The Parlour

So we got ice cream.

I hopped in Harry's truck after he honked like an obnoxious git instead of just coming in the house and grabbing me. We drove down to the small shop in town and got some ice cream.

We sat out on the bench and enjoyed the afternoon sun.

“So what do you think you’re going to do? After you’re done with school, I mean?” he asked me, gesturing with his spoon.

I laughed at the suddenness of the question, “mm, I don’t know. I haven’t really thought about what I might do after school…”

He quirked an eyebrow at me, waiting.

“Umm, I guess I might take some time to travel, see a bit of the world. Probably go to university after that, y’know continue with football and all.”

He nodded along. “Some time to travel would be nice, wouldn’t it?”

I grinned, “anywhere you’ve been dying to go Potter?”

“I dunno,” he looked down at the empty bowl in his hands. “I like it here a lot.” He said, glancing sideways at me through the fringe of his hair.

For some unknown reason, I blushed. And just kinda smiled foolishly at him.

“Yeah,” I said, “here is pretty great.” He bumped his knee against mine and grinned back at me.

He left his knee there, resting against mine, and I busied myself with my ice cream trying to ignore the fluttering in my chest.

And I guessed, it felt a little bit like a date.
