Harry followed inked footsteps through the corridors, across the grounds, to the very bank of the water’s edge. His knees soaked through as he kneeled on the sand, hunched over to peer into the dark depths, hoping to catch a sight, to find an answer to all his questions.
Slowly, a figure emerged. His pale hair flared out in the water with the moonbeam ripples across the surface of the Black Lake. His eyes shone through the dark, the same gray but–different. Too bright, mesmerising.
Malfoy cut him a sharp smile, all teeth and enticing all the same. Harry forgot what he came to say.
A pale hand reached out, caught the end of his tie, reeled him in. Harry allowed it.
The kiss was cold, and all-encompassing. The water that slowly closed over his head, even more so.
Up above, the surface of the Black Lake stilled. The Map lay lost amongst rocks and reeds.
