A conversation
Tuesday, November 5th, 1991
Kat skipped into their and Mandy's dorm after class. Mandy was already there, sitting on her bed.
"Hi, Mandy!"
Mandy rolled her eyes. "Hello, Kat."
Kat flopped onto their bed, giggling as they bounced. "Can we talk?"
"About what?"
"United."
"You mean your club?"
"Yup!"
"Fine. What about it?"
"Will you please, come to the meeting tomorrow?"
"I'm not queer."
"You don't have to be queer to join. It's not just about the LGBTQ+ community. It's about diversity. And anyone can be part of it."
"I don't know."
"Why are you so hesitant? United is awesome!"
"I think you're biased."
"Maybe. But, why don't you want to join?"
"I don't know. What's the point?"
"It's a good cause. Please just come tomorrow. If you don't like it you never have to come again. But, please, just try it."
"Fine. I'll come tomorrow. But, that'll probably be it."
"That's fine. Thank you so much, Mandy!"
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever."
