It's a Basilisk Boys
Ron and Harry were on their way to visit Hermione and bumped into Malfoy. Well, Ron Purposely bumped into him, “Watch it you slimy snake” snarled Ron.
“Well, excuse me! But there’s plenty of room on this stairwell Weasley” retorted the blond. Harry pulled on the hot-tempered redhead away before blows could be exchanged causing all three of them a stay in the hospital wing. “ Come on Ron, I want to visit Hermione before visiting hours are over”.
They sat at Granger’s bedside talking about how school was going, Harry quietly told her that they weren’t any closer to solving the mystery. “Wish you were here Hermione,” he says and reaches for her hand. And was confused to find something jammed into it. He looks closer and sees that it is parchment. Harry carefully pries the parchment from Hermione’s petrified hand.
He motions to Ron, who rolls his eyes, got up from his chair to look over Harry’s shoulder.
“What is it?” he asks.
“ It looks like a page from a book” Harry replies
“But Hermione loves books, she would never harm one even if her life depends on it.” Ron mumbles.
“Well, she must have if she thought it was important” Harry stated, opening up the crinkled sheet. Looking it over, the pieces of the puzzle clicked into place. “Ron, this is it! Come on!” he turns around and leaves at a brisk pace. Ron follows and soon they reached an empty corridor. Harry went to stand by a pillar with a cauldron of firelight.
“Amongst the fearsome beasts, nothing is more terrifying or deadly as the Basilisk. Also known as the King of Serpents. This snake is able to grow to enormous sizes of hundreds of feet long and as wide as a Redwood tree. Basilisks have a murderous gaze for all who look at it in the eye, and its poison will kill a full-grown man in less than a minute. Spiders flee before it, as it is their mortal enemy. A Basilisk flees from roosters crowing, for it is deadly to it.”
“That’s it!” Harry explained.
“What? Are you saying the monster that has been attacking people is a Basilisk?” quizzed Ron.
“Yes, Ron. It all makes sense. And it’s why I can hear it. It’s a snake.” Harry went on.
“So, if it kills by looking people in the eye, how come no one’s dead?” Ron questions.
Harry thought for a minute, “Because, no one looked it in the eye. Well, not directly at least. So, they’re petrified instead. Hermione and Clearwater had the mirror, Justin saw it through Nearly Headless Nick. Nick is a ghost so he can’t really die again.” He rereads the page.
“So how is it getting around the school? If this thing is so large, how come no one has seen it?Because I’m sure Mrs. Norris didn’t have any of those things.” Ron argues.
“There was water on the floor that night. She only saw the reflection.” Harry replies and sees handwriting at the bottom: Pipes.
“It’s been using the plumbing?” gasps Ron.
“Do you remember, what Aragog said? About the girl who died in a bathroom?” Harry asks.
“Yeah, so?” the redhead replied.
“What if she never left?”.
