Chapter 7

“I, the honourable Judge Garret, declare full custody of Hari and Daisy Potter to James Potter and Lily Potter.” The judge banged his hammer and promptly started organising the papers he had been given, smiling to himself as he watched the group celebrate.

The group, who hadn’t known they’d be holding their breaths until they gasped as as the verdict was announced. Lily’s eyes instantly overflowed with tears and threw herself onto James, who had his own tears streaming down his caramel cheeks, James spun her around, laughing and crying equally as much. It only took a few seconds for Sirius to leap onto the couple, his smile so wide it looked like it split his face, Remus who preferred softer hugs, just stood there bouncing excitedly on the balls of his feed, he like the others were laughing and crying, the energy in the room overwhelmingly positive.

“You’re an idiot,” Remus laughed, helping his husband up, Sirius grinned and pulled Remus’ collar down so he could pull him into a kiss which soon deepened. Remus’ cheeks flushed red.

“Oi! Stop kissing and let’s get our fucking kids!” Lily yelled, her voice loud but void of any real anger. The two pulled apart, giving only a couple more pecks before making their only form of PDA their holding hands. Lily snapped her fingers and started towards the fire place, the couple following her.

James looked at his wife with heart eyes. “God I love you” Lily smiled at her husband, and placed a soft hand on his cheek.

The group had been so caught up in their giddiness, they raced to their nearest fireplace, and were so happy and so caught up in their celebrating that it took them a few minutes - and James getting into the fireplace - before Remus realised they never got the address. The four also hadn’t thought of the fact that Lily’s sister was proudly muggle and they would need to apparate instead of floo. Lily laughed as James quickly jumped out of the fireplace and thus the four sheepishly returned back to the court room and getting the confidential address from the Judge who merely chuckled at their reddened ears. The group looked to where they needed, Lily recognising the the name as a painfully boring street filled with the same streets and gardens that all suited the neighbourhood, tidy and pretty but so awfully boring with little imagination. Petunia had longed to live in that street growing up, it was only a few minutes away from Cokeworth, it seemed Petunia got her childhood dream. Reaching and holding each others hands, the four quickly apparated away, and they tried to ignore the sinking feeling in their chest.

Four pops sounded through the street of Private Drive, it was Evening and the sun was just beginning to set, the muggles of the street put the noises down to cars of people arriving home, but the group still saw a few heads peeping from behind curtain. The group of four began walking up towards Private drive, James lead the group, his confident strut, Sirius and Remus grinned at each other, they had missed that strut. Soon the group were at Number Four, grabbing Lily’s hand in his, James lifted his hand to knock on the door.
