all the ways i suffer and never prosper

Helena would like to say that she handled her cursed scar albeit faded coming back with dignity. If she said that she would be lying because instead she holed herself in her room for three days searching earnestly through all the books she had for why that happened. But of course too her luck there wasn’t much research done with reincarnation and scars and all that.

She also had one burning question in her mind, “why did it come after 13 years”

What kind of game were these gods playing with her?

She had a specific task and she was set to fulfill it but instead, she was haunted by everything she left (willingly or unwillingly she would never know)

So her research was utterly pointless and she had to come up with an excuse as to why spidery lines were crawling up her collarbone.

She couldn’t exactly tell her siblings that, “Oh you know I came from a different world and nearly died because an angry man was following a prophecy and screwed me over”

That did not seem like it was going to go over that well much to her resigned displeasure.

Now her wardrobe and routine were going to consist of finding scarves covering her neck or a lot of concealer because in her previous life, her cursed scar wouldn’t be covered by just simple makeup.

Oh no, she was making literal potions to cover it but it’s been about a long time since she had to DO THAT. Her memory wasn’t that great where she could remember every single detail from when she died. It was heartbreaking when she realized she didn’t know the color of Sirius’s eyes or what Teddy’s favorite book would be.

As much as Helena tried to ignore a lot that had happened to her and was happy she wasn’t suffering like before she missed a lot of people. Sure she hated the fame and the burden placed on her shoulders because of what happened when she was a baby and then 17.  It was frightening to realize that everyone she knew and loved was gone.

Helena was never going to see them again even in death.

In this world, she was Helena Hargreaves Number 8 the youngest in the Umbrella Academy with a family of superheroes when she wasn’t even the hero.

She was Helena Potter, the savior of the wizarding world and a godmother to a little boy, and with the way Ron and Hermione were going the godmother to another kid.

The green-eyed girl rubbed her stinging eyes as stared in the mirror at the damned scar that took almost everything from her.

She didn’t want it back, her only mission here was to keep her siblings safe, happy, and alive. Her mission was to stop Reginal Hargreaves from causing the end of the world. Her mission was the only thought pushing her along. The only thing helping her forget about what could’ve been but what might never be.

As sad as it sounded Helena was used to crying, obviously she didn’t do it in front of people because she thought it was pathetic. She was taught by the Dursleys that crying got you nowhere and they were right. Crying didn’t do anything.

Helena heard a knock on the door and she quickly wiped the tears away, zipped up the jacket making sure her neck was covered, and cleared her throat, “yeah”?

A muffled voice that sounded like Allison responded, “Hey you’ve been in here for a while”

She quickly grabbed an unfinished painting that was half done and said, “Just been working on a project, you know how it is”

Her siblings did know how it was and were used to their youngest sister squirreling herself away in her room not coming out for days and an absolute masterpiece would be shown. They still scolded her for sequestering herself away and five always threatened to teleport into her room to leave.

She went to her door to unlock it and and Allison looked at her with worried eyes, “Are you ok”

“I’m fine” Helena responded even though she KNEW she looked like a mess

Her hair was unbrushed and in a bun her clothes were the same as three days ago and her eyes were red from the crying she had.

“Just give me a minute” She muttered and was grateful that her voice didn’t crack because that was something that was going to give her away. Helena did the bare minimum to look like a normal human being and called out, “Come in”

Allison peaked in her room and looked at her with a worried expression.

“Are you alright, you look like Dad said something to you”

Helena shook her head and just muttered, “Don’t worry about it”

Allison didn’t know what to say because Helena was usually the cheerful one or the positive one, she didn’t get upset. Yeah, she got irritated or angry but she never seemed somber.

“Do you want a hug?” Allison asked hopeful

Helena nodded and hugged her sister blinking away the tears welling up in her eyes

While Alliosn hugged her she murmured, “The others are worried for you”

Helena broke from the hug and quickly wiped her eyes and cleared her throat, her voice was still slightly wrecked from all the crying she did, ‘I’m fine, I was just thinking about some things”

Allison shook her head, “your not fine”

Helena laughed and Allison stopped herself from finching because sounded cold and sarcastic, “when am I ever fine?”

Allison furrowed her eyebrows but Helena just sighed, “Sorry that was uncalled for, I’m just not having a good couple of days”

“Was it because of dad?”

Helena shook her head, “I haven’t seen him in days”

Allison didn’t know what to say to that, “Want to have a movie night later, you could convince five to teleport to Griddy’s and get donuts for all of us”

Helena snorted, “You can’t ask him yourself”

Allison rolled her eyes, “You like obviously the favorite”

Helena sputtered, “Wait no that Vanya”

Her sister couldn’t help but laugh, “True but after Vanya it's you”

Surprisingly she did feel better, ok maybe her scars were coming back and along with the scars, there might be more dreams she didn’t think of. However, she didn’t have time and energy to waste on something that happened or might happen. She had to pull up her big girl pants and think like an adult because in age she was 13 but mentally she was like 20.

She took away some years because relearning a lot of things with a foggy memory that slowly got clearer throughout the years was an experience that for sure.

Helena had kept a notebook of all the different things that happened when she was a child up to now regarding her reincarnation or her being a whole new person in general.

Something that Fate and Death failed to mention to her was that her being number 8 would also mean she would have some type of power of her own.

She got telekinesis and she could be really powerful if she bothered to practice it but keeping her siblings alive and happy was a full-time job.

Honestly, Helena felt more like a mother at times rather than Grace because her siblings were a little exhausting to keep up with.

Besides her magic that she had to constantly keep using, she also had to deal with how it impacted her body. Helena noticed that she needed a lot of food to keep up with the amount of consumption she used with her magic. There was a reason why Hogwarts started at 11 because that was when there could be some kind of control of magic and the classes help flex it a little bit.

That's what Helena thinks, she never said that was a magic expert, that was Hermione's forte and Ron could explain it better.

She could write everything down later she had a movie to watch with her siblings.

“What are we going to be watching” Helena asked absentmindedly

“I think Luther’s choosing” Allison stated

Helena groaned, “Why”

“We all said the same thing, but he won rock paper scissors” Allison pouted

“I guess I’m going to be sleeping today” Helena shrugged resigned

“His movies aren’t THAT bad” Allison stated

(spoiler alert: they were that bad, in good news though Helena had the best sleep of her life)

-------

All she saw was darkness as she was trapped in this prison that she could never leave. Her ghosts taunted her no matter how much she screamed to be released.

It was the same thing, the taunting as well as the torture

She kept begging for mercy about something she didn't even know she did

She didn’t know how long it was going to take to be released from this hell she found herself trapped in.

The days seemed to blur as one and questions that she screamed but were never answered

‘ Who are you people

‘Where am i’

‘Who am i’

That was a pressing question because who was she?

Her memories seemed to be blurred out and was stuck chained to this wall with food thrown at her like she was some animal.

Nobody came near her and was tortured from a distance by magic.

Every time she thought of that word her vision whitened out but she didn’t know what to say because wasn’t that the word?

She was always chained, her legs bound and collar attached to her neck

Well that was her normal until something changed

She was still covered in darkness when she heard sounds of distant screaming. She tried to move but her chains stubbornly kept her back.

There in the distance, a young girl stared at her with horror in her eyes

----

Who?

Helena woke up with a gasp and she felt dizzy while her siblings were asking questions but Helena was shaking and trying not to cry.

What the hell was going on and why did that girl look familiar and why was she chained?

It's like that one word was blurred out.

She HAD to know
