Howling Alone
Summary
Remus after Sirius confronts Peter and goes to azkaban

Remus sunk to his knees tears streaming down his cheeks. He was utterly alone. For the first time since Remus Lupin was a shy nervous bookish eleven year old boarding the Hogwarts express, he was wholly alone in the world. He had screamed his throat raw begging his Sirius not to confront Peter, pleading with his boyfriend as if his life depended on it. The brazen willfully obstinate headstrong manchild was beyond all reason. Sirius had always been lead by his heart not head. That was hours ago. Remus had banged his fists against the front door in frustration until his knuckles were bruised and bloodied.

He felt a momentary pang of hope tinged with relieve when the floo chimed, alas it was not to be. Instead of gorgeous Sirius with his infectious mischievous smile, soulful grey eyes, and luxurious black curls it was Albus Dumbledore. The aged headmaster with twinkling eyes and a beard reaching his knees confirmed Remus's deepest fears. Sirius was in azkaban. Dumbledore said he'd killed Peter and 13 muggles, something Remus's grief addled brain could scarcely find the bandwidth to comprehend. Remus argued with the old man, refusing to believe his lover, his partner--his mate--was capable of such heinous acts. Then Dumbledore dropped the final bombshell. Sirius had confessed. The old man left hastily, much too important to comfort a grieving fool of a young werewolf.

The following nearly two weeks passed in a colorless, emotionally numb haze. Remus's body operated on autopilot. He was only marginally aware of the passing time and found tending to his most basic of needs treacherous. He went days without eating or drinking, too depressed to muster an appetite. Remus hadn't showered or slept in his and Sirius's shared bedroom since that night. The night his mostly happy life had gone up in flames. James was dead. Lily was dead. Peter was dead. Sirius was in azkaban. The love of his life had betrayed them all.

Worst of all his cub was so far away. Little chubby cheeked green-eyed messy haired Harry had been sent away for his own protection. His wolf was just below the surface as the night of the full moon loomed ever nearer. His instincts ran wild in futile attempts to sniff out the babe's location. The clock seemed to tick at an ever increasing volume as the hours until moonrise became mean minutes. Remus took a calming breath as the change overtook his body and mind. Moony was incharge with Remus attempting to grab the wheel while backseat driving.

Moony shredded every piece of fabric and furniture, demolishing the tiny flat.
