Toni and Autumn
Saturday, April 4th, 1992
There were only three Gryffindor third year boys, they had all been born in 1978, not a big year for babies in the wizarding world. Fred Weasley, George Weasley, and Lee Jordan. Fred and Lee were currently out at Hogsmead with approximately 1/3 of the school.
That left George who was sitting on his bed, in his dorm, next to his twelve year old sister.
"I'm fourteen now, as of a few days ago." George informed. "Starting my fourth year in less than half a year."
"I know." Toni replied back, confused at why her brother felt the need to explain something so...obvious.
"You're twelve, as of a month ago. Starting your second year in the same amount of time."
"Yeah." It almost came out as a question.
"So, why do you get....Get everything...."
"What do I have that you don't?"
"United. Friends. Girlhood." George reminded, but seemed to have a much longer list of things he wasn't voicing.
"You go to United all the time, you have friends, and why would you be...jealous over me being a girl?"
"I have a friend, but only because of Fred....United isn't the same for me as it is for you...you belong...."
"You ignored the most important point." Toni noted, not forcing him to speak, but giving him incentive to.
"What?"
"I'm a girl, which is something you claimed I had and you didn't....Why would want to be a girl?"
"It's not about wanting to be a girl....You GET to be a girl, I don't."
"Of course you can be a girl if you want too. If it feels more right. You don't have to be any gender that makes you feel uncomfortable or that you're just not." Toni assured her older...sibling.
"But....But, Fredrick Gideon and George Fabian Weasley. Twin boys named after mom's older twin brother's."
"You don't have to be a boy just because Fred is, or because mom had twin brothers....And if you change your name, for any reason, you don't have to keep the same name thing she did."
"But....Fred and Autumn doesn't roll off the tongue like Fred and George does."
"So? Anyway, why does Fred's name always have to go first....It makes you sound like one person, which you're not."
"....No one would ever call me Autumn...."
"I would, Autumn. So, would my friends and many other people."
"I was thinking Francine Grace."
"What?"
Autumn breathed in deeply. "Autumn Francine Grace Weasley....It's a mouthful I know, but...."
"I think it's beautiful."
"Really?"
"One hundred percent....You're....You're very Autumn, y'know." Toni told her sister.
"I am?"
"Definitely."
