Chapter 11
They had successfully managed to floo Daisy back to the Potter Manor, they carefully levitated Daisy to a bedroom so they can work on her and not have to move her later; Hari had refused to let his sister out of his sight and he had clearly inherited his mothers stubbornness. Sirius had been the one to find a way to floo with multiple people as one of his parent’s favourite thing to show off was their floo system. They enlarged the fireplace to the point the wall was cracked, they charmed Daisy to the board so she couldn’t move off it and Sirius could hold tightly onto the board with it standing up and Hari would hold tightly onto him.
They worked on Daisy for an unknown period of time, Hari was silent but crouching next to his sister, his knees ached and his muscles groaned at him from being in the position for so long but he needed to be able to dart away quickly and he couldn’t leave Daisy’s side. So for what must have been hours the teenage boy was eerily still. Every time someone would move they could see his muscles tense and ready to either fight or fly and he would glare at anybody who touched his sister in a way. Sirius knew what it was like to leave a place only for your sibling to pay the price and it took every bit of self control not to scoop Hari close to his chest. That would only help him, not Hari.
finally Remus managed to attempt to smile but it came out as a crimmance more like. “Uh sh-she‘s okay for now we managed to heal her superficial wounds-“
“What the fuck is superficial about ANY OF HER INJURIES” the preteen roared, now in a defensive standing position and tears spilt from his eyes. He angrily wiped them away.
For a moment, the silence was deafening, Hari had began to slowly back away, however hesitated, his eyes darting between his sister and the adults. The adults watched with their hearts breaking as Hari stayed frozen, stuck between not wanting to leave his sister and every part of his instincts screaming at him to run.
“I’m sorry I should’ve explained what I meant and not assumed you knew; superficial injuries mean only the top layer of skin was affected such as shallow cuts, burns and bruising.”
Hari nodded, his cheeks and ears darkening as he blushed. “Sorry for yelling…”
Remus smiled softly at him. “That’s okay cub, it’s understandable, do you want me to continue?”
Hari nodded but was anxiously chewing his bottom lip and fidgeted with his fingers, his body remaining protectively by Daisy’s side. James watched, everything about Hari’s behaviour was exactly like Sirius’ after he ran away, he had thought his children would never have to go through what Sirius did. He might’ve been stuck in a coma at the time but he had failed the one thing a parent is meant to do, protect their children. James wanted nothing more than to just pull his son close and reassure him everything would be okay, but Hari seemed to be pulling away from anybody who tried to touch him. James refused to force his affections onto his traumatised child just to make himself feel better.
“I’ll just gloss over to just the main things because … well you will be able to read the parchment ….” Remus always looked older than the rest of his fried ground but seemed to have aged even more in the past day. “We healed the broken bones, she had two fractured vertebra’s thankfully with no spinal cord injury, we also healed her collar bone, arm in three places but unfortunately her legs will need to be in a cast for a week as we had to regrow them. Normally it would only take 24 hours but her magical core is exhausted from merely keeping her alive. We’re giving her a complicated potion which replenishes her magical core by goes through the blood. Along with that we’re running just a drip to keep her hydrated. I suspect we might need to place a feeding tube due to how long she’s been starved we could do more damage if we give her lots of calories at once.”
The mood was grim and the tension was so thick you could cut it. James and Hari both kept clenching and unclenching their jaws, something that might’ve made the group smile if not for the awful situation that they had found themselves in.
“I think I might put on a kettle, tea anyone?” Silently Remus motioned to Hari and then to Daisy with his eyes,
Then eyed the door and finally looked back at his friends.
Lily had caught on as soon as he asked the question, and nodded, holding out her hand for James to take ignoring how just that small movement alone made her wobble, Miss quickly helped Lily regain her balance and with one hand using Miss and one hand holding James hand they walked out to kitchen with Remus and Sirius not far behind.
