Harry was sitting on the Hogwarts grounds with Hermione studying, while Ron was at Quidditch practice. “Hermione, do I have to study for charms this early? The test is next week!” She sent him a mean look and stuck her face back into the book she was reading. “Yes Harry. It's important to be prepared.“ Harry sighed and went back to studying.
A little while later when they were packing up to go inside Harry was walking back to the Castle carrying most of the books Hermione brought outside with them; he of course tripped and fell. “Harry! Are you okay?!” Hermione called out to Harry as she tried to help him up. Harry meanwhile was trapped under a pile of dust heavy books. He didn’t process what was going on as a brick wall blocked out his coherent thoughts and replaced them with short messy sentences and slurred words. “Mione id that you?” Harry managed to get out of his mouth. “Oh Harry, are you stuck?” He hummed in response to the older witches question.
“Do you need help?” Hermione asked him. “I think is good.” His words were still fragmented and somewhat slurred. The older witch was worried by his responses. “Harry, are you sure that you're fine?” Harry nodded and tried to shake the books off but failed. He whined not really being able to form words at the moment. Hermione sat on her knees and started to pick off the many books that were piled atop her best friend.
After a minute or two she had gotten Harry out from under the pile of books. He had a far off look and wasn't focusing his eyes on anything in particular. “Harry darling, are you doing well? Did your head get hit in your tumble?..’’ He shook his head feeling very nonverbal. “Can you not talk…?” He sat there and looked at her trying to convey that he could indeed talk he just...couldn’t. It didn’t feel right to talk right now and it was just so much at once. Before he knew it he was tearing up.
“Oh Harry! I’ll drop it, don't worry.” At her words he stopped crying and just looked at her. Hermione had a feeling she knew what was happening. “Harry, why don’t we get up and go to the ROR! I can levitate our books behind us and we can change out of these icky uniforms!”
Harry nodded and got up to follow his friend. Hermione on the other hand was trying to quickly think of the simpler spell to levitate their books. She decided to just use a mastered version of ‘Wingardium Leviosa’ she quickly recited the words and the books were following close behind the pair as they walked on the Hogwarts grounds.
They got to the ROR room in record time due to Hermione keeping her younger friend on track and her innate desire to get to the room as quickly as possible. She put the massive stack of books down in a relatively small closet a few steps away from the Room of Requirement’s door. A light back and forth pace was set as the room morphed into what they needed. Quickly a door formed and she glanced around the room.
The area she ended up with was a pretty decent sized room with two doors leading off into rooms she didn't know yet. But the main room was light green with soft white carpet floors. There was an island separating a corner of the room and that area had an adult sized highchair and a small kitchen area. The floors on this part of the room were a dark hardwood. The rest of the room looked like a normal muggle living room. It had an off white couch and a dark wood television stand with a big television resting atop of it. Muggle movies and childrens books were spread on the dark glass coffee table. A black knit blanket was thrown across the back of the couch and was mostly covered up by faux fur pillows. A sippy cup and adult sized pacifier were sitting on the coffee table.
She told Harry to wait outside for a few minutes while she explored the other rooms. The first door was a pretty decently sized bathroom. It had a bathtub, a shower and a toilet. The bathroom was a dark blue with white accents. It had white tile floors and the cabinets were topped with quartz. She looked in the towel closet and it had many cute towels as well as some white and dark blue towels. While looking around in the bathroom something caught her eye. It was a basket of bath toys! The basket had rubber ducks and toy boats as well as an assortment of toy dinosaurs. The medicine cabinet had pain killers, bandaids and a few other first aid things. As she left the room she set out a few towels and the basket of toys.
The final door contained a bedroom. The theme of the bedroom was warm oranges with accents of light blue and white. The bed was a large canopy bed with white and blue silk curtains hanging off of it. This room also had two doors. Hermione assumed one was a closet but she didn’t know that the other could be. The floors were a light hardwood with a rug thrown over the bed area. It had a desk and a small table. The desk had a bookshelf to the right of it. Said bookshelf was filled to the brim with some of Hermione’s favorite books mixed with wizard childrens books and a few of Harry’s favorites. Hermione was correct in assuming one of the doors was a closet. It wasn’t a walk-in closet but it was bigger than the one she had at home. It had clothes for both Hermione and Harry. The clothes ranged from sleepwear to play clothes and of course their school uniform. A small box was tucked in the back of the closet but she didn’t touch it.
The other door had what looked to be a nursery in it. An adult sized toddler bed was tucked into the corner of the room and it looked like it had bars that could be raised up. The walls were a medium toned green with white polka dots littered around in clusters. The bed was white with black bedding and a creamish yellow bunny setting on it. A changing table was tucked into another corner of the room. Again it was white with the soft areas being a dark black. It was mostly hidden by the dark wardrobe next to it. Hermione checked inside the wardrobe and was met with babyish clothes and accessories. The rest of the space was absolutely covered in toys ranging from baby to young teen. Teethers and electronics were mostly near the bed. Hermione also left those alone.
When she was done exploring Hermione grabbed Harry from the corridor. The older witch led him to the first room and got some comfortable clothes for the both of them. “Okay Harry I have some really comfy clothes for you to wear. Do you need help or can you do it yourself?” Harry looked at her for a second and decided he could do it himself so he grabbed the clothes and pointed at himself. “So very independent aren't we?” Harry nodded and started to change while Hermione quickly changed in the bathroom. She had on a simple light blue nightgown and a white turtleneck. While Harry had a pair of yellow shorts and a black long sleeved shirt with yellow brown stripes. When he emerged from the bathroom he waddled over to Hermione. “Bummle Bee!” Harry gurgled out while struggling to walk over to his friend. “Hello there Honey.” Said friend was currently cooking food for the two of them. She had sent out her patronus earlier to Ron to let him know of the state that Harry is in and where they were.
“I'm making some chicken for us, is that alright?” Harry nodded and toddled over to the couch. He looked at Hermione and pointed to the stack of movies. “Do you want me to put on a movie?” Harry nodded vigorously at her question. She quickly walked over and took a random movie from the stack. “Are you fine with ‘The Lorax’?” She asked and looked over at him. Harry again nodded. Hermione put the movie on and handed him the plush bunny from the Nursery. He grabbed the bunny while the trailers played. “Hoppy!” Harry deemed the bunny. The older witch smiled from across the room.
About twenty minutes into the movie the chicken was finished. “Harry dinner is ready.” He bounded over with ‘Hoppy’ in his arms and sat at the island waiting for his plate. “Okay Okay. I get that you are excited but wait a second and use your manners.” She grabbed his stuffed bunny and set it in the chair next to him while she sat across from him. Their dinner was made up of mashed potatoes, garlic parmesan chicken and asparagus. As soon as she would let him, he dug into the food with vigor. “Oh Harry- Be careful.” Hermione lightly scolded her friend for eating so fast. He blew raspberries at her. “Harry! That is extremely rude young man.” He faltered under her words. “‘M sorry ‘Mionie..”
She paused for a second. “It’s not fine but I will forgive you.” Hermione reached over and cupped his cheek. “I still love you Harry, I'm sorry for yelling.” He smiled at her. Just as Hermione sat back down she remembered something she was going to ask him earlier. “Harry Honey, how old do you feel?” He looked at his fingers and held up three but flicked a fourth up and down. “Ah! Thank you hun.” ‘Three and a half eh?’ She smiled at him. ‘I can work with that.’ Hermione quickly finished her dinner and tossed her dishes in the sink. “Harry hun when you finish dinner, meet me in the bathroom.” She walked off to the bathroom soon after that. “Otay ‘Mione!!”
Harry finished his dinner quickly and grabbed ‘Hoppy’ from the chair next to him. He hobbled over to the bathroom and knocked on the door. Hermione opened the door and Harry heard running water. “Hello dear! It’s bath time alright.” She grabbed his hand and led her friend into the bathroom and shut the door. “Do you need help undressing honey?” Harry nodded, feeling the brick wall push his coherence more and more. Hermione smiled at the boy and pulled his shirt over his head. “Harry honey I'm not going to look at your waist okay.” He nodded but still looked away with his face in ‘Hoppy’s’ fur. The older witch quickly undressed the rest of him and set him in the bathtub.
“Do you like dinosaurs honey?” Hermione was grabbing some toys from the basket and she had turned to ask him the question. “Yes ‘Mione! Hawry likes Dinos!” The older witch smiled at him again. “Okay sweet boy.” Hermione grabbed 'Hoppy' and put her on the counter before putting two toy boats, a few ducks and a few dinosaurs in the tub with him. "There ya’ gope!" The mentally younger wizard’s eyes lit up with joy. “Auntie neva let me pway with Duckies and Dinos!” Hermione’s smile faltered before being replaced with a more determined smile; The older witch wouldn't let Harry’s newfound headspace be as awful as his earlier childhood. “Harry darling, do you think you can play for a minute while I get your clothes?” Harry nodded. “Yup ‘Mione!”
Hermione walked out of the room and paused when she saw Ron sitting at the island reading up on the history of Quidditch. “Oh hello there Ronald. When did you get here?” He looked up and smiled at her. “I got here a few minutes ago, don't worry. So what was up with that Patronus?” Hermione made a hand motion for him to follow her. “I’ll explain while we get some clothes.” She started walking to the bedroom. “So Harry had a bit of a tumble while attempting to carry our books back to Gryffindor tower. They fell on top of the poor boy and he involuntarily regressed to a young toddler age.” Ron nodded. His mother regressed sometimes due to the stress of being a mother and the amount of damage done to her body due to having seven children. Hermione tossed Ron a light blue sweater and white shorts, while she got out a light blue onesie and white shorts for harry. “Get dressed and meet me in the living room.
The older witch stepped out of the room and shuffled into the bathroom. “Hi Honey! Are you ready to get out?” Harry was on his back in the big bathtub playing with a boat and a dinosaur. “S’re ‘Mione.” He dropped the toys into the mountain of bubbles and water while putting his hands up for Hermione to grab him. She smiled at him and grabbed a towel with sharks on it to wrap him up. After drying him off Hermione helped dressed him in the pajamas she picked out. “There we go baby! All comfy now aren't we?” Harry smiled at her and nodded before waddling out of the bathroom.
Ron had changed and was laying on the couch in the main room reading the book from earlier. He perked up when he saw his best friend and waved him over. “Hullo Harry!” The younger wizard beamed and ran over to Ron jumping in his lap. “Hewwo Ron!” Ron wrapped his arms around Harry and nuzzled his hair. “Are you thirsty Honey?” The boy nodded at his best friend and looked at Hermione. “Mione gets it?” The older witch smiled at him and nodded while grabbing the snitch shaped sippy cup from the table. A few minutes later she returned with rich chocolate milk and a plate of dinner for Ron. He took the cup from Hermione to give to Harry. The youngest Weasley brother handed the boy his cup and quickly ate his dinner. His plate was thrown to the side after he finished in favor of watching a movie with his Best friends. Hermione put on the movie 'Legend of the Guardians: Owls of Ga'hoole'. They fell asleep on the couch snuggled into Ron's sides. The friends would talk about this later but for now they had each other and that was good enough.
