Chapter 2
Tryouts ended, he watched as others left the field, his brother staying back. Sirius wasn’t sure why, everyone else seemed pleased, he watched Regulus turn towards the stand and begin walking towards him. He dashed to the other side of the stand, trying to stay hidden.
“Regulus!” He heard Narcissa yell towards him, Sirius knew it was his time to run.
“Hi Cissa. You watched?” He sounded happy, someone was there to support him.
“Of course I did! I wouldn’t miss it.” Sirius paused, he didn’t either.
“Thank you.” His brother sounded small as he spoke.
“Remember our talk last night?”
“Yeah.”
“I think I know where your biggest fan is.”
“You’re here.”
“Not me, I think I’m second.”
“Sirius came?” He sounded shocked, Sirius stayed behind the post, just able to see.
“Yeah, he did. I saw him earlier.”
“You’re lying.”
“I’m not, promise.”
“Yeah? Where is he?”
“Apparently playing hide and seek.” Narcissa sounded a bit annoyed, but amused. She pulled Regulus into the hiding spot with her.
“Cissa, we aren’t kids.” She dropped Regulus’ hand and crept over to Sirius.
“Stop hiding!” She grabbed him, laughing, pulling Sirius out to the light slivers.
“Sirius.” Regulus dropped his broom as the two looked at one another.
“You did amazing.”
“Cissa said you’d come.”
“I feel like I’m playing dolls and you’re taking forever with your plot line! Hug!” She shoved Sirius in an ungraceful way and he slammed into his little brother, both ending up on the ground.
“I’m so proud of you.” Sirius hugged his brother close and Regulus stayed stunned before hiding into his neck.
“You came.”
“Of course I came.”
“Great now you two have your moments. Spend some time together. Love you both!” She ran off fast and Sirius laughed.
“She found me down here just as tryouts started.”
“You’ve been here two hours?”
“Of course. I had to make sure you made the team.”
“You could have waited to see the posted results.” The two sat down together.
“That’s not a fast way to know the results.”
“You’re so dramatic.”
“Says the one who stayed sulking on the field when they did amazing at tryouts!” He smiled widely at the praise.
“You think so?”
“I’m positive.”
“Thank you.”
“I love you, Reggie. I am so proud.”
“I love you too.” He hugged his brother again, holding on a little tighter than necessary as if his brother was going to fade away. They stayed there that afternoon, the two telling stories as they used too late at night. Even playing with the snitch Regulus as he kept it on him for good luck, for an afternoon they were brothers once more.
