(Owl House) I can’t rest right now - Part 1
The ground around the broken castle smouldered as Belos’ tall body fell down. To Luz it looked like a fell in slow motion. The rebels on the field broke out in cheers as the Emperor’s guard retreated.
“You did it kid. Parallel arm thing coming in.” Eda shouted as her long arms wrapped around Luz’s bloody and dirty body.
She smiled into the hug as her mentor who now felt like her mother sobbed tears of happiness. Looking around the field she couldn’t see much.
“Eda?” Luz began, “Where is Raine?”
“I don’t actually know. During the fight we got separated by a plant spell.”
Watching in shock, Luz watched as her mentor’s face contorted in terror. She felt warm tears drop onto her head.
“If I can’t find them, I can’t tell them!” Eda sobbed.
“Tell them what?” The young girl replied.
“That I’m sorry.”
They stood there as long as they could, until Eda’s eyes ran out of tears and their legs cramped. She lowered down to the ground with Eda and let her sit down. Seeing King walk by, Luz grabbed him ignoring his cute ‘weh’ and switched herself with him.
Eda hugged King close to her as Luz stood up, knees cracking along with it. Her shoes padded on the burnt grass as she padded along looking for the face she knew so well.
After 10 minutes of walking she found the gray haired person lying on the ground. Rushing over, her mind already rushing with the worst case scenario, she kneeled on the ground. Raine had a gash on their forehead but they was still breathing.
Luz put a hand on their shoulder, jumping a bit as their arm grasped theirs, eyes flying open.
“Luz! Luuuuz!”
Eda came running over dried tears on her face. She knelt down before hugging Raine.
“I’m so so sorry. Please forgive me Raine.”
“There is nothing to forgive you for.”
While Eda was having a heart to heart with Raine, she heard a person’s groan behind her. Luz whirled around glyphs at the ready. The gold armor she saw she would remember from any where.
She walked over cautiously, wondering if it was truly safe to walk over. The blood she saw on his head told her different. He was looking around confused and scared. Luz put a healing glyph on his face, whispered a sorry at his whimper.
“Is my uncle dead?” He asked quietly.
“Belos is dead, I’m sorry.”
When Luz stared into his eyes he didn’t look sad that his uncle was dead, he ended up looking relived. The stinging of the healing glyph was clearly starting to take its toll on Hunter.
“So, how did you get this?” Luz asked, trying to take his mind off the pain.
He looked down in shame, as if it was embarrassing.
“My uncle.”
That was all he said during the rest of the time. Eda walked over after Raine had walked back home and asked Luz what happened. After telling the short version, the owl lady, picked the sad but bad boy and walked back towards the owl house.
After scouring the battle field for her girlfriend, she walked back to the owl house in a panic. She collapsed on the couch as soon as she got home. She hadn’t slept in more then 24 hours. Eda pulled her head onto her lap and did something unexpected. The cold hand started giving her head scratches.
Luz sobbed from all the stress and everything that had happened.
“Mom, I’m scared what if I can’t find her?”
Instead of pointing it out she kept cuddling. King jumped up and curled up on Luz’s lap. After a while of the body heat and soothing words, the chocolate brown eyes closed.
