I don’t think that you are a monster (The Owl House)
Vee was used to be looked at as a monster. The people who had kidnapped her had seen her as that. Camilla was scared of her for a little bit, but quickly got over it once she found out how nice she was.
There was just one person who Vee never managed to get out of her head. John Hopkins, the museum man who had locked her in a crate. He was cruel and did things that she never told people about, not even Masha.
Masha had never seen her as a monster, even after learning what she actually looked like. So, Vee kept the look and alibi of being Luz’s twin sister. That didn’t protect her and it wouldn’t now.
Masha and her were at the movies, watching an old western movie. They were both enjoying their date, as cowboys and outlaws shot at each other, before riding off into the sunset.
Vee had enjoyed trying many different movies, but this one she had a bad feeling about. And she was right.
The scene switched to a farm and immediately a man who looked like John Hopkins came onto the screen. That had frightened her already, and it was all she could do to not fly out of her seat and run.
Things only got worse from there, as the man attempted and failed to get his cows to move. In response, he reached over and grabbed a cow poker, shocking the poor animals until they began to move back into the barn.
The sight of the shock sent her over the edge, and she stood up and bolted away. Vee kept running until she made it to the bathroom and locked herself in the stall, and sitting down on the toliet lid.
All she could think about was the feeling of electricity coursing through her body, and a small corner of her mind began to notice that her body was tensing up in the rhythm that Hopkins had tased her. She began to rock back and forth, hitting her head against the ceramic tile walls.
The door to the bathroom opened and someone walked in. Vee didn’t notice, she was too caught up in her own mind. When a figure slid under the stall’s gap, all she saw was a grinning face and bright blue light.
Vee shrunk back, holding up her arms, and beginning to mutter for him not to hurt her. She let out a sob as arms wrapped around her body, holding her tightly and stopping her from hitting her head more.
As she began to calm down, Vee noticed that Masha was hugging her and whispering comforting words into her ear. As she looked down at herself, she noticed that she was in her original form.
While she felt bad for ditching her partner, she was even more upset that they was hugging a monster so calmly. Vee jerked out of Masha’s hold and began to mutter, slowly gaining volume.
“Why are you hugging a monster? Why are you hugging a monster? Why are you hugging a monster?!?!” At the end, Vee was screaming.
Masha shushed her and pulled the creature back into her arms.
“Baby, you are not a monster. You are the best girlfriend that I have ever had. Whether you are a human or a lizard witch. I will still love you.” Masha whispered, pulling her impossibly closer.
They sat there for a while before separating and walking out of the theater. From then on, Masha swore to always check what was in a movie, not just based on a trailer.
