Chapter 3

The brown-feathered owl flew through the Scamander cottage window, holding a brown paper package in its talons. It dropped the package into Tina’s waiting hands, flying to land on Newt’s shoulder. Petting the owl, the old wizard looked to his wife. “A letter from Rolf?” Tina nodded, opening the letter that started to read to them their grandson’s soft, lilting voice.

Dear Mumma Tina and Poppa Newt,

It’s that time of year again! The boys sent us their yearbooks and as always I sent you Lorcan's book! They’re very excited to see you for summer vacation! And can’t wait to tell you about their year!

Hope to see you two soon!
Love always, Rolf and Luna

Tina tore open the package to find the familiar book. Glossy and pristine and decorated with the blue and bronze of Lorcan’s house. Newt pulled her closer, wrapping his arm around her waist and snuggling into her side. Hoppy leaped onto the table quickly followed by Millie and Mauler who climbed into Newt’s lap.

First, flipping to the G-section, she smiled at the sight of her brother’s granddaughter. “Annalies’ gotten so big!”

Then they flipped to the K-section. Quinton looked more and more like Jacob every day, while Gracie’s features became reminiscent of Queenie and Rhea Boot’s as she got older.

Then they laughed at James’ cocky smirk and Albus and Lily-Luna’s shy smiles as they flipped to the P-section. Newt smiled tearfully at his professor’s namesake. Glad Mr. Potter had chosen to honor the man, no matter his faults.

Then they gazed at their (Theseus’) grandchildren. Lorcan and Lysander smiled proudly, both waving slightly at the camera. Their blond hairs flopped over their foreheads, just like Newt’s used to. Theo Jr. smirked, just like James (his best friend).

His younger sister, Alexandria smiled softly, pushing her glasses up and the camera flashed as the sun hit her dark hair, highlighting the dark red accents in her hair as her warm brown eyes, so much like her grandmother’s glistened.

Then they gazed at all the Weasley kids, their freckles popping out as they smiled.

Newt chuckled, kissing his wife on her left temple.

“How far we’ve grown.”

Tina smiled, “How far we’ve come.”
