Chapter 6
"I'm home," I said to no one when I got home. It's funny how Harrys lack of presence has affected my own house, at least considering that he has not lived here long. I was already used to his manners or rather lack of manners, not surprising considering how he was treated with the Dursleys.
Harry´s first semester at Hogwarts started in a good way, at least that was what he wrote me, he described the boats that took them to the castle, the floating candles, the great hall and how he was sorted into Gryffindor, I let a joyful scream at that, he was sorted into his parent's house I thought that to be a good sign.
"I should have asked Mrs. Weasley's contact" I sighed regretting not doing just that now that I knew Harry had befriended the gangling redhead Ron Weasley. “Oh I wonder if he's having his first crush” I giggled as I read what he wrote about his other friend Hermione. As amusing as I would find that I choose not to comment anything about it, he is young and probably girls are the last thing on his mind right now.
The days passed and everyday I waited for a sudden owl to come to my window, I am barely getting used to it again as it's been a long time since an actual owl delivered the letters to me, at least not since Lily. Then I realized I was behaving exactly like when I was a little girl, just waiting all day for a simple letter to arrive. No matter how much I care for Harry I refused to become like that once again.
I seriously need to get a life, nowadays my daily basis consists of only work, I am relatively new here in Cokeworth and my only friends here are basically the employees from the inn. I thought about the last date I had, almost 2 years ago.
“Collin huh…I wonder if I should give him a call”
The next day as I got ready for my morning jog that started right from my house to the old tree back in my old house I received a new letter, Harry just got into the quidditch team of his house and won his first match. He also wrote about some petulant teacher of his, saying that he and other boys who are Slytherins were completely insufferable. -”He truly takes after you James” I smiled, shaking my head before putting on my headphones to leave the house.
And just like that a few months went by and Christmas was approaching. I was excited because Harry would come over for Christmas but the excitement I had quickly became disappointment as Harry asked me if it was alright if he spent Christmas in Hogwarts since his friends were going to spend Christmas there. I couldn´t really blame him as I probably would do the same if I were in his place. I was hurt but decided not to take it to heart.
In the end, I decided to give Collin a call in fear of spending another Christmas alone, not the most mature decision on my part but Collin was sweet enough and knowing he was nearby was too tempting to resist. I did just that and thankfully he seemed pleased with my call and we arranged a date.
That is how between work, Collin and other daily basis activities, Harry's first year was almost ending. Everything seemed to be going smoothly when at home while I was making a welcome home banner I received a very alarming letter telling me that Harry was slightly injured but that he was coming back home safe and sound.
I could not believe it, I read the letter a hundred times but still couldn understand its meaning. Harry basically stood up to an evil professor in disguise and saved the day, what in the world was a first year doing in that school. I wrote a complaint letter but felt pathetic sending it, a complaint letter was not enough to describe how I was feeling. Sooner than not Harry sent me a letter trying to calm down saying he would explain everything the second he sees me.
“You bet you´ll explain everything Harry” I replied with an almost threatening letter. I had my suspicions that Harry wasn't telling me everything and now my doubts were confirmed.
June arrived and I went to the platform 9 ¾ once again to pick up Harry. I was desperate to see Harry with my own eyes. My mind was clouded with worried thoughts, maybe sending him to Hogwarts was the wrong choice I was contemplating how to move on forward with this, when I finally land eyes of him, this time I didn't have to run to him, this time he ran to me with a big smile on his face.
“Edith!” Harry said, hugging me tightly. I hugged him back but quickly started checking for any injuries. “I´m alright, I´m alright” He chuckled.
“Young man, you owe me a big explanation.” I said to him tugging him lightly by the cheek.
“Yeah I know,” He said now seriously. “But you have to promise me that you will not stop me from returning to Hogwarts. I sighed internally “I promise as long as you stop keeping secrets from me".
"Fine" I huffed "But you better start from the beginning”.
“Alright Aunt Edith, but remember to have an open mind" He said.
I rolled my eyes and nodded, I took his things and he started talking while we headed home.
“Well I suppose it all started when…”
END OF FIRST YEAR.
