She sat up high in the trees, surrounded by the sun. She chuckled to herself, Draco would’ve definitely called her his golden girl if he could’ve seen her right now. She counted the branches, but lost count. There was around one million, and she loved every single one.
“Mum, dad?” She cried into the open air. “Did you ever search for me? I’ve been away for so long, I’m going crazy.”
As the sun came down, she ended up on the ground. Draco heard the train shaking the windows of their home, and Hermione screamed over the sound. He ran outside, and pulled her close to him as she kicked and fought, he brought her inside and put a blanket around her shivering frame. He kissed her, told her he loved her, she kissed him back, and she put her body to the test with his.
This love was out of control.
Where did it go?
Hermione started packing her bags, she couldn’t stay there any longer. Not with him, not anymore. She was screaming, he was crying. “I can’t stay here, Malfoy.” She seethed as she pushed past him to get to their shared wardrobe.
“Don’t be crazy, Granger, of course you can stay here!” He cried.
“Oh yeah? Despite the fact you’re supposed to keep me safe and instead you’re off risking your own life?” She scoffed.
“I’ve been a trainee auror for the last three years, Hermione, I’ve only just become mandated.” He pleaded. “Please, don’t go, I know you’re tired.”
“Big fucking deal, I guess you’re official.” Her voice was void of any emotion whatsoever.
“I only said that because I know what it’s like to feel burnt out,” he was relentless. “It gets you down, we’ve all been there sometimes, but tonight, I’ll make you feel beautiful once again.” He promised.
Hermione dropped her bag and fell into his arms, both of them falling to the ground in front of the fireplace. They heard the train shake the windows again, and Draco made Hermione scream his name over the sound. They owned this night, and they put their bodies to the test with each other.
This love was out of control.
Where did it go?
Draco walked into the bathroom to see Hermione crying, an empty bottle of vodka on the floor. She was holding something, but Draco couldn’t see what. Her hair was in clumps on the floor, like she’d hacked at most of it. It came to a rough cut just above her shoulders, the ragged ends of it dancing against her skin. He cleared his throat, so that he didn’t startle her.
“If I were you, I’d put that away.” He said quietly. “You’re just wasted and you’re thinking about the past again. Darling, you’ll be okay.”
She turned to him and he expected to see her beautiful, warm brown eyes peering back at him, showing her soul, but all he saw was exhaustion, loneliness and heartbreak.
“If you were me, you’d do the same.” She deadpanned at him, looking at him, but not truly seeing him. “I can’t take this anymore. I’ll draw the shades, just close the door.” She was sobbing at this point.
“Everything’s-”
“Not alright, and I would rather-”
Draco lunged at her before she could do anything she would regret, but he was too late. Her body fell in a heap, and he realised she was holding her wand to her chest. He sobbed, shaking her, trying his hardest to rouse her, even though he knew there was nothing he could do to bring her back from this.
This love was out of control.
Where did she go?
It was a heavily raining day when they laid his Golden Girl to rest. It was a sorrowful day for everyone, but Draco most of all. He stayed long after they had buried her and laid the flowers. He lay on the ground next to her.
The sun cleared the clouds as it was starting to set, casting a burning golden hue over the nature surrounding them, and Draco heard a train in the distance, but no shaking windows. He still screamed over the sound.
As he now owned this night,
Draco took off his shoes.
He put his body to the test with hers.
He kissed the ground above where her body lay.
This love, was out of control.
He took one final gulp of firewhiskey.
Tell me, where did they go?
He was greeted by Hermione, who ran towards him with a smile on her face and her arms wide open. “You came.”
“I’ll follow you anywhere, Granger.”
