Narcissa Black did not hold any love for her ex-husband. Lucious may have fooled the rest of society but she knew… she knew the anger and hatred he held, how much pain he had caused… she saw it all.

As soon as her son was born she ran. Seeking refuge with her cousin Sirius in his childhood home was… odd.

She held him when Dumbledore came and told him the entire Potter family had died and again when they tried to take him away for supposedly causing their deaths. The whole time her dead aunt could be heard screaming from the hallway paintings. What a cruel world.

It was even crueler for the universe to show her the spitting image of James as she volunteered at the orphanage across town one June.

Draco had just turned eleven the day before and Sirius had requested the next day to spend time with him, just the two of them. So Narcissa used the spare time to donate some old clothes and toys to the orphanage and to help clean the rooms. The muggles were always so understaffed.

While mopping the main hallway she heard the sound of running feet and giggling children.

“You guys, the floor is wet, don’t run!” Of course the children paid her no mind.

Most ran past just fine but one boy slipped. The other’s stopped but he simply laughed and waved them off.

Turning to the boy to help him up and to take him to find a first aid kit she was taken aback.

All of the sudden she was back in the great hall in her first year, watching as Sirius teased a tan boy with green eyes and unruly hair.
