again, smirking as he slides his hand slightly higher up your thigh under the table.
You look around the restaurant, making sure no one is watching as he laughs under his breath. Luckily, the tablecloth is long, and no one seems to be staring as he runs a slow circle along your thigh with his thumb.
What has gotten into you? You ask, laughing as you look at him across the table.
He smiles, biting his lip slightly.
I just think you look—perfect. He replies, his eyes scanning over you once. I can’t help myself.
His hand inches up higher, slipping his fingers under the hem of your skirt, and your breath hitches in your throat.
You’re driving me crazy. You push back, exhaling heavily.
He just laughs, knowing exactly what he’s doing as his dark eyes stare back at you. He stays in that position for a while, smiling and talking to you as you wait for the waitress to return with your meals.
His fingers on your skin sends your heart racing, and as the waitress sets down your plates, he pulls them away. The cold air from where his hot fingers were moments ago causes a shiver to creep across your body.
Severus laughs lowly as he watches you shiver, and your chest swells with the deep sound of his laugh. You eat and talk together, feeling the thick charge of electricity between you as you do.
Severus pays the waitress as you finish, and he stands up, offering his arm to you as he does. You loop your arm through his, smiling up at your husband as he leads you out onto the street.
The stars are out now, shining over your heads as you walk down the softly lit path.
“Ready to go home?” He asks quietly, looking at you as he speaks.
You nod, smiling up at him.
“Your outfit is lovely.” He tells you, setting his hand over yours on his arm.
I can’t wait to take it off. He pushes to you as an afterthought.
You laugh, your heart hammering wildly in your chest as you do. He laughs too, and you lean your head against his arm as you continue walking back towards the castle.
